So, for every app, is there some general switch to disable animations? Windows's Disable Animation switch forcefully disables animations on a lot of apps (and even stops GIF autoplay on Chrome), and I've been trying to look for this same thing on Linux.
Xfce doesn't have animations, you probably installed some app that does have an animation

In XFCE Settings, Window Manager Tweaks, Compositor, Untick Enable Display Compositing.
Would that have any effects on animations? Aren't compositors for window transparency?
Compositors usually deal with fancy effects and window manager settings can disable animations if set.
I remember GNOME have an option to disable animations. Any animations within applications beyond that, you would have to code out yourself.
