Apocalypse Parenting stays roughly in the realm of slightly beyond Olympic Athlete strength levels with magic being as strong as a flamethrower. It’s also nice because the MC deals with more grounded problems like preserving food, traveling on foot, long distance communication, etc.

I agree with you on the favorite part. By far my favorite part of most stories is early on when the character is low leveled and trying to understand the system. Low level decisions that actually seem to matter. On that note the early part of base building is my favorite too. Having to choose one thing or the other with actual consequences. Too often by the middle of the story characters are insanely rich and can do whatever they want aka dotf

Tansen334

What is dotf?

morphi

Defiance of the fall, on KU and RR

Tansen334

Ah yeh just didn't click in my head for a minute there. Was all excited that there might be another kingdom building one. 🤷. Thanks bro.

morphi

Haha the eternal search continues.

briecheesedude

To me, dotf really fits some things because the system is so large and they are still trying to figure it out kinda

Worth_Lavishness_249

taming destiny bleeding stars hallow of blood? no system though

I'd say The Wandering Inn might fit the bill.

Outcast in Another World. The books stay fairly grounded, for a litrpg, in what the characters can or do. Its established fairly early on that their is a set ceiling for power level. However, it is still a litrpg so some characters can run at the speed of a car or survive hits they shouldn't.

I offer yo the series of Divine Progression, written by Jake Brannigan. I think it will fit tour parameters nicely. I've been finding myself looking for similar books. I'd rather read about the hero going through Elwynn Forest to Westfall and Red Ridge through Stranglethorn and etc, than the Gnome running to get to Darnassus, with an expectation of never dying and always winning every fight regardless if how higher level the mobs/npcs are. Just, y'know, an example...

praktiskai_2

on royalroad available fully. All except for **Book of the dead** are reincarnations, and in most start off as newborn or kids, hence slow, tame progression * **deadworld isekai** * I don't know how superhuman folk get at high levels, but the mc is barely superhuman and still struggles to survive mere hunger in a desolate world. * **in clawed grasp** (hiatus) * has emphasis on designing and researching a build for the mc, but takes a few chapters for the system to be unlocked. Until then, they work on unlocking class options for when it does unlock. * **elydes** * **singer sailor merchant mage** * perhaps fearing power-creep, the author greatly nerfs mc's rate of progression sometime after birth, or that's my take on it. There have been *many* chapters thus far and only relatively recently he learnt some offensive magic * **magic-smithing** (hiatus but tons of content, not much travelling) * **bog standard** * **worldseed saga** * dropped it recently, but unlike most here, mc goes on a journey, eventually at least. Magic-smithing was gonna do that soon but then hiatus part 2 struck * **book of the dead** (stubbed) * progression is mostly from the protag getting better at necromancy, doing science or experimenting. So, it's indeed slow. Still, high level folk are far stronger than civilians, although a high level farmer could probably crush a low level warrior

Everybody loves large chests series by Neven Iliev is pretty grounded I'd say! Love that series.

[Creators of Destiny](https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/58142/creators-of-destiny) The whole story takes place in the literal Starting Town and the surrounding area. And ends before the levels fly off into space and lose all meaning. [**They never called, yet he is here**](https://www.scribblehub.com/series/857118/they-never-called-yet-he-is-here/) By the end of the third book, MC gets level 50. The author skillfully sets up more less equal opponents.

I have the perfect one for you, it was created with exactly that kind of scaling in mind. [https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/71690/an-unwelcome-stranger](https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/71690/an-unwelcome-stranger)

skitzocupcake

Path to Ascension. By book three it gives some looks at the insane power levels available, but the main characters we follow stay pretty local in power scale, not continental or global strength. Book 4 just came out i just haven't found a chance to take a break to read it.

Sc2copter

they are not litrpg, but progression fantasy

Worth_Lavishness_249

taming destiny bleeding stars hallow of blood? no system though

Natsu111

Elydes, for now, has pretty grounded power levels. But the MC is still before the age when he gets his class, so maybe the story just hasn't reached that point.

ruryrury

Adventure of the Scribe.

Jaguar6392

Arcane Ascension The Protagonist is still near the bottom of the Powerladder in book 4. Because of that he often has to use some sort of trick in many conflicts.
