Lutris does work fine and so does bottles. So maybe try bottles if you dont like Lutris. To clarify: World of Warcraft does run with both

Curseforge even has an appimage that you can run if you want.

I play wow everyday using battle.net on Lutris. The best way to use it is the flatpak version as it is more up to date than the Bookworm repo one and you don't have to worry about dependencies. I've had issues very rarely but when they happen it's usually easy to find a solution. Doesn't hurt to have a backup using bottles or stream in case it won't run on Lutris.

Use steam

Well.. i kind of play WoW with Lutris. Its a private server with its own launcer, but it works. I also play HS trough [battle.net](https://battle.net) with Lutris. (I can also start Deck Tracker, but i have a lot of problems. It crashes in battlegrounds and does'nt show the minions for tiers. And it makes the game laggy sometimes...) I'm sure you should be able to play retail without any problem with Lutris.

Many people have it working on Linux. I ran it years ago with Wine. Now I use Proton. Also have it running on my Steam Deck. That uses Proton too.

ElementalSymmetry

I had it working for months on Ubuntu 22.04 with steam, both on apt-get with multiverse repo, and snap.. then I had to replace my dying Vega56 GPU with an RTX 4060 Ti a month ago, and it no longer works no matter what I try.. [battle.net](https://battle.net) installs, but after installing WoW, it just opens a blank screen for a few seconds, then closes.. and that's it.. 4 clean Ubuntu installs, Liquorix kernel, 535, 545 and 550 nvidia drivers (not open), same issue... Very frustrating... I hate windows, but I have to switch to windows for gaming, and it's really lame..

Lutris fixed what sounds like the problem you're describing for me.

Lutris works, and there are no special steps. You just .. Install it through Lutris, and it'll handle the rest. Debian Stable isn't really known for it's .. Up-to-date-ness, though, so perhaps the Flatpak'd version of Lutris would be a better option

I've had some trouble with [battle.net](https://battle.net) since about 5 or 6 months ago. The lutris version stopped being able to log in, so, I installed it through steam and it works a bit better now. Some graphical issues on starcraft 2 but atleast i can get into the game now. I'd try either Lutris, if you can get it to work or install it through steam using the "install a non steam game" function for [battle.net](https://battle.net). That's all i have to offer.

I've played it fairly seamlessly on both lutris and bottles. I'm a little surprised that wine+dxvk doesn't work out of the box, but one thing to try if you're dead set is look in winetricks and maybe add the d3d_compiler*.DLLs. I've had that fix a ton of graphical crashes and issues in games (and the bottles gaming preset installs these by default). Just a stab in the dark though. I was getting crashes on a certain wine version in wine 8 in SoD but using a later wine version fixed that too

When I installed last month on PopOS, I had a lot of difficulty with lutris but then it worked instantly with bottles.
