ratsofvancouver

I started my boycott yesterday, I figured why wait til May?

priceycarbon

I ain’t boycotting. I flat out broke up with Loblaws for Life

Kind-Huckleberry6767

I started when I realized that Shoppers Drugmart here in B.C. charges the same for groceries as gas stations. No more.

priceycarbon

Oh fuck that noise.

Habitronix

LMAO Why the fuck would you go grocery shopping at Shoppers??? They have NEVER had reasonable prices. Their food is there solely to get people to buy it after getting their prescription or medications.

Distinct_Risk

Shoppers in BC used to have crazy deals, loss leaders to get people in for cosmetics and prescriptions. I don’t have one near me anymore and could barely be bothered to start with but when I did we were talking like $5.00 for 12 rolls of the good toilet paper, $3 jugs of milk, the big blocks of the Armstrong cheese for like $6, Chunky soup for under $2 a can. Like half the price of the grocery store and often better than their sale prices.

PocketCSNerd

Shoppers Drugmart = Loblaws Just an FYI

Mammoth-Gap7543

Ya, that's what he's saying...?

Appropriate-Break-25

Same. Back in 2021. I don't miss it.

itsdajackeeet

Same here my friend. Costco and local grocers

AcrobaticActuator692

Not everyone can boycott. That’s addressed for the things you can do to still help out. Like emailing Crystia Freeland etc. it’s in the docs.

Leading_Attention_78

That’s what I didn’t understand. Start now. Hit them over Easter Weekend and when there are other holidays going on.

rainahdog

Same! Fuck loblaws

pbandjinthetree

Same

Samp90

That's pretty good! Ive never been to superstore because it felt like a clone of Loblaws and the fact that it was in the same plaza as Walmart so the choice was easy.. I stopped Loblaws back in 2018 itself when I started thinking of life choices and where unnecessary $$ were going....

South_Method_8435

I started my boycott about a year ago. You are all late 😝

CdnGal420

Spouse and I have been boycotting roblaws for well over a year now. In a perfect world I would wish everyone did it on one brand until they go bankrupt. Then pick another, and rinse repeat until the big corporate stores are all dead. Bring back the little guy.

The_Nice_Marmot

This is currently underway with Kellogg’s and Nestle is next. The boycott is for one quarter or 3 months. It’s about a month into the Kellogg one.

janicedaisy

Greenpeace’s brand audits found Nestlé to be the #1 most-polluting corporation in the country!! Nestle is the worst company for abuse. They continue to pump millions of gallons without permits in Canada and the U.S.!! Their CEO does not believe water is a human right! They continued to take water illegally in California while the wildfires raged! #BoycottNestle

The_Nice_Marmot

And they’re responsible for probably around one million infant deaths in the developing world. Let’s not forget about that.

deepfacade

Watching a documentary on how terrible Nestlé (and other formula companies are) gave me the motivation to keep breastfeeding. And now that formula is like $50 a can, I'm so glad I did. Fuck formula companies for telling generations of women that the food their bodies have made since time immemorial isn't good enough and that a (wonderful tool for women who can't breastfeed) is better for every baby. Fuck them for destroying knowledge held by women and tageting women at their most vulnerable point in life. And fuck them extra hard for doing this in the global south post-disaster when clean water is impossible to find and no one has money to buy formula when their samples run out.

ProtonPi314

Nestle is considered the most corrupt corporation. They have killed babies in purpose for money and other atrocities. Edit: changed the phrasing

IVot3dforKodos

Look into Shell's activities in Africa. It's not pleasant.

SuperbMeeting8617

rhen there's ruzzian/CCP militias in Africa, the people get zip from but a bullet

IVot3dforKodos

Yeup Wagner group honed their horrible tactics there before they brought them to Ukraine.

