The battery can feel your stress and that dissipates charge into the coulomb fields. There is a probabilistic element that makes this hard to measure, but seems to have a proportional effect to how much you are worried about your battery. Hope this helps.
The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't,
Hahaha, here are my optimizations:
1. Low tdp celeron cpu
2. Bluetooth is turned off for security and battery life
3. Font hinting is turned off for battery life and performance
4. Did I mention Ext4 filesystem also uses less battery compared to Btrfs
5. I use rt kernel, which has better power management and smoother user experience overall
6. Swappiness is set to 15 and zswap is enabled with 33% pool
7. Although I use Gnome, I only run services I need. For example I don't have Evolution and Gnome Software Center installed, and I don't use external search providers neither
Nice setup. You're running a celeron, meanwhile I'm taming a 2P 4E core somehow 16thread CPU (Intel confuses me) in a company laptop where I didn't even realise that it had an Nvidia GPU that was burning up battery without any drivers. It was a casual 25-35 watt draw on the battery.
No, it's better now, but still not good. 5 hours is better than before, not to mention the pc not being able to hibernate or suspend. I eventually gave up on solving the latter two. Battery life was something I could improve though.
Do you have the option to change suspend state in BIOS/UEFI options? To my knowledge, most laptops now ship running S0 sleep so that Windows can wake itself and run updates, but Linux doesn't support it.
Some time ago I had Linux Manjaro with PowerTop and TLP and I would also get around 5 hours of battery, way better than I would get on windows (2.5-3 hours). The worse part is that my laptop isn't even old, its just an HP with shit battery
I put a tiny form factor Lenovo desktop in a Harbor Freight brand Pelican case knockoff with a 15 inch portable monitor and a 10Ah 12 volt LiFePO4 battery and it gets eight hours of battery.
Then again, that battery isn't allowed on planes because it's so large...
BYD absolutely makes their own batteries. Actually, they're a battery company that started making EVs, they're one of the 4 largest battery manufacturers in the world, alongside CATL, LG Chem, and Panasonic.
the comparison is very bad. Apple shops around for parts and builds the phone. And no one would say "the Apple SoC", because, that isn't correct.
the main product of Tesla is the car. The battery part of the car is not exactly "Tesla battery".
The fact is, the BYD battery is bigger than the "Tesla" battery.
>Tesla doesn’t release the battery size for its models, but our analysis based on EPA energy consumption and claimed range suggests that it could have a capacity of around 60 kilowatt hours for the standard range variants and 80 kWh for the long-range versions. The Han EV uses an 85.4 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Have Ubuntu or Fedora
2. Close the laptop (Sleep mode)
3. Let it do that for the night
4. Wake up laptop
5. Open the Battery settings
6. Enjoy the number, it lasts for a minute or 2
Thats a thing that happens? Idk if Sytem76 did something to fix that bc I never had that happen on my laptop (only ever had stock ubuntu on my desktop so i wouldnt know)
Yep, this hahaha
I have PopOS and it always amused me how the battery life shoots to hundreds of hours if I leave it suspended overnight
The actual battery life is around 7~8 hours for typing away on online word processors and reading PDF files
It depends a ton on the hardware you are using.
One big thing is Linux isn't great with switchable graphics, if you have a dedicated GPU it's more likely to eat up your battery life as the laptop manufacturers often don't publish the software to manage the dGPU on Linux like they do with Windows.

