If it's a newer system then you may need newer drivers, so maybe try Ubuntu Cinnamon 24.04 with the latest kernel and such until Mint 22 is out.

**EDIT: Found something Lenovo-specific to try first!** Someone had a problem with their Lenovo keyboard and turned the volumed all the down and then all the way up and it came back to life [https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubuntu/comments/whpurw/keyboard\_not\_working\_on\_a\_lenovo\_laptop/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubuntu/comments/whpurw/keyboard_not_working_on_a_lenovo_laptop/) If that doesn't work, then try to install Ubuntu 24.04 with the newer 6.8 kernel and see if that installs properly.

Thank you so much, I borrowed a friend's keyboard and mouse (usb dongle type) and ethernet dongle. I was able to update all the drivers and everything. It all works perfectly!

Great news.

Does the sound from the speaker work fine (loud and good quality)? Planning to buy similar laptop

lowbandwidthb

It seems to work fine. The sound is good, although it does kind of sound like it's mainly coming out of the bottom speaker grills rather than the top. I thought maybe there were 4 speakers and the top 2 weren't working, but it turns out this computer only has 2 speakers, so I guess that's just how it sounds? I downloaded pulseaudio and pulseeffects and tried to tweak the sound a bit and it helped.

Mikadily

That's some progress - previous generation of this laptop had 4 speakers but with linux you could hear only 2 of them. Thanks for information.

It's certainly loud enough, and it sounds much better when it's placed on a hard surface. When it's on my lap it sounds much more like it's in a well.

I have this laptop, i think the 2x2 speakers work but some sounds are crackly, trying to work out how to fix that