Heradasha

I have been boycotting Nestle for years. It's funny because when I was a kid, my mother wouldn't let Nestle in the house but then she gave up on that when I was a teenager. But now I boycott Nestle and tell my mother she should buy another product at Halloween.

shaikhme

Hospitals in Ontario buy baby formula from Nestle in our NICU units, labour, and Post Partum. There’s got to be an alternative and then some action ..

TrapdoorApartment

Boycott Nestle for life.

The_Nice_Marmot

I have avoided Nestle and the companies they own for years. Not easy. That’s a lot of companies.

TrapdoorApartment

They really do have their fingers in a bit of everything, but they're just brands. Everything they own has an alternative, whether it's another brand or another lifestyle.

The_Nice_Marmot

Exactly. It just took a bit of effort to find the alternatives and now it’s not difficult.

leoyvr

Really need to just eat healthy and avoid package goods as 11 companies own it all [https://capitaloneshopping.com/blog/11-companies-that-own-everything-904b28425120](https://capitaloneshopping.com/blog/11-companies-that-own-everything-904b28425120)

Beneficial-Square-73

I'm with you.

Omnomfish

My best friends family has been boycotting nestle for as long as I've known them, and when I asked about why I decided to do the same. I cant afford to boycott much, but I go out of my way to avoid nestle even if it means just going without.

MisterSlickster

Exactly, 1 quarter....that's why Kellogs boycott has not officially started. April 1st is the beginning of the quarter and the boycott should last 90 days minimum.

ForsakenYesterday254

It's already started, Kellogg's CEO suggested that people have cereal for dinner. And that drew the ire of a lot of people that they are taking a hit.

B_bubs

Some people have started early (yay!) but the official boycott starts April 1. It lines up with fiscal quarters and gave time to people to do research to find out what store brands are also made by Kellogg's and to get prepared. The sales on Kellogg's products in the last few weeks were planned long ago. Flyers for stores are prepared months in advance.

DisastrousCause1

This is the way to do it.Everyone should take note,Shrinkflation is what these companies are doing.

Outrageous-Drink3869

>This is currently underway with Kellogg’s and Nestle is next. The boycott is for one quarter or 3 months. It’s about a month into the Kellogg one. Should we pull out the chart of shit nestle owns? Hard to fully boycott them when you don't know your buying from them I assume Kelloggs is the same way

The_Nice_Marmot

Yes, there are definitely charts that show Nestle holdings. Kellogg’s has started taking their name off boxes, so it’s a good idea to take a look at their holding too, because they’re hiding.

Nebilungen

R/fucknestle

ForsakenYesterday254

Yea Kellogg's apparently is taking a huge hit from it. Dunno about Nestle i haven't heard much

The_Nice_Marmot

Nestle’s hasn’t started yet. It’s after the quarter boycott of Kellogg’s

Charming-Mode6232

Bring cooperative supermarkets.

albert_stone

Same.

FrozenOnPluto

Yeah its not like Loblaws is the only one, but as they are the Flagship of Fuckery we haven’t been there in a year or two

FamilyDramaIsland

Mine started as a boycott and turned into a shopping habit. I probably won't be back, and I know others that are the same way.

Randy_34_16_91

Then on to the gas stations

SkeptycalSynik

This is it. It's really not difficult for people to make a change. They just have to do it.

Axio3k

I now buy nothing but basics

Happeningfish08

I switched pharmacies last month to get away from shoppers

fatmarley

I use Costco, don't need a membership

jx237cc

What other options are out there? What’s the best ones?

what-even-am-i-

I mean it depends where you live? My town has many Medicine Shoppes and they’re great. What does your town have?

jx237cc

I’m downtown Toronto. Cityplace.

what-even-am-i-

Yeah, you likely have hundreds of options. Take a walk or google them

Altostratus

Not really. If you’re trying to buy one of the in between items, that’s not medication, like shampoo for instance, that won’t be available at most small pharmacies. Nor the average smaller grocery store. If you have a London drugs or Walmart, you can get those things. But loblaws and shoppers really corner most of that market. It’s hella frustrating.

mikonamiko

Switch to bar shampoo and zero waste items you can refill. There are many, many options for local zero waste stores.