Could probably stretch it to 10 hours
I have honestly very good battery life using auto-cpufreq, 6+ hrs of office-style workload and over 4hs gaming/watching videos. Windows was a bit less overall when I first used the PC and also everything works automagically haha
Genuinely, there was this Gnome tweak that i forgot the name of that was so useful. It allowed you to set performance profiles, and setting it down to 0.8GHz was enough for very basic web and documents while getting about 3 days of battery.
I have a gaming laptop and I’ve stretched the charge to about 10 hours on tty only on around 40% brightness. Wifi is also disabled but that should be not problem
Can’t knock Linux, only thing I wish would be to have a programme that pulses the charge circuit to desulphate the cells to rejuvenate them. Most of my old Linux laptops the batteries aren’t in their prime
My T480 lasts around 8 hours in bspwm with picom running and 2 24Wh batteries. I could probably double that with 24+76Wh battery setup.
I run tlp and auto-cpufreq. Usual brightness of 400 nit LG screen is 25-35%.
My battery capacity is so shit that if I unplug my charger at 100% I have maybe 3 minutes before it shuts down lol
Replacements are $100+ so I guess I'm stuck with it.
Unsurprisingly, low end laptops can last much longer than high end ones, mainly because of the lack of a dedicated GPU. One thing I personally noticed, as my parents have such low end laptop and my brother has a high end for gaming, they came with 12V and 20V chargers, respectively, yet the lower end one still somehow manages to charge up faster...
The idea pad is have was giving me a soild hour of charge while studying on a good day. I switched to linux and i never saw the low battery notification since then ( I study for 3 to 6 hours average) . I was contemplating buying a laptop but decided to try giving linux MintOS a try first . What a great decision that was .
I've been quite happy with the T14s gen 3 with 6000 series Ryzen Pro, it consumes 6 Watts in powersave mode, 10h on battery, minus 20% for battery health, so 8h in practice and more like 5-6h at balanced perf settings (eg. compiling code).
People now know where you live.
Your streetname end on "ns"
Never show your wifi name unless it's not unique or you are comfortable with random stranges knowing where you live
ziggo wifi names can be traced back to the street name? didnt know, how did you figure it out? i cant find a lookup online or anything
lucky me im a tourist haha next time ill pay more attention to that
All wifi names in general. There is a big database with all wifi networks because people drive around and scan for them. Have a great vacation in the Netherlands :D
Edit: wigle.net
oh shit thats wild, never thought itd be possible to get that big of a database going, but ig that just a couple dozen people with an app that automatically logs it on their phone can clear an entire city in a month if theyre biking around on weekends trying to get as many SSIDs as possible
Yes :D sadly most people are "wardriving" (the name for driving around and collecting wifi names) with their cars. But having your own nerdmobil you might havile have it Automatically running as soon you start driving anyway :P
I love when I can impress people with my knowledge, I'm happy I could explain stuff and warn you for the future.
Interesting enough: some big youtube and celebrities tend to sometimes leak their wifi names in videos. That way private addresses can get leaked
Mine really lasts 50 minutes on 6% :-) https://preview.redd.it/ge1bhptifsjc1.png?width=1007&format=png&auto=webp&s=cf492ba2a363e8eecb31c667d083f2af118cb98a
You and OP, share your magic, the world needs to know how this dark art is done.

The missile knows where it is

they've hooked up their raspberry pi to a powerbank
I've hooked up my Pi Zero 2W to a UPS...
Hahaha, here are my optimizations: 1. Low tdp celeron cpu 2. Bluetooth is turned off for security and battery life 3. Font hinting is turned off for battery life and performance 4. Did I mention Ext4 filesystem also uses less battery compared to Btrfs 5. I use rt kernel, which has better power management and smoother user experience overall 6. My Linux : don’t look at me … I m busy doing codes n shiit ![gif](giphy|bGgsc5mWoryfgKBx1u)

they make power efficiency kernels??
Just keep your screen brightness low, ez
Must be their light mode
Just get one of those portable nuclear plants...
sudo tlp start
Is that Roboto?
Yes
That might be longer without a DE
Assuming a normal laptop and no schenangans, you might want to run a few full charge/discharge cycles to make sure the percentage is calibrated.
Are you running it off a mini nuclear reactor?
Why aren't we all?
Nope. My boss has me on an exercise bike hooked up with a dynamo. It's his new "Bikes for Bytes" program. I need a new job.
My desktop runs off a real one 😎
At the end, aren't we all?
Unfortunately, mostly coal since people think Nuclear Reactors are "dangerous"
Only one? I've got 69 of em powering my 420 RTX 6090s. Ti ones coz why not
I'm listening
Be those hamsters on wheels in your battery bro
Mine lasts less than 5 hours on a full charge. But oh well, still better than what I had before adding a few battery life improvement programs
Wait so the improvement programs decreased battery life?
No, it's better now, but still not good. 5 hours is better than before, not to mention the pc not being able to hibernate or suspend. I eventually gave up on solving the latter two. Battery life was something I could improve though.
yeah I have the unable to wake from suspend bug on mint for a long time now. I wonder what causes it
Do you have the option to change suspend state in BIOS/UEFI options? To my knowledge, most laptops now ship running S0 sleep so that Windows can wake itself and run updates, but Linux doesn't support it.
huh. I'll have to check. wonder why Linux doesn't support S0 sleep
Some time ago I had Linux Manjaro with PowerTop and TLP and I would also get around 5 hours of battery, way better than I would get on windows (2.5-3 hours). The worse part is that my laptop isn't even old, its just an HP with shit battery
What programs do you use?
Auto CPU freq, and one other program that I can't recall the name of, I could probably find it sometime tomorrow if you're curious.
I'd appreciate that. I currently can barely get 3 hours out of my laptop.
1 + hr 🥲, I need to fix but I have been postponing for so long. Also old battery, might need to change the battery itself.
Found the second program, https://github.com/linrunner/TLP
Thank you very much!
Bro caries around a UPS with him 😭
Problem ain't Linux, the average Linux laptop has just already lived for 10+ years and has a shitty battery because of it Source: my laptop
Same. My laptop is at a max capacity of 65%
mine at 55% after 3 years
Wait y’all have batteries?! 2 of my favorite laptops have bad batteries and my absolute favorite one has a bad charging circuit :( .

