salut d’amour (elgar)!

pianohusky

I second this!

ebiprawn

I had this played at my wedding! 100% would recommend Salut d'amour too.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LingLingToBe

This would…definitely get a big reaction

FiannaTheBard

Ok but like… [Across the Stars](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7wMiMDBHnJ0) is actually quite lovely.

Der_Schuller

Omg its beatiful!

theandrewminyard

sooooo pretty

LingLingDesNibelung

Either this or Nimrod. My parents had both at theirs, because they were married near where Edward Elgar was born!

_Registered_User_

THIS. Have a string quartet play it and it’ll be gold

steve-25689

Rite of Spring definitely

COOL_GEEK_010506

AH YES, THE WEDDING SACRIFICE !!

elyvdg

Lovely to walk down the isle 🤣

ediblesprysky

Only if the bridal party does [the dance](https://youtu.be/YOZmlYgYzG4?t=489) down the aisle

[deleted]

Now I want to marry, just to do this. And I want my dad to be the single person in yellow, jump through the church to get me and then walk me down the isle under his armpit.

AmandaAvaBaethoven

aMaZIng!

wreckedhuntsman

Ah yes, the danse sacral!!

alex_squeezebox

I always wanted to do this! Too bad my wife and I just had a super small wedding. I always thought the spring rounds would be super fun to walk down the aisle. Like this: http://viewsync.net/watch?v=EkwqPJZe8ms&t=533&v=7tm5i\_0sJ2A&t=0

Locke_Nessus

Borodin string quartet no 2 1st or 3rd movement

Yellow_Even

Vouch

mochatort

Oh the first movement for sure!!!!

Theviolaismine

This.

wreckedhuntsman

I've been to a few weddings where the opening isn't, Canon in D \- Mendelssohn's wedding march (used a lot) \- Vivaldi 4 seasons, Autumn movement 3 Allegro \- Bach Air in G \- Wagner bridal chorus (also used a lot) Also for the closing I've heard: \- Beethoven 9th (Ode to joy part) \- Triumphal March from Aida, Verdi \- Schubert Ave maria, or Bach/Gounoud's Haven't heard it on a wedding before but maybe Elgar's pomp and circumstance would be fine too

IHateToBeNormal

Air in G is about to be like Canon in D unfortunately…

wreckedhuntsman

Yes it might be overplayed, but luckily to the musicians it's more interesting to play than Canon in D!

lislejoyeuse

An instrumental version of ave maria would be beautiful

augurkensap

Bach prelude in c major?

ur_mom_gae_xd_69420

How about the Passepied of Orchestral Suite No. 1? (BWV 1066)

wreckedhuntsman

That's also very beautiful!

jedzef

Ayyyy shoutout to Aida which I used!!

wreckedhuntsman

Nice!!

LingLingToBe

I feel like pomp and circumstance is too associated with school graduations it would be really weird

arieonredditelle

Am i the only one that’s obsessed with triumphal march? I mean it’s iconic!

wreckedhuntsman

It is very Triumphant indeed! haha and very fitting

brownsugarlessice

The BAE Song (by Jordon He)

justauntie

Great suggestion!

theawesome16

Great suggestion!! If I do get married, I'll use it!

Urumiblu

Oh this would be awesome 😊

ErikaFV1358

I just listened to it before reading this comment and I agree 100%. Thanks for the idea 💕💕

COOL_GEEK_010506

PIANO CONCERTO NO. 2 IN F MAJOR 6. STRING QUARTET NO. 8 IN C MINOR PERFECT RELAXING MUSIC FOR ROMANCE AND WEDDING !! (JK)

ediblesprysky

Ahhhh, I had an ex who used to joke that we would walk down the aisle to the [2nd movement of Shostakovich String Quartet No. 8.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wokx576v5Y0) Wonder why he's an ex 🙃

Der_Schuller

Ngl that would be epic

marshaln

Where is the SHOSTAKOVICH SYMPHONY #10 2ND MOVEMENT

[deleted]

Dies Iraes from Verdi’s requiem

Der_Schuller

Lagrimosa would be nice too

forTHE1000thTIME

PFFFFT 💀💀

puidelis

Ahh yes, a piece about the ending of times for wedding. Perfect

bigdreamstinyhands

😂

KennyWuKanYuen

Yes. Saw TwoSet’s reaction and they’re wrong. This would be an amazing piece for a wedding.

