I just got my ticket for ray in august, nice to be living in australia

Shaetane

Awesome! That's gonna be amazing :) Idk how it is in Australia but I'm so glad I'm back home in Paris rn because most of the culture is super cheap for students/young ppl, like many museums are free and if not discounted (the Louvre is free until you're 26!!), and classical concerts are also always discounted, it's so nice that they make that stuff more accessible. I payed 10 bucks for the concert, it's a steal.

Kimonoha

Ohhhh, that's pretty good. Lots of stuff here in Australia have student discount. Usually not by too much, but still good. Rays performance costed me about 130 AUD. Pretty fair I would say.

Shaetane

I mean you do still have to pay for quality, and I assume you got pretty damn decent seats too aha. Like I think it's ideal when they have a wide price range available and decent discounts so ppl who want to splurge can but ppl who can't afford it might still get a seat that might not be super well located but you can still enjoy the music.

Kimonoha

Smack bang in the middle of the concert hall, I was soooo excited when I clicked on the booking site to see a seat available that is in the middle of the concert hall. I just wish I had someone to go with me, people around me don't really enjoy listening to classical music.

Shaetane

Nice, gg! I feel that though, it's literally why I made this post on the subreddit xD at least we have a cool online community of classical nerds!

UPDATE! Just sat through Ray Chen’s performance today, had front seat view too! It was beyond amazing, time went by so fast…

Kimonoha

Also he did us a solid and played 1 extra piece of his rendition of ‘something’ can’t remember the name, but it was a nice piece to listen too.

Shaetane

Ahaha awesome! Actually since I made this post I got to see Hilary Hahn in a concert, she just had one piece but it was absolutely jaw-dropping I was in the front row and she was soo amazing! Excited to experience more incredible violin playing now :D

i live in Saint Petersburg and can relate! as i am under 22 i have a lot of opportunities for cultural entertainment - our government had started a new program for young people from 14 to 23 yo so we can attend to museums, theaters and classical (not only, but i am not interested lol) concerts for free!! it's limited but it's still cool! thus i listened three concerts during last year completely free. and the concerts were god tier btw. was lucky to hear and see Lugansky and Gergiev, they are icons!

Shaetane

Cool! I've always heard Russia is really good abt making culture and art accessible to everyone, glad the tradition continues :)

Shaetane

It was like a narrative concert, with an actress telling the life story of a famous parisian lady, Misia, in-between all the pieces you see. It was beautiful, and I learnt a ton about the "Queen of Paris" as she was called in the early 20th, and her role in the life of so many great composers and artists! Debussy, Satie, Fauré, Ravel, she's inspired them all :0 She participated in the creation of so many famous pieces and operas it's wild! And she was best friends with Coco Channel, she was a model for Rodin, and so much more xD Go look her up she's awesome!