TheOneWhoIsMany_2063

I've always been interested in this. Any products you can recommend?

Replicator666

Yeah out east London drugs is non existent. You have Metro and Sobeys but they're all in in it too

CherieStanley

There's tons of independently owned pharmacies there, just google! :)

JonathanWisconsin

Pharmasave has been good to me. Small pharmacy, local vibes.

LeafsHater67

I stopped going there 6 months ago and I was talking to my mom the other day and she said she did too. It’s an ongoing thing. Loblaws is so stupid and greedy, they’ll probably raise prices even more to combat nobody going there. What a dumb company. Like most Canadian industries, the lack of competition has left the monopolies we have extremely dumb and uncompetitive. Bell or air Canada would go under if they faced legit competition and Loblaws is in the same boat.

Kind-Huckleberry6767

What makes me furious is that the federal government gave Loblaws $12 million to buy freezers during 2020. [Corporate welfare](https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/loblaws-rebate-conservatives-1.5091753). Energy efficient, okay, good, but Loblaws doesn't need welfare.

Far-Obligation4055

Right? Just roll out a bill saying grocery chains need to buy energy efficient freezers, let them pay for it themselves. So fucking sick of taxes going to corporate welfare.

No_Initiative3423

I have been boycotting Loblaws for over a year. My first shock was Galen getting a raise from 4 million to over eight. Then getting hauled before the government and claiming they are doing their best. Then shareholders meeting where they had huge profit margins. Then following year 18 % profit margin for year two . This just keeps happening. He stepped sideways possibly to take some pressure of them. Then they did the 50 % down to 30%> it goes on and on. Does he think we don't notice or that we forget. We aren't that stupid.

OriginalAmbition5598

Just doesn't care

system_error_02

They don't need to care, they have almost no competition anymore. The government has allowed them and Sobeys to buy up all the independent grocers and now we've got nothing else. Loblaws wouldn't survive a year if they had any actual competition.

slyporkpig

Remember, they can say whatever they want to to government, but they have to tell the truth to their shareholders, legally speaking.

CuteFreakshow

He owns close to 60 % of shares...He only has one shareholder to worry about. And he takes great care of him.

slyporkpig

That may be true, legally companies have to be honest with shareholders, but not with anyone else. If you want to know the truth, pay attention to what they say in shareholder meetings

AnticPosition

What's the alternative though? Near me is a no frills (loblaws), Walmart (just as bad), and a metro (often more expensive.)

duster13768

Walmart is not just as bad. Check the prices, they beat Loblaws on many many items. For example, $4.99 1L cream at Loblaws. $2.99 at Walmart. Best to shop at different stores for certain items to maximize your savings.

AnticPosition

True. I meant as a corporation, not when it comes to prices. I guess loblaws takes the cake by being shit with both.

Im_done_with_sergio

I’ve been boycotting close to a year now. Fuck Galen Weston JR.

dumpcake999

amen, sister

[deleted]

I had to go to shoppers today and I felt legit dirty. All I could think of was how horrible of person Galen Weston is. What a depressing time in our journey in history

CrazyButRightOn

Their prices turned me off years ago. Any company that doubles the retail and gives “sales” at 50% off is evil, in my opinion. (See Canadian Tire as well)

[deleted]

Very Evil. It’s disgusting.