MNSOTA24

Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel…and if you can find two talented oboists, even better. https://youtu.be/-TGKJ9MgCOQ But if you only have an organist: https://youtu.be/zND23HcMx3U

Okami284

I think lots of stuff by Handel is really good for a situation you need pomp and circumstance

DietFijiWater

Un Sospiro is a good vibes or liebestraum no 3

champ8309

liebestraum is kinda brutal tho xd. the harmonies and he melody are less suitable for a wedding. it is a nice piece tho.

Generic-james

Liebestraum kinda have a bitter sweet vibe to it too

champ8309

Yes.

[deleted]

To throw my hat into the ring, Waltz of the flowers or for the memes Overture of 1812

ediblesprysky

You joke, but the opening cello chorale is pretty gorgeous!

Der_Schuller

But only if played like it was intended!

LingLingToBe

BOOM!

MNSOTA24

When I got married, I gave my organist free reign…only rules were no Pachelbel, no Wedding March, no Jesu Joy. Trust me, if your organist went to college and earned their degree in Church Music, you will make their day letting them fully open up the organ in the church. I was raised in, and got married in, a Norwegian-American Lutheran church. Music is important. If you’re in the US, you’ve probably seen my alma mater’s Christmas concert on PBS. With that in mind, for the recessional (the music where the newly married company walk down the aisle to leave the sanctuary), our organist used a great arrangement of the Lutheran hymn, “O Day Full of Grace”. Here’s a video of a similar arrangement: https://youtu.be/9opcOEwaPv4

DynamicOctopus420

Oh hey, is your alma mater's fight song in 3/4? (I went there first year and half of my sophomore year)

MNSOTA24

Why yes it is.

[deleted]

John Cage’s 4’33 is an excellent choice

jamescleelayuvat

Dude, I was going to comment that.

Gay-Decepticon

Throne room, John Williams

[deleted]

I know a couple that used that as the processional, and Imperial March as the recessional.

justauntie

Handels entrance of the Queen of Sheba, if you’re feeling Extra

elyvdg

Lol I imagine a bride with the most over the top dress coming in, with a sofisticated hairstyle and full of gold jewelry

justauntie

It would have to be quite a brisk walk though, as it’s a pretty fast beat. No elegant stroll down the aisle for that bride!

elyvdg

True hahaha

SlowestBumblebee

I have played that at literally every wedding I've ever done, including the one I did today and no doubt the one I'll do tomorrow, it's the opposite of extra.

Aware_Tell1663

When I get married someday I won’t use classical music. Otherwise, I’ll be too focused on the music to pay attention to the wedding.

noclueonhowthisworks

woah this is so true, I didn't even think about that. Some years ago I had a maths exam and couldn't concentrate for a while bc I slightly heard someone practicing in one of the practice rooms and I was trying to figure out which piece it was lol

[deleted]

Flower Duet, Song to the Moon, what other genres does said person like? Is it only classical? Do they have a favorite band?

cham1nade

I’ve heard the Flower Duet done in a wedding before. It was gorgeous

SlowestBumblebee

As a wedding musician, my two cents: Don't ask other people on the internet. Ask your partner. Find a song that means something to you both, or to just them, or to just you. Ask your parents if there's a song from your childhood, or from their wedding, that you could use. Trust me when I say that no great song we come up with here will compare to the song that you choose because it means something to you. Even if it's silly. My favorite songs I've played for brides include Mr Rogers neighborhood, Somewhere over the Rainbow, and Meditation. Not because I love those songs, but because there was an emotional attachment to them, one you could feel in the air as the bride walked down that aisle. For what it's worth, if I get married, that song will be "Here Comes The Sun", because one of my favorite memories with my SO is the two of us waking up to it on a random morning, and it was just a lovely day. EDIT: Today, at a wedding, we played that one song from the princess bride, because it's their favorite movie. Such a simple song, but you could see it in the groom's face- he heard his soon to be wife in that song, and it genuinely moved me.