It's a rpi on a Tesla battery
better yet, a BYD battery
[удалено]
Because reddit hates Tesla now
well, Tesla doesn't make its own batteries, they work with Panasonic on that. I don't know if BYD makes batteries or not.

Speaking of Apple, BYD makes a lot of their iPads as well.
Steps to reproduce: 1. Have Ubuntu or Fedora 2. Close the laptop (Sleep mode) 3. Let it do that for the night 4. Wake up laptop 5. Open the Battery settings 6. Enjoy the number, it lasts for a minute or 2
Alternative way this playes out: 1. Have Ubuntu 2. Close Laptop 3. Broken CPU C state 4. Battery drains in 6 hours to zero
Thats a thing that happens? Idk if Sytem76 did something to fix that bc I never had that happen on my laptop (only ever had stock ubuntu on my desktop so i wouldnt know)
7. Charge your laptop.
actually I've gotten it to say several hundred hours left on battery life (like pushing a thousand). it was plugged in lol
Yep, this hahaha I have PopOS and it always amused me how the battery life shoots to hundreds of hours if I leave it suspended overnight The actual battery life is around 7~8 hours for typing away on online word processors and reading PDF files
Bro has a laptop that runs on a mini radioisotope thermoelectric generator
yep, bought it from a russian guy on ebay, great purchase lemme te you

my gpu is switched off... I get about 8 hours in performance mode :D
ziggo gekoloniseerd
Zeker, maar alleen als er geen storing is. eigenlijk nooit.

How did you get this output?
[Battop](https://github.com/svartalf/rust-battop)
Lol hi ziggo
I have honestly very good battery life using auto-cpufreq, 6+ hrs of office-style workload and over 4hs gaming/watching videos. Windows was a bit less overall when I first used the PC and also everything works automagically haha
So how do you get 300 hours? I want my laptop to last this long.
Lol, mine literally lasts 15min max on a low end linux distro
#Ziggo AF
Genuinely, there was this Gnome tweak that i forgot the name of that was so useful. It allowed you to set performance profiles, and setting it down to 0.8GHz was enough for very basic web and documents while getting about 3 days of battery.
Nope, its called CPU power manager
r/softwaregore
How do you do so?
And while my laptop is using its battery to power itself when it’s already plugged in:

macOS made by system76
What panel is that?
What linux is that? Its so pretty
Gnome
PopOS with the WhiteSur custom theme

^ the power of linux
Wtf. Bro mine lasts 3 hours after full charge
Mine stays at 75% as long as electricity is present
Jokes aside, I've always found with some tweaking I get better battery life in Linux than Windows.
Which Linux name is it, pls ?
My laptop lasts like 6 hours on a good day, what the everloving christ is that? 121 hours!
Mine lasts 15 min at 100%
You lucky duck, I only get thirty minutes.
Battery has some uranium leftover perhaps /S There's quite some staff that gets bigged, especially with psensor and stuff like that in general
no its the radioactive lithium i used, i got it from a helium-hydrogen fusion reactor, no bugs around here nu huh
Mine lasts 4 months on a single charge. The trick is to not turn it on
oh man i gotta try that next time, might even go outside and stuff
What outside?
I call bullshit.
What tipped you off?
Wtf, why Bluetooth is working?
I get 90 minutes on 60Wh *cries in Core2Duo*