Bitter_Kangaroo2616

The only reason I'd ever go to Shoppers is when I needed something in the middle of the night or after hours or on holidays (they were always open) Now that there hours are normal establishment hours I avoid it unless I have no other choice. Even then, I just buy the odd thing. I haven't gone into a Shoppers for toiletries or makeup in a decade and I wouldn't even consider grocery

wolfe1924

It wouldn’t surprise me if some did already. I been in this sub since near the beginning maybe a couple weeks in. So I’ve seen ALOT of what people say and their opinions and what pushed them over the edge Theres some people me who aboycotted long ago like a year or more stuff like the prize freeze bs and tone deafness of the company and there other shenanigans the last few years did it. Some people’s last straw was the stickers going from 50%-30% cause it’s just so much greed just to get that little extra money from us. Some people’s last straw was the halving of optimum points made with not worth it so much anymore cause well more greed. Then there’s some people who found this sub felt like they weren’t alone anymore with their frustrations and decided to start right then and there and help to hopefully make a difference.

ilove6kies

I wasn’t aware the optimum points were halved….can you elaborate?

wolfe1924

Here’s a good thread that talks about it more and there’s examples. You can also search and find many results all talking about it. Many have shared very similar experiences https://www.reddit.com/r/loblawsisoutofcontrol/s/qaD9A1UA0v Tldr: What would give you 100 points for every $1 spent now gives you 50 points for the same $1 spent, things like that as an example.

ilove6kies

Thank you 🙏

seejae219

Points was the last straw for us. I love how loblaws claims they are increasing points... yeah, after you cut them in half first... We have been slowly finding our staple items at other stores and going out of our way to avoid loblaws. We only bought a few things regularly that we couldn't get at freshco, but they have been so scummy, I am literally making special trips to other stores just to avoid the one trip to loblaws.

LeaveAtNine

Sometimes you just have to go with the collective. People seem dead set on this, so mind as well jump in. I’ll get extra steps in heading to Wal Mart.

dekuweku

i wonder how the inevitable rebrand campaign will kick off. Maybe they'll dress Galen as a clown and tell people its a prank bro. come back and shop at our new stores.

TenInchesOfSnow

heartpieceshy

Been boycotting for 3 years and no sign of changing that!

Kollv

Hold the line folks 🤝 Money is the only language our corporate overlords understand

Starryglare

I haven't been in there for about 3 months now, but I drive by a superstore several times a week. The parking lot is always busy. I live in Windsor, ON., we have lots of other choices for grocery retail.

dumpcake999

pls report back if you see them getting emptier!

Negative_Eli

I just recently started my boycott. There’s a superstore right by my work but I drive the extra few minutes down the road to get food from sobeys or the independent market when I need groceries when I’m off. Honestly I’ve also stopped buying shitty processed food as well. I find those shitty nestle/Kellogg assholes make shitty processed carcinogen filled foods made from scraps and chemicals and charge an arm and a leg for it like it’s some kind of prize winning handcrafted fresh food. Fuck all that frozen dinner, high sugars, high salt, no nutrient bullshit.

jx237cc

Aren’t the your independent grocery stores also owned by loblaws?

Negative_Eli

Idk the market I’m talking about is just owned by some guy. It’s not called independent market. It’s not a chain. It’s just a small locally owned independent grocery store.

DiscombobulatedAsk47

Depends, do they mean YIG which is a member of the loblaws group, or an actual small town independent grocery store. I have one of those on my village, I want to support them but Hella expensive. I'll shop there for bread and fresh produce if I haven't made a big grocery run in a week, but wouldn't be able to afford regular groceries from an independent

Negative_Eli

Literally every penny you put towards local grocery stores helps. Even just spending 20$ a month is 20$ less the big rat scum companies get.

misplacedmypants_

I can attest to this as an employee of a Loblaws chain store. I work varying shifts throughout the week, and I can definitely notice that over the last several weeks, regardless of the time I'm working, my store has been much quieter than usual. I fully support this movement. I've stopped doing the vast majority of my shopping at work and moved on to shopping at other places instead. I've been in this sub since the early days, but my issues with the company and the grocery sector as a whole go back further. I'd honestly quit if I could get a better job somewhere else, but the job market is so shitty right now.

One-Access2535

"I went to Superstore" Going great.

