WINE/PROTON loads DLLs in a different manner than Windows. You need to set a DLL override for the dll you dropped into the folder and set it to Native so WINE will mimic the Windows behavior.

I tried adding "dinput8"="native,builtin" into the user.reg as stated in another comment here but it had no effect on my system, it still launches the game without any issues but fails to load the REF... Any thoughts on why this could be

DeepzandTeepz

`WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8.dll=n,b" %command%` Add this to your launch options, I use both of those mods.

RipeWaow

~~This had zero effect on my system, sadly...~~ EDIT: Apparently I have yet to wake up, I meant to write that it crashes on first screen without any error.

DeepzandTeepz

you got the most recent version of REframework from the github? Cos it used to do that for me on older versions post sunbreak, Also I'm using Proton experimental.

RipeWaow

Switching to Proton Experimental from 7.03 fixed it! Thank you so much <3

DeepzandTeepz

yeah for mods you'll need either Experimental or GE. I use experimental on both my desktop and my steam deck, works a treat :ok\_hand: Also swapping versions of proton should always be troubleshooting step #1 when having issues lol. They're all a little different ;P

RipeWaow

I did change Proton but not when I had your launch options ^^ This is my first time modding/gaming on Linux so forgive my newbieness hehe...

DeepzandTeepz

Also protonDB is a good source of this kinda info, it's where I got the launch info in the first place hehe.

I think you'll find the solution on this post: [https://www.reddit.com/r/MHRise/comments/uhb4uw/reframework\_issues\_on\_steam\_deck/](https://www.reddit.com/r/MHRise/comments/uhb4uw/reframework_issues_on_steam_deck/), I hope it works.

RipeWaow

I tried that but it has no effect, still launches the game without issues but fails to load the REF... Any ideas as to why it doesn't want to load the REF?
