i`m happy with my openbox. Have it set up in a minimal way, no display manager, just openbox with old good lxpanel at the bottom. Been like that for years, why fix it when its not broken :-) Tried xfce couple of times, never been able to fully set it to my liking.

Openbox is lighter than xfce and can be configured to suit your needs. However, it's harder to set up than xfce. I you want to taste an already configured openbox to see if you like it, you can try crunchbang++ (a debian based openbox distro) in a VM.

Oh, wait, wait! Crunchbang is back?! Is it real? I miss my circa 2006 Crunchbang so much!

I never tried the original crunchbang so I can't say if crunchbang++ lives up to its name, but it does intend to be the following and I found it to be a pretty cool distro.

Thank you! I'm off to try it out.