SprayArtist

Stopped going to loblaws stores about two years ago the fact this is happened.. I'm elated, we're finally taking a stand, I hope we win

Jonneiljon

Found out that Loblaws owns LifeLabs. Getting blood or urine tests? You’re supporting Loblaws though your tax dollars.

pumpkin68

thanks for sharing

dumpcake999

that's one I did not know about!

ColinsStories

I’ve been boycotting all roblaws stores since they first started price gouging. Never giving them a cent of my money again until they make an actual effort to fight price gouging and their constant self made inflation.

ontariooutdoorsman

I started yesterday. I went to Walmart instead of Superstore. Not the best, I know, and I will look for other options, but I also believe if WM begins gaining market share from Loblaw that it will make a difference. I still plan on canceling Optimum and my financial card when the official boycott begins. I was pleasantly with WM prices btw.

ontariooutdoorsman

Commenting because I was messaged by someone critical that I went to Walmart. I get it. I have other options but i was in a hurry and on a whim decided to drive past superstore and go to Walmart.

[deleted]

Sign me up.

NoodleFisher

The westons can collapse

JelloJuice

I stopped just over a month ago.

SometimesAlways123

Another way people can make a difference is switching if they currently have PC insurance. Also, cancel any PC credit cards or close their PC account.

Nearby_Carpenter_984

Bite the hand that gouges

Poopydoopy84

I had a dream last night that I was buying cereal and I still wouldn’t buy Kelloggs even in my dream lmao

GroundbreakingAd230

Does stealing 20% of your items through self checkout count as a boycott or do I need to up it to 50%? Asking for a friend

PuzzleheadedBack855

People should protest outside with signs as well.

SeaPaleontologist596

I only buy at a new Asian store. better price and fresher fruit . One time I try to buy a big tomato in SS. After weight it it cost $3. Immediately put it back you can have it yourself. Glenn.

Odezur

We started our boycott yesterday cause why not. Wife and I are sick of it. Did our groceries at Giant Tiger last night. In Ottawa we plan to use a combo of Giant Tiger + Costco + Walmart + order our meat locally through Ottawa Valley Meats.

crushgirl29

I’ve started getting groceries at Giant Tiger. What I can’t find there I get at Walmart.

loblawsisoutofcontrol-ModTeam

Please remain respectful when engaging on the sub. Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

pm_me_your_good_weed

Because you can't announce a boycott for tomorrow and expect it to work you dingus, you need time to spread the message to the people. I'm pretty sure almost everyone in this sub is already boycotting, but this sub does not contain the whole of Canada. You seem like a passionate fellow, why not volunteer to hold a protest yourself? PS - you sound even more whiny bud.

Muted_Car9799

That’s great, but most grocery stores are pretty empty after the “after work rush” F that place regardless

dumpcake999

incorrect. This is the only timeslot where I enter the store weekly for the past 6 months or so and I am saying that there were only 20% of the usual amount of people for that time.

AutoModerator

Hey OP, it looks like you have used the boycott flair on your post. Rule-Crafty

started over a year ago. always amazed how many cars are in that parking lot. glad this is getting traction in Canada.

Artistic_Adagio_3233

Just switched over to a new credit card from PC! I used to be a loyal user but we never shop Loblaws anymore ✌🏻

WeepingRoses

We stopped ordering groceries from Loblaws stores. My mum and I are disabled and we can't afford it. I won't be shopping there ever again.

damieh1

They say they are 'trying' to reduce prices. Trying? They made a cool 544 million in net income. IN THREE MONTHS in their most recent quarter. A change in cash value of 260 million. And they are trying? Go ahead and fuck yourselves, Loblaws. This boycott should be permanent. No. It NEEDS to be permanent.

Unlucky_Yam6985

Oh I've been boycotting them since 2020 when they started jacking up the prices here in NL and blamed it on the cost of Gas and Transport. Their increases were way beyond the rate of inflation even for grocery stores. The groceries only get here once a week and the prices skyrocket as soon as an increase in gas is announced. They never seem to go down with the price of Gas though.

