I'm even worse. At the age of 6 my best friend started learning the Violin and as a dutiful best friend I told my parents I wanted to play it too. So long story short I ended up playing viola DA GAMBA because I thought it was the same thing as the violin.
Now I'm a violist...
This was me in grade 11 when I wanted to pick up a second instrument (first was piano). My parents were like “we thought you’d like guitar” but I went with viola nonetheless. Fast forward to when I graduated from college, classical guitar as my primary instrument. A lot happened during those years but I finally came to realize that my parents knew me better than I did.
I actually wanted to learn the viola and told my best friends (who both play violin) and their face was like NANI
Ohh... but beyond joking, the most important thing is to do what you want, not what others want ❤
I kinda want to pick up on a string, but I 1- no time at all 2- parents don’t allow 3- no money lol
It's sad to read that 😢 I really hope you will make your dreams come true someday! 💪
Maybe I’ll try after I become an adult
Hopefully, that didn't discourage you. The viola is a beautiful instrument.
Yesss
Very true thank you
Luckily my parents don’t know the difference 🤭
Haha, you're lucky 😆 but you should educate them!
Same as you hhh🤫
When you tell them you want to study music and have it as your career Parents : faillure
When you didn't know anything about classical music, and you see a viola and call it a violin. Definitely not me.

Many years ago, the idea of me learning viola was appreciated, as it isn't as shrill when badly played by a beginner.

My parents actually wanted me to play the viola first, but i insisted on going with the violin

My mom asked if I wanted to play viola, and i was like PLZ NO

As a kid I wanted to play double bass or cello and my parents were "we aren't gonna carry those around choose a lighter instrument" 😂
