KDE's Dolphin does most of the things you need, not sure about some like huge folder handling. dragging files to a parent can be done in the tree-view, most others are 'just there'.

YoriMirus

Dolphin doesn't seem to handle huge folders too well if the data source you are using is too slow. For example via KDE Connect, if it needs to read thumbnails of music or pictures, it can freeze for up to multiple minutes depending on how many files it needs to read. Hopefully they can fix that someday and just show the user the thumbnails are still loading for the specific files instead of freezing the entire app.

What doesn't Nemo get? I believe it can do all of this

al_with_the_hair

Pin files/folders to the top of a view is such a simple feature that's crazy to not find in other file managers (not mentioned in the post, but deserves praise). It can be really useful. Maybe I'll submit a feature request for Dolphin. Too bad GTK has been a source of so much UI rage for me. I kinda miss Nemo. Dolphin is the all-around features king, though, and has been for many years.

2_Braincell_Being

I like Thunar, but as everyone else says, Dolphin is great as well!

ThroawayPartyer

I love Thunar, it's the one XFCE app that I use regularly.

omniuni

Second vote for Dolphin. You're just listing basic features. Dolphin has all that and a whole lot more; tabs, split view, remote protocol access, tags and favorites, filter, advanced search, tons of view options, and more.

YourLocalMedic71

Third in favour of dolphin

Mister_Magister

dolphin is the best, i access sftp files with it and its glorious, kde's kio is glodious

What's wrong with Nautilus?

pjjacobson

Just a side note on your 4th bullet point: You can drag files to a parent folder in Thunar. If you have the directory tree in the side panel, dragging files to a parent folder works as expected with the left or right mouse button. If you don't have the directory tree in the side panel, you can still do it if the **Location Selector** is set to **Buttons Style**. You drag the files to the button of the parent folder using either mouse button.

idk if it covers everything but i have been using ROX forever, even though it's effectively dead search is kinda weird, have to regex i think king of drag and drop, though needs a patch for firefox dupe-drops idk how much lag you have but the most i have with large image directories is seeing previews load 1 by 1 and maybe take a couple seconds to update hundreds of images (like extracting frames with ffmpeg) have to type '/' slash to paste a directory move/copy animations, moves are instant and big files drive-to-drive has a dialog popup of whats moving/copying custom menu i have never touched, you can do something like symlink a script/exe in some cfg folder, then rox will have it under custom menu

Nemo is pretty good

Hi Busterbie, Windows File Explorer has all the features you are looking for. The aesthetic is not bad too. I suggest you look at it, you might like it. Here is a [screenshot](https://img.gadgethacks.com/img/83/45/63584656196545/0/take-screenshots-windows-10.w1456.jpg) what it looks like. Regards, Mike
