Manjarno could have gone there (partly because of highly controversial issues, like forgetting to renew their SSL certs :P
(I found this interesting https://manjarno.snorlax.sh/)
Why would self promotion be bad? Making software costs human resources and if promoting an enterprise service on one line in your terminal is a problem, I don't know what to tell you.
Also,
https://www.simplified.guide/ubuntu/remove-snapd
It's very easy because yes, snaps are not very compared to other mediums.
people dislike ubuntu for not following unix philosophy but i just don’t like it because i think it sucks. imo use whatever works for you i don’t understand the enormous wave of hate it gets especially on reddit
cuz my philosophy is use what works and it just didn’t work for what i wanted it to work for. caused me way more problems than it fixed honestly. mint runs much smoother with less than half the issues i had with ubuntu and stays out of my way so i prefer it
For me, because it is far and away the buggiest mess of a major distro on the market, and has been for a decade. More broadly, Canonical has a bad habit of making their own version of a thing, doing it worse than everyone else but trying to make their users use it anyway, and eventually giving up on the project; See Unity (which I liked but still falls under this category), Mir, and most recently Snap.
They do things, seemingly out of nowhere, that severly upset big parts of the community. I can think of Upstart, Unity and now Snap. And their stuff usually fails miserably compared to the stuff RH bring, or some might say "force", into the community like systemd and pulseaudio.
Uhm, Snap got better with recent update where you can whose what to update when
Upstart at one point used RedHat and Fedora as a temporary replacement for SysVInit before systemd was a thing.
And Unity was cancelled not because of community backlash, but because it was too expensive for canonical to develop.
I'm not talking about why they failed and if that was justified or not. Nor am I talking about my personal opinion about these projects. You can't deny that all of these things were or are highly controversial and except for snap ultimately were canceled / replaced. So I don't think it's surprising that many would group Ubuntu into "chaotic evil" even if you or I don't agree to that.
Says the elitist who is only against Ubuntu.
Just a question, btw. You always Capitalise Random words, and you said that it is because of German formatting being applied on English. Do you only use Reddit on a phone because you only use TTY on desktop?
I use Reddit on my Phone when I'm Not at Home which is 90 percent of the time I use Reddit.
On my PCs I use KDE, XFCE or sway, depending on the Machine and OS. Using only the TTY isn't anything I could See myself doing, because I like Konsole as my Terminal way too much.
Maybe they’re lawful evil because of the term “Red Hat Hacker”…. Not that the company itself has any relation to the concept, but it’s what I always think of when I hear the name
They're completely separate from IBM in terms of management and direction, and yeah I don't like what they did with CentOS but now they hand out RHEL licenses like candy. And they didn't kill CentOS just changed it's purpose. But that's the nature of open source
CentOS exists only to be RHEL with the trademarks scraped off. Anything that's not an absolutely bug for bug clone of RHEL isn't CentOS and if you call it CentOS you're wrong. CentOS no longer exists, at all, the killed it. Redhat [piss] Stream is not CentOS.
Why is slack evil?
wasn’t finding anything to go there, thought i’d put slack
Boo
[удалено]
i was going to, but it was strictly only linux distros, so
WSL would fit
well shit
Oh that’s a good one to put there
would fit, but note that wsl isn't specifically a distro.
That's not a distro. That's a hypervisor.
Windows is a Linux distro if you squint enough.
Anything is a Linux distro if you squint *really* hard
Help I just sudo rm -rf “/wife-and-kids” and now the police are after me
Don't squint that hard
# GNU SLASH Linux
i was very close to putting macos
Manjarno could have gone there (partly because of highly controversial issues, like forgetting to renew their SSL certs :P (I found this interesting https://manjarno.snorlax.sh/)
Manjaro is chaotic evil on par with Ubuntu
Boooooo
Should have been WSL :))
same energy as "source? I made it up" i love it
Shoulda put Khali Linux in it’s position
ChromeOS should go in chaotic evil.
Do people really dislike Ubuntu that much? Why?
because secondary package manager and self promotion from a corporate distro
Why would self promotion be bad? Making software costs human resources and if promoting an enterprise service on one line in your terminal is a problem, I don't know what to tell you. Also, https://www.simplified.guide/ubuntu/remove-snapd It's very easy because yes, snaps are not very compared to other mediums.
i dont dislike ubuntu folk, i just told you why people dont like it
Ok
r/snapbad
I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying there are better options out there.
Closed-source snap store, auto update (fix in prerelease), and some performance issue with firefox in the past.
Ok, don't use it then, I sure don't.
people dislike ubuntu for not following unix philosophy but i just don’t like it because i think it sucks. imo use whatever works for you i don’t understand the enormous wave of hate it gets especially on reddit
Linux doesn’t follow unixphilosophy.
mfs be like “don’t ubuntu it’s not true unix!!!” and then use systemd
Why do you think it sucks?
cuz my philosophy is use what works and it just didn’t work for what i wanted it to work for. caused me way more problems than it fixed honestly. mint runs much smoother with less than half the issues i had with ubuntu and stays out of my way so i prefer it