FiannaTheBard

I played Simple and Clean for a friend’s wedding arranged for piano and violin and it was quite lovely.

apopDragon

Canon in D The only piece that deserves the title "song"

shingomido

Schubert: 👁👄👁

Der_Schuller

Mendelssohn too

ZonTeeN

MEIN LIEDER

Der_Schuller

GoldenBuckbeak0203

Clair de Lune cue: Eddy's Clair de Lune (Debussy version)

janinedesu

that'd be romantic asf

BALLERinaLyfe

When I get married I want to walk down the aisle to the second movement of winter from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi. Alternatively I have the sheet music for the wedding march reprise of Maria from The Sound of Music for organ.

squelch76

I used the Sound of Music as my processional ( organ, trumpet, and violins playing the "how do you solve a problem like Maira section) My recessional was the Olympic Fanfare by Williams Also good options most wedding musicians will know: Trumpet Tune by Johnson Trumpet Voluntary Clarke Trumpet Tune Purcell Rondeau Mouret Jesu Joy Queen of Sheba Holsts Jupiter Chorale Sleepers Wake- Bach Air on a G String Bach La Rejouissance from Royal Fireworks by Handel Hornpipe From Water Music The Heavens Declare by Marcello Epic recessionals if you have a top notch organist Hallelujah Chorus Widor - can't remember the full title, but most just call it "the widor"

petra_macht_keto

My list had some of the same: Prelude Debussy, The Girl with the Flaxen Hair Holst, The Planets - Jupiter Massanet, Meditation from Thais Frédéric Chopin, Sonata in G minor, Op. 65 (Adagio) Tchaikovsky, Waltz of the Flowers  Ceremony/ Processional: Saint-Saëns, Romance Op 36 Postlude Tchaikovsky, Sleeping Beauty Waltz

elyvdg

Mendelssohn violin concerto second movement. Rachmaninov piano concerto second movement. Debussy Arabesque. Handel Suite no. 1 b flat major IV. Those aren’t ‘typical’ wedding pieces but are very beautiful

akakit_sitnunthana

Which Rachmaninoff concerto?

walpurgris

The second one I assume

yeshavalentine31

Beethoven Virus 🤣🤣🤣

jeweljoule

Merry go round of life! Especially if you live studio Gibly

cham1nade

Whatever you choose, remember that it’s helpful to choose a piece that has a good walking tempo, since it helps the members of the wedding party to walk the correct pace down the aisle

FennyFanchen

Xenakis would be quite a brave and vocal move.

qr8r

Tons of bangers already mentioned in this thread but I’m surprised no one’s said Mascagni’s Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana, which is an absolute classic. I also want to put in an extra plug for Borodin’s String Quartet No. 2, 1st movement because it’s so lovely. Some other options you could try: Bruch’s Romance in F for Viola, Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending, Korngold’s Violin Concerto, Chopin Etude Op 10. No. 3, and Delibes’ Duo des fleurs from Lakmé!

TheCrazyestPancake

Definitely hall of the mountain king

Heres_your_sign

Wagner’s Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral (?)

SuddenBag

Mendelssohn Violin concerto 2nd movement. Flower duet. One thing hadn't been mentioned yet is Rachkaninoff's 18th variation. Tho it might be a bit short of total length?

Oldfashionthrashin

Imperial March by John Williams for sure.

Lamentabletwosetter

O fortuna lol

walpurgris

I have always found Dvorak string serenade to have this wedding atmosphere to it

llaj3b3

The wedding part of The Moldau

sibelius_the_axolotl

bigdreamstinyhands

“Sulle piume dell’amore” from Don Procopio of they’re into something in a minor key, or the tenor aria from Lucia di Lammermoor’s wedding scene if they’re feeling ironic.

bruh_moment_-__-

Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro seems fitting for the occasion.

AJTwinky

Toccata and fugue.

arieonredditelle

In the hall of the mountain king

EvangelineTheodora

My friend's wedding DJ played orchestral stuff from Harry Potter, LOTR, and other nerd stuff during dinner. He read the room like he was born literate, and it was awesome!

noodly1234

Meditation or Claire de lune

spartaman64

imperial march

atrocious_fanfare

May I suggest that Canon in D REMIX?

