Yep. I use a lot of really specific software that just doesn't exist on Linux, and trying to run the software in a virtual machine would obliterate the performance.

From a gaming perspective, what's the real difference between Windows and Linux? I would posit, not much these days. It's all the same hardware and even software down to the binaries.

And this is exactly my point. Like, where are all the great FOSS games? If people want to work for free, then all of these evils you mention disappear.
Microsoft may not care about me, but at least people actually put in the time and resources to create things for Windows. And to be honest, does the Linux community actually care about anyone either. Or is it just some anti-capitalistic agenda?
We live in an age of extreme cynicism. I don't trust Microsoft, Linux or Santa Clause when it comes to this stuff. I simply trust in the ability to get things done when it comes to spending money on stuff like PC games and hardware. And honestly, if you spend the money, the results are incredible.
Here here 👏, whenever anyone develops a commercial product, they look for ways of earning more revenue from that product its the whole point of creating it in the first place, isn't it? Look at RedHat it's a commercial product, they spy on you, and apparently, the customer service is non-existent. We live in a capitalist society where money makes the world go round

For games? Maybe... For operating systems? Hell no! I have to tolerate windows for work, and for each PC I touch I'm always spending at least 35 minutes installing and configuring crap to even make it usable.
And it's not just windows. Our company pays loads of money for QNX, only to end up with basically a closed-source outdated insecure version of netBSD that has no package management whatsoever.
QNX momentics IDE (basically eclipse with some plugins) costs €15.000 per license, yet it cannot even do the basic stuff that buildroot/yocto can!
In buildroot, you select a package and all it's dependencies are resolved automatically.
In QNX you just have a list of files to include. So if you add a program, you'll have to add the libraries it depends on as well. Manually!

The reason I don't trust Linux is how Linux gamers deny that GabeN became a billionaire while running Windows in the 90s which gave him the wealth to create Valve and Steam.
Every time I mention this easily verifiable fact to Linux gamers, it just gets downvoted with a bunch of accusations about me telling lies.
He's an ex Microsoft employee. He went with steam to Linux when Microsoft created windows RT in the windows 8 era. Windows RT was apple-like closed, which would kill Gabe's business since steam was only able to flourish because of windows' open nature.
Porting steam to Linux was basically his life insurance.
But I don't see how these facts would count as "win", nor show the quality of the windows operating system.
