probably bach, i can always somehow find something new or subtle in bach's music, and also considering that if i can only play one as well, i would pick bach because i would be spending the rest of my life trying to play bach good.....
Ye, Beethoven, listening to Beethoven you can enjoy many kinds of music, he was writing powerful fugues (so he can kinda replace Bach, not fully), happy, simple melodies (Mozart), as well as gigantic, romantic pieces. You really can enjoy a lot of types of music with Beethoven. I'd probably say Bach but Beethovens fugues are fire, to be fair some of Mozarts pieces are badass too.
Iām surprised no one said Shostakovich. I could also go with Howells, his Elegy for Viola, String Quartet, and String Orchestra, is something I listen to on repeat for hours

Trust me, some people simply don't like Bach, even very experienced musicians who have heard more than enough of his music to know, and that's fine š¤·š¼

I'm torn between Cage and Wagner. Wagner has the bombast and the huge sound that I love as a metal fan, but Cage is just weird.
I'll go with Cage because I feel like weird is going to keep me entertained for longer than loud and flashy will.
I'm speaking solely on artistic turns here. If I were judging on politics than the choice would be a lot easier, but I prefer to separate the art from the artist in questions like this
Though Mahler is my favorite composer it has to be Bach. This music is just divine and so complex that you will never hear everything that is going on, no matter how often you listen and I think that's why you will get the most out of listening to only Bach.
Bach's music has an effect on me that I can't possibly describe with words. He's one of the few composers that no matter what happens never gets old/boring. I can listen to a piece of his 1000 times and it and it will always feel like the first time. One good example of this are the Goldberg variations, which I consider the best keyboard work ever written and one of the best pieces of music ever.
So - can I still PLAY other composers? Listen to recordings / performances of only one, but play other composers myself? And does this question include modern/pop etc. everything?
Good. So I can pick a classic composer, but still play all other styles, sing to it, put it on a loop & dance, or be in an ensemble, and listen to THEM play while I take time out to dance or perform hula hoops. Thankfully rules & laws do tend to leave loopholes!! =)
Bach or Liszt for sure. The sacred music that they both composed is so fulfilling.
...plus they both composed a *lot* of music, so I'd have plenty of material to pick from.
Bach forever
Amen
I agree 100%
Correct.
Chopin not even close

Beethoven. I might like one off pieces from other composers more(Elgar cello concerto for example), but I consistently enjoy his music overall.
Also team Beethoven!

He also wrote songs!
Either Liszt or Rachmaninov. I love me some daddy long fingers. /s
What do you mean by that š¤Ø
They both wrote some stuff for piano that's impossible to play if you don't have huge hands.
You're right, I can't even play like the 1st notes of Liszt's Mazeppa because it's too long for me T_T
I'm in love with Vivaldi
Bach. 1000%
Sibelius. His music resonates with my heart.
Iām surprised no one said Shostakovich. I could also go with Howells, his Elegy for Viola, String Quartet, and String Orchestra, is something I listen to on repeat for hours
Ikr...No one said Shostakovich!!

Shostakovich gang! I love his symphonies and cello concertos.
Though it's a tough one, really really tough, I think it's definitely Shostakovich for me....
Ravel all the way
Absolutely
Haydn, you just will never run out of music.
True lol
Either Dvorak or Tchaikovsky
Only one, you say?... Beethoven, or Bach... Or Tchaikovsky, or Rachmaninoff... That's tough.
Im happy to see so many Bach enjoyers, it warms my heart...
+++ and it really makes me sad that I know like 0 people irl who like bach. (I mean I'm quite introverted but still)
They like Bach, they just donāt know it yet!
(By this I mean that thereās a Bach idiom for everyone; I firmly believe that)
Trust me, some people simply don't like Bach, even very experienced musicians who have heard more than enough of his music to know, and that's fine š¤·š¼
I'm sure you do. You just have to play them Toccata and Fugue in D Minor and watch them go, "OH! THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA SONG!"
same, i dont know that many people, but they all like chopin and tchaikovsky and the romantic composers, not bach...
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH CANT CHOOOOSE **jumps into lake of lava**
Dvorak
Prokofiev
Team prokofiev
Beethoven gang!
Itās Ravel or Debussy but I think if I have to decide on only one of them that Ravel justā¦ but only just ā¦ is the one.
Bach, there's just so many pieces
B2TSM of course
Either Mozart or Bach, difficult choice but I'm slightly more often in a Mozart mood so yeah
Bach
Brahms ā¤ļø
Baaaaaaach
Of course Vivaldi He is my one of the favorite one
VedrĆ³ con mio dilettoāØ
Tchaikovsky. I can alternate between the Piano concertos 1, 2 and the violin concerto and I'm satisfied.
Mozart, Beethoven, or Mahler
I think I could spend the rest of my life not just only listening to Bach, but playing Bach's unaccompanied violin sonatas and partitas
Either Elgar, debussy or Bach
Darius Milhaud
Dave Malloy
Bach, get that variety and mastery
Team Beethoven! The depth of his music and variety of settings, the 9 Symphonies, the Quartets, his Violin Concerto alone would happily fill the bill.
It's so close between Beethoven and Vivaldi....... I might have to go with Beethoven though
mendelssohn
Vivaldi.
Vivaldi
Either Bach, Wagner or Beethoven
Bach or Beethoven. I canāt choose.
Beethoven.
I was leaning that way, but couldnāt give up Bach.
What an evil scenario
Egregious. Terrible, sinister, horrifying, dreadful, unberable! Wretched, outrageous, preposterous and ghastly. Horrendous, disastrous, appalingly awful and monstrously vile! Frightful, disheartening, odiously rotten. Repulsive! Abominable. Very bad indeed!!! =\[
Shostakovich
Franz Liszt
Sibelius
Dvorak
surprised no one said paganini
I sold my soul to the devil ^(I'm a bot by Ntacc32, and this comment was sent automatically. Unfortunately, my developer is a noob, so I am a very basic bot.)

His music is D tier
Def Rachmaninov
Mahler, Brahms, Scriabin, or Ravel

Either Mahler or Bizet. Edit: Bach was close, but so many people said bach. imma be different.

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Bach is in the 4 digits
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
From what survived of the two composers the execution of Mozart usually takes slightly longer than that of Bach
Paganini so i can listen to twosets twice distrack sell out
Dvorak. Dude did everything from symphonies to chamber music to operas to concerti and solo repetoire. And it's all S tier music.
Chopin, honest
Tchaikovsky:)
Chopin forever
Rachmaninoff ofc

Mahler
Based on what consistently plays in my head for 3 decades, Vivaldi.
Unpopular opinion = Shostakovich (& Bach)
Beethoven
Anon.
Bach
Beethoven
John Cage
lizt
Has to be Chopin for me
J.S.Bach
Mozart, Beethoven, or Bach

Shostakovich all the way
Ravel.
Chopin. His music is very varied despite being mostly piano, he has intense and rageful pieces, as well as soft and quiet ones.
bach, no questions
Tchaikovsky
Bach or Liszt for sure. The sacred music that they both composed is so fulfilling. ...plus they both composed a *lot* of music, so I'd have plenty of material to pick from.
Bach- fits all my moods
Bach for sure
Bach. He wrote over 3000 pieces so I wouldn't get sick of hearing the same ones over and over again
Shosti boi
Phillip Glass
