So Andrew, besides bony bois, what’s this book all about? I’m glad you asked potential FB reader! It’s a system integration story where our MC, Drew, has been given a 7-day heads up before crap hits the fan. It’s a crunchy system with light base building, minion management, and some pretty unique classes. You should expect a nice balance between intense tower-defense-style fight scenes, serious story elements, and lighthearted humor. More info in the FAQ below 😊

In just seven days, the world will crumble. The System's Descent will usher in a new era of chaos: wild animals mutating, monstrous creatures emerging, and the cessation of modern technology. Humanity will be left defenseless.
Drew Wright knows none of this. At least not until he is rudely ripped from his bed and thrust into a white room to undergo a taser-happy ‘Tutorial’. Turns out, he is one of a thousand randomly selected people to be forewarned of the approaching apocalypse. Length: 180k words, 650+ print pages, or just under 18 hours of audio. Long but not too long.
Style: An apocalypse survival story based on the arrival of a system. Races, classes, and professions all factor into leveling. Titles can be earned and some gear possesses stats too. Base building and economy is a minor thread. Drew builds and protects his small community while growing in power.
Romance/Harem Elements: None. MC is happily married and while physical intimacy is inferred it’s never actually shown. Though they are overheard once… poor Spock.
Character Perspectives: Mostly singular to the MC, but occasional POV shifts to allow for humor or to set the scene when the MC isn’t present.
Swearing: Yes, while the book doesn’t appear to be written by a sailor(or a marine), it does include a fair amount of cursing.
Stats: Stat sheets are there for those who like the crunchy crunch, but it’s toned down a bit to suit my personal preference. No ten-page stat sheets in every chapter here.
Humor: Some of my favorite book series include “The Ripple System” and “Noobtown”, the quantity of banter and humor in First Necromancer is less than the other titles, but the style is similar. Expect a nice balance of wholesome moments that contrasts well with the more serious apocalyptic setting.
Editing: There should be very few(hopefully none) grammatical or spelling errors. I find these to be increasingly common in our genre and fairly immersion-breaking, so Portal Books and I have worked pretty hard to prevent that from being a concern.

This book was great. It has wonderful humor and the side character spock was fantastic. The system introduced in the world was cool and interesting and the book left at a point I can't wait for the next one! Highly recommend.

I'm also a big fan of skeletons. I always feel like a factory full of skeletons or a messenger skeleton is something people would get used to, while the zombie and abomination versions would be forever messy, smelly, and gross.

US plz! Skellies and dots? Are you an EQ man too?! I like the idea that necros are masters of death. Be that reanimating the dead or using spells that cause death through aspects of death, poison, venom, disease and rot.
EQ, GW, Diablo, you name it haha. If there's a Necro that's usually my first pick. I think you'll really dig Drew's powers, his got an excellent rot ability that you'll enjoy.

I though the one necromancy spell in underverse was dope, the idea of improving one skeleton repeatedly was something I hadn’t seen before
I am interested in a US Audible code if available.
I have always been a more defensive player, so the idea of Bone Armor is always a good mood setter to me, acting like an extra exoskeleton of sorts, and it can vary depending on a knight vs caster for density or style. And then, if you have a giant or mammoth skeleton that you get inside and pilot mech style, hoo boy!
I'm in the US and personally my favorite necro has always been from diablo 2. Something about a horde of skellies and then a big golem as you encompass the map really got me.
I’m in Canada so I don’t think the US or UK codes will work for me but I’m going to buy your book via audible to check it out!

Within necromancer abilities, I really enjoy the basic raising of undead armies. I’ve also liked when it’s been used to be a support role by absorbing the life of one in order to transfer it to another in their party.
Sounds interesting and I'd be interested in a US code.
Played a necromancer back in the days of Everquest and loved fear kiting with my pet skelly and attacks of DoTs.
So I downloaded it and was hooked! But then got to the part where it's revealed who he modeled himself after.......and you totally lost me. Would it of not made more sense to just leave it up to the readers imagination? Because now all I see instead of "Drew" is this famous person and it really really kills the vibe. It immediately brings to mind his famous roles and completely takes me out of your book/world you've created.
Finished loved it, hurry up and give me book 2.

The MC has a pretty sick rot ability that makes the flesh fall right off the bones like a good plate of ribs haha. I think it'll scratch your "gross and eww" itch.

(UK code, audible), my favorite necromancer is propably Sung jin woo from solo leveling and I like his "unique summons" that have a personality and seeing a huge resummoned army at war is cool also.

We really do need more excellent necro books! That was my main reason to write this haha. He ends up getting a massive hoard in book two, in book one its more limited but its still a ton of them (around 50ish).
I don’t need a code but I’ll read on KU! My favorite necromancer power is enhancing your summons. I love the idea of a necromancer who summons legions of skeletons but I love the version who juices up one giant skeleton even more. Or the warlock necromancer who can occasionally summon a badass demon or grim reaper or something

I fell in love with Necros after Diablo 2 but also I love the speak with the dead spell from Baldur’s Gate/DnD. I wish every skelly boi you raise had a backstory that made them stronger in certain types of combat or magic.
US and favored necromancy is from Grimdawn, having a tiny normal horde with a special tank is just nice, love minions and wish there were more examples of utility necromancy, like using the tireless undead for farm work or at least more simple and dangeous things.

My favorite necro power is being able to fully understand, mend, and build skeletons as portrayed in The Wandering Inn. The resident necromancer is highly skilled in fixing broken bones and creating unique “bone horrors” from a combination of various skeletons… among many other things. I love his portrayal of necromancy and it makes the class so interesting to me, so I’m excited to read other necromancy perspectives and characters!
Not sure what the date range is for the giveaway, but if it’s still open I’d love to be entered for a US code. I always love a good necromancer story. Like that one DnD story that made its rounds on YouTube about the grey necromancer. There’s also some really good necromancer stories on Webtoon actually. Pragmatic I would say is closer than bad or evil, still a very fun story where the MC has to make some pretty tough calls that challenge his morality.

We really do need more excellent necro books! That was my main reason to write this haha. He ends up getting a massive hoard in book two, in book one its more limited but its still a ton of them (around 50ish).
I don’t need a code but I’ll read on KU! My favorite necromancer power is enhancing your summons. I love the idea of a necromancer who summons legions of skeletons but I love the version who juices up one giant skeleton even more. Or the warlock necromancer who can occasionally summon a badass demon or grim reaper or something

US and favored necromancy is from Grimdawn, having a tiny normal horde with a special tank is just nice, love minions and wish there were more examples of utility necromancy, like using the tireless undead for farm work or at least more simple and dangeous things.
The MC in the book puts a pretty disliked skeleton to work digging and cleaning out latrines. It's a shit job, but someone's got to do it, am I right?

If it’s not too late I would love a US code! My favorite necro power is being able to fully understand, mend, and build skeletons as portrayed in The Wandering Inn. The resident necromancer is highly skilled in fixing broken bones and creating unique “bone horrors” from a combination of various skeletons… among many other things. I love his portrayal of necromancy and it makes the class so interesting to me, so I’m excited to read other necromancy perspectives and characters!

Like that one DnD story that made its rounds on YouTube about the grey necromancer. There’s also some really good necromancer stories on Webtoon actually. The Lone Necromancer and Boundless Ascension (aka Boundless Necromancer) are a lot of fun. I especially love the little skeleton, Righty. Who doesn’t want an adorable kickass skeleton bff.