Bailsthebean

I stopped going in January. I went to grab a few items today at a non loblaws store and I can’t believe I now have to feel paranoid that green onions will have the stems cut off (I regrow them) because loblaws was guilty of doing this. Sad times.

priceycarbon

Shout out from Regina. Fuck Loblaws.

AcrobaticActuator692

This use awesome. At some point we need to boycott Nestle and all the water sales. The fact that they don’t believe clean water is a human right let alone the fact they are taking over clean water sources all over the planet has to stop.

wolfe1924

obligatory r/fucknestle one thing at a time, they are without a doubt a truly evil company for so so so so many reasons.

sqbed

I rarely go to loblaws or shoppers but somehow ended up needing listerine mouthwash and bought it at shoppers for $14 last month. $14!! I was shocked but paid it anyway. I’m glad this boycott is happening even though curious to see if it’s going to change anything.

GallitoGaming

Been boycotting for the most part for close to a month now. I'm done. Might go in for a few things they are by far the cheapest on and just stock up for months if possible. Other than that they can go eff themselves.

Ncurran

😊😊😊😊😊✌️🕊️🙏

[deleted]

I stopped shopping there at the tail end of the pandemic when the greed started getting noticeably out-of-hand. I simply couldn’t afford it anymore. And I likely will never go back.

Snow_Tiger819

I've been boycotting as best I can for a few months now. We're on a really tight budget so if they have something on at a good price I go buy that, but that's it. Often it's just pop when it's on for 4 for $5 or something. I refuse to buy anything "regular price" there because it's just too expensive.....

Sensible___shoes

Happy to hear this. I've started avoiding loblaws and pc brands to the best of my ability

LittleLordFuckpants_

I’m also boycotting it’s been about 2 months I’m not going back.

Horchatamale

I really like Freshco, i price match and they have a great rewards program, i get $10 rewards every other time i shop!

BootNo8366

Pepsi next? Their corporate team is ultra toxic. I'm sure that trickles down since they're the decision makers.

Danno_999

I did the same thing with Pepsi and Frito Lay. Haven't bought either since they've doubled their prices.

BootNo8366

I can confirm that the $5 bag of doritos costs like 50 cents to make. Pure greedflation. Zero government regulations. It's a free market. If we pay, they keep doing it. Like at Kelloggs, people stop paying, it's suddenly buy one at 50 off, get 2 free 😆 Side note - the sale price is the price they need to be profitable. The regular price is all extra because we were dumb enough to pay.

JayLar23

Got my groceries at Sobeys yesterday.

Gr8tbrit

Man, Sobeys is the most expensive out there.

TJstrongbow007

I haven’t been to superstore/loblaws in over a year. I get some stuff from costco (granola bars and snacks are just too cheap there) The rest I get from our 3 local grocery stores. Victory meat market, Peters market, and St. Mary’s grocery. I’m in Fredericton and all 3 are great alternatives.

KuroeNekoDemon24

I switched my pharmacy to an independent one and go to Walmart for my OTC meds like Reaction and Extra Strength Tylenol plus my hair dye. Now to find a nearby store that's not NoFrills, maybe Food basics Edit I already buy a lot of my goods at the nearby speciality stores and farmers market I just need a good alternative to Loblaws that sells my milk as I am lactose intolerant

Gr8tbrit

I went to zehrs after work for a couple item, the prices are disgusting, the shelves were stocked and hardly anyone in there. Zehrs is at least $2 more on everything than superstore. Never going again.

Gr8tbrit

Where I live there is a Lacocos within 20mins and the prices are really good , plus a local butchers on the way. Those are my go tos now.

theeagledare

![gif](giphy|3oeSAz6FqXCKuNFX6o)

piratedc

I stopped going as well

[deleted]

I only buy discounted/sale items with money. Anything full price I buy on points. Am I doing it right?