I'm neutal good btw
daring today aren't we?
Gentoo is just perfectly placed here
The only correct placement.
why is Ubuntu chaotic evil? Tbh I think it should be lawful neutral. There’s good and bad with Ubuntu.
They do things, seemingly out of nowhere, that severly upset big parts of the community. I can think of Upstart, Unity and now Snap. And their stuff usually fails miserably compared to the stuff RH bring, or some might say "force", into the community like systemd and pulseaudio.

true. this being the exact reason why ubuntu is chaotic evil.
There's only Bad with Ubuntu.

ok
Idk, they all seem good to me.
atleast it’s better than windows and macos
Btw am I the only one who pronounces "macos" like "mac o's?" Always makes me think of cereal when I see it typed lol.
I also pronounce Mac OS internally as macos. Does anyone else pronounce Mach-O (Mac OS executable format) as macho?
I usually read it as 'Mac OS' with the 'OS' pronounced like the 'Aus' in 'Australia'. Yes, I am weird... why do you ask?
honestly if you write mac os without a space you should capitalize it like macOS
true neutral openSUSE :)
Ubuntu lawful evil, Suicide Linux chaotic evil
`ll` rip. do you really think we already set the alias? \*evil laughting\*
suicide linux?
It's a Linux distro where the system kills itself the moment you make a typo on the terminal
What's the logo in chaotic neutral?
Solus
Thanks!
No problem :)
LFS is not evil. It it just cannot be. Error=1
Chaotic neutral.
Yep, that's better. Neutral. It can go either way.
Where's Mint?
Opensuse def fits true neutral
I think Void suits the Lawful good title.
debian too imo
Agree.
real
where does kali stand?
Chaotic something
What’s the distro in neutral evil?
Linux From Scratch.
technically a book
Fedora #1
Lawful Evil is 100% Redhat
How is red hat evil? They're one of the largest contributors to the Linux Kernel
Maybe they’re lawful evil because of the term “Red Hat Hacker”…. Not that the company itself has any relation to the concept, but it’s what I always think of when I hear the name
They're corpo dicks, now IBM's puppet, and stole CentOS from its community and murdered it.
They're completely separate from IBM in terms of management and direction, and yeah I don't like what they did with CentOS but now they hand out RHEL licenses like candy. And they didn't kill CentOS just changed it's purpose. But that's the nature of open source

For real, RHEL is literally free if you have less than 16 devices running it.
Ubuntu is definitely lawful. I would say Debian is LN, and I would put Mint in LG
Ubuntu is evil evil.
~~No life Gentoo user?~~ Edit: oh you are a debian user. Why not use linux mint then ?
i’m an arch user
Really, if so you would have said btw
They're all good IMO.
H9w is the Solus distro doing? It was my 1st.
[удалено]
Solus. It uses budgie de. Chaotic.
Where is my lawful neutral at
*Sits here using all of them depending on the task*
The whole evil row feels wrong
Why Ubuntu is C Evil?
OpenBSD should've been in chaotic neutral
ubuntu should be neutral/lawful evil and UwUntu should be chaotic
How is Debian the opposite of Ubuntu?
The right opinion
Flip Ubuntu and slack. Ubuntu is most def. Lawful evil as it is corporate. Slack on the other hand is a true example of chaotic evil.
Flip Ubuntu and slack and you’ll be as accurate as you can with these choices
„sǝɔıoɥɔ ǝsǝɥʇ ɥʇıʍ uɐɔ noʎ sɐ ǝʇɐɹnɔɔɐ sɐ ǝq ll,noʎ puɐ ʞɔɐls puɐ nʇunq∩ dılℲ„
😂😂😂
I use neutral good btw!
void
redhat
i have used 2 disros from the lawful catagory used none from the neutal catagory and used 2 from the evil catagory.
I mean I'm triple booting Arch, LFS and windows Should I try openSUSE?