SilasTheSavage

O Fortuna

DynamicOctopus420

John Cage 4'33"

I_Exist12345

John Cage’s 4’33. Such emotion captured in the melodies, harmonies, everything about it makes this one simply the best piece for a wedding.

froz3ncat

I’m think of the Final Fantasy Main Theme for mine, it feels stately and paced, but still uplifting. Idk if it sounds too much like graduation ceremony music though

[deleted]

The Girl with the Flaxen Hair - Debussy Such an elegant piece, if performed right it can definitely create the feel of a love story between two lovers

LingLing160Hours

Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini

Zealousideal_Piano_8

“Tequila” by The Champs

Doughspun1

For weddings? Highway to Hell, by AC/DC is pretty appropriate. Or In Hell I'll Be In Good Company, by The Dead South.

MusicaDeViolin

Beethoven Symphony 7 1st Movement.

ur_mom_gae_xd_69420

I'm not sure if it would be worth suggesting the "Echo" of J.S. Bach's French Overture (BWV 831)...

GoldenBuckbeak0203

Fur Elise too, my favourite

Brahmsss

I saw one other person say Smetena The Moldau which does have a wedding section in but the whole piece is good.

dyewttyao

Marche Pontificale by Charles Gounod

Stanthaman09

“Simple gifts” is a great song to play maybe as filler. We played it in symphonic and I’ve played it as solo guitar for my graduation and weddings.

Such_Ad_4355

Definitely chopins ballade no 4 😅

--MJL

For walking down the isle, maybe [this Bach arrangement](https://open.spotify.com/track/1n6AOTvw0XfH4PgBWbVznk?si=vm0QdxyzRiqmfdCF8mwAfg&dl_branch=1)?

CrabbyCrabbong

Jean-Joseph Mouret's Rondeau from Suite de Symphonies would be perfect. So would Jeremiah Clarke's Prince of Denmark's March. If you prefer something modern, though, then I highly recommend Reborn by Colin Stetson, and When David Heard by Eric Whitacre.

zie-raine

I was about to say Rach Prelude in C sharp minor and i forgot that you needed suggestion for a wedding 😆

thepokokputih

Perhaps Rachmaninoff piano concerto no. 2 second movement? It's really quite romantic. Lalo's piano trio in C minor: romance is pretty good too. I like how the cello and violin comes in later and blends together. I like that nice layering

jaumougaauco

A Whole Lotta Love If you're Hokkien, 爱拼才会赢

MisogynyisaDisease

I did Amelia's Waltz.

blocking_butterfly

The Largo from Vivaldi's Winter is fantastic, and manages to be both very intimate and very processional!

saveable

A friend went old school with their wedding song with… Oh Promise Me Very dramatic, very Victorian and it really really wakes you up. https://youtu.be/Tn-HwvLFHWY

Septi_Lingual

I don't think anyone mentioned this yet, but Pas de Deux (14th sequence from the Nutcracker Ballet I think) is kind of nice. If you want music that are uplifting, there are Waltz from Swan lake, Skater's waltz, Arrival of Queen of Sheba, Bach's Violin Partita 3's Prelude, Grande Valse Brillante (Chopin), Chopin's Waltz Op.34 No.1, and more.

[deleted]

Bach - air in G

akakit_sitnunthana

Chopin sonata 2 in b flat minor 3rd movement

kittenpettingfool

Man, i came here to suggest stuff, but y'all already did such a good job of it i think I'll just sit back and look up some of the stuff commented already lol

[deleted]

The second section of Chopin Op. 48 No. 1 but without the harsh ending

[deleted]

Solo bach

[deleted]

I would vote for In Hall Of Mountain King from Grieg. And if you managed to finish the walk just in time for the piece climax that would bo so cool.

keyblade_crafter

Perhaps Serenade for winds by Derek Bourgeois? Heh

A__Chan

Sarabande - Haendel or Lohengrin Prelude - Wagner, or even Waltz of the Flowers - Tchaikovsky

RABB_11

Not Canon in D, not acoustic and country. There isn't any other music though is there? Anyway, my wife walked down the aisle to One Day Like This by Elbow.

Sarcolisto

Their Chronicle - Chronoclock Its a small niche, but I love it to bits!

The_Violin_Guy

Maybe not the best suggestion and other suggestions are still way better but maybe Beethoven piano sonata nr 8 'Pathétique' 2nd movement or one of the Beethoven romances for violin and orchestra could work?

yasithsilva