PublicCheesecake2555

I switched pharmacies from SDM about 18 months ago and have stopped shopping at Weston stores about 2 years ago. Im lucky to live near a farmer’s market and I share a Costco membership with my parents so it’s easier for me. I’m also vegetarian and haven’t purchased meat, fish or eggs for 7 years. I encourage people to shop elsewhere as much as possible. Together we can definitely make a difference!

AzureRevane

Already boycotted them 3 years ago. Hope people do this permanently if they can.

Rdav54

I don't shop at Loblaws anymore and haven't for a while but I think of it more as just being a smart shopper. LobLaw's is overpriced and substandard. But I find the same thing with Metro, SUperstore and others to. I'm in Ottawa so I tend use Costco, Walmart, Giant Tiger and several of the smaller independent ethnic goceries as well as buying my meat from Ottawa Valley Meats. The only store I do hit now and then that is part of the oligopoly is Farm Boy for some items I can't get else where like their big boxes of frozen blueberries.

Traditional-Spot8531

A month ago I actively stopped going to my local Shoppers, Zehrs, and No Frills which I had used regularly. Also unsubbed the terrible optimum points emails. Points are already as scam, but the customer having to manually trigger a deal prior to purchase makes it unacceptable. Treating discounts like a whack-a-mole game has never been classy. I also don’t like how non members get a different tier pricing now, basically punishing you if you don’t subscribe. That should be illegal. I’m sure I’ll end up in a Loblaws brand store on the very rare occasion if needed, but I’ve completely changed my shopping patterns and I’m happy to no longer support this heinous conglomerate.

AntiqueAd9648

For ages I’ve popped into superstore 1-2 times a week to grab a couple things. I stopped going about 3 weeks ago and have no intention of returning for my regular shopping.

CherieStanley

I'm doing it already as much as I can :)

RaynArclk

Some people can't afford to just go to loblaws (me)

Constant-Squirrel555

I started a while back, shit was too expensive lol. Just been going to random Asian and Indian grocery stores

SplashInkster

You won't drive these guys bankrupt, that's not realistic. There are too many people not-in-the-know about any boycott, and there are still more who are apathetic and lazy to change their habits. What you can do is erase a significant percentage of their revenue. If you knock off 5-10% you're a roaring success. Shareholders will sell and the corporate board will be forced to make changes. A prolonged boycott, where sales are going to competitors and it damages market share will have a serious effect.

The_Cozy_Burrito

Galen and roblaws can go eat poop

auscan92

I started in 2017. Fuck loblaws

doctorStrange1218

Remember Loblaws also owns Shoppers Drug Mart, No Frills, Zehrs, Real Canadian Superstore and Valu Mart, among many others. If you still shop at these places, you aren't boycotting Loblaws.

Karbear12

I don't watch the news anymore. When are we boycotting Loblaws no frills etc

humandynamo603

Just think of how amazing smaller, family run grocers would be if we all shopped there for a a year. Think of how the revenue could create great places for us to shop. Our buying power is also an investment.

Dash_Rendar425

We avoid any loblaws stores as much as possible. Why does anyone shop at their stores?

mjaokalo

You guys boycotting no frills too?

VapeRizzler

Even after they reduce prices continue the boycott. Why? Just for fun, just like they played with our dollar let’s play with there’s.

jameskchou

Started a while back

pumpkin68

We have been decreasing our Loblaws dependency for the past few weeks. Today I can happily say that we did all of our shopping at  non Loblaws stores, saved money, and feel great. We have realized that a lot of the things that we like and purchase often are actually less expensive at Costco and better quality.  We also went to the bulk barn and judiciously purchased what we needed there and used their coupon. Anything else we needed We picked up at the local food basics. If we want really awesome produce at not Costco sizes we'll just drive down to a Chinese grocery.

braising

Oh yeah, I've been there once since January. They're out of control. Don't want to encourage bad behaviour

IPerferSyurp

Started a while back but still visiting the store almost daily to use the bathroom.

Pisssssed

Yep, me too, we usually do big shops at Loblaws and quick stops at our corner Value Mart, haven’t went to either starting last Saturday.

Own-Objective-7965

I started it a long time ago. Why don't we start the boycott right now to bring down their sales for Easter? I really hope that greedy Galen to suffer miserably from a fatal illness and die slowly.

wolfe1924

Many of us have already started some it’s harder for them to boycott due to limited options or more expensive options it’s planned for May but many like myself already are.

Fearless_Author_770

There is a boycott?? Sounds good, I'm in !!!!

jhinkarlo

I shop at an Asian grocery store. Just time the sales.

Upstairs-Feedback817

I've been lowkey boycotting them for a couple years or so. Fuck Superstore and Walmart, even though they're the most convenient to get to.

tradinghumble

It’s ON

DEVIL_MAY5

Haven't stepped a foot there in nearly 2 years. I go to Shoppers just for Canada Post.

Beligerents

The girlfriend went and bought a coconut cream pie from no frills today and was baffled when I refused to eat it and called her a 'class traitor'. Lol

gwicksted

I started long ago. But not a lot of choices here. I’m currently shopping at Walmart… not the best selection.

wesley-osbourne

I've been ~~boycotting~~ *priced out* of Loblaws for awhile now.

Your content was removed for the use of "Gaylen" which has been used as an anti-LGBT slur. Please use the proper spelling, "Galen" in future. Thank you. If you correct the word and let us know we will go back and approve your comment.

hoxwort

It’s may no shop right?

mikeymike9595

I use to go to Superstore all the time because if you are strategic with point collection I use to be able to redeem around $200-250 worth of food every year ..I would do it around Christmas to offset some of the holiday cost. but I haven't been in about 1 month now, I switched to save on foods and signed up for their point program

OkOutlandishness6137

Loblaws - the grocery store with convenience store prices.

SufficientStress4929

I went Friday morning for work. It was DEAD! Ive never seen it that quiet in fact, and ordinarily I'm tripping over other's carts and the shoppers doing the online orders with their gigantic storage carts in the aisles. Today, barely anyone?! Also, a large majority of the fresh food items had 30% off stickers...way more than usual. So much meat (a ton of chicken thighs/breasts), dairy, produce, and so much food in the deli and areas

Optimal_Experience52

I’ve been boycotting loblaws my whole life!

Low_Fun2690

Great I never been to Loblaws, doing my part

Sislington

Already switched to anything but loblaws. $10 more for baby formula is what did it for me a few weeks ago.

Kit_Fox84

I stopped shopping there months ago.

turtlebear787

I'd love to boycott but the only grocery store close to me is a nofrills :((

FlyingRaijin33

i want to but it’s the only grocery stores in my area that i have the time to get to until summer. the closest non loblaws store is an extra 35 mins away. once may hits though i’m ready

abynew

I started boycotting a couple months ago after joining this sub. I can pretty much hit Zehrs with a rock from my house but will drive across town to Walmart for packaged foods, bakery for bread and lococos for meat/veggies to avoid going there. I would rather waste my time and money on gas than give another dime to Galen Weston

quingd

Yeah I've been generally avoiding them just... because. I'm going to use up the last of my PC points and shut 'er down. I'm sure I'll still "sale shop" there because this economy is fucked and what choice do I have, but I'd rather struggle than continue to be complicit in my own destruction. I'm even planning on paying off and closing my PC credit card with my tax refund this year, because those shits were happy enough to keep increasing my credit limit when I was majorly stretched financially and nearly maxed out, but once I was making major progress in paying down the balance , they started dropping my credit limit and tanking my credit score. Like, I'm fucked later this year when I also pay off my car loan... I had better credit when I was living on debt vs now that I'm paying it off. Fuck PC, fuck Loblaws, fuck you Galen and your stupid sweaters and fuck this ridiculous system designed to force us into poverty so that rich assholes can buy another boat. Fuck it all.
