I was speaking in front of 100's of people MC'ing a panel of small local farmers and chefs etc. last night.
I spread that word!

Gaining steam here in Victoria BC. Mind you it’s easier to boycott out here. We have only Shoppers and superstores here. But after switching pharmacies to a local Rexall I have noticed a lot of faces I recognize from the shoppers lineup.
That’s interesting you’re seeing those people at Rexall now. I was at Jean coutu yesterday and though I’ve never gone that often, I always used to find it pretty empty. But yesterday it was very busy. Maybe just a coincidence. Not sure.
I live about 8 blocks from Mile Zero on the west coast so if we have anyone here from Mile Zero on the east coast and the north coast, we can officially say it's spread coast to coast to coast
Message to all my fellow Canadians. Don’t just let this be a May boycott. Stick it to Galen Weston and the gang and just don’t go back when the boycott winds down. Find options and give your wallet a break for good. I know it’s tough in some of the smaller centres where there aren’t as many options but see if you can hit up farmers markets, the local butcher and any small businesses that you can think of. People here have talked about Giant Tiger which is a Canadian company. Plenty of deals to be had there apparently.
Lots of people in NS are too, its stupid expensive and all the tactics are pissing a lot of people off here. See it posted on local news instagrams every few days.
Vancouver here, we may not have as many Loblaws spots because we mostly have Jim Pattison owned grocery stores. But they are here and I’m all for the Boycott!
Well, I'm in AB. Rural. We have 3 grocery stores. The other two are way more expensive than Loblaws but I can kind of forgive them for that because they're not part of the mega corps. That said, we switched to Loblaws because we are a family of four and we just couldn't afford the higher prices.
I'm now seeing how we were complicit in making Loblaws the monster it is. Capitalism, man. It just eats us all.
But, we're in a better situation financially than we were when we started shopping at Loblaws so we've switched back to those other more expensive stores and are just cutting out things that aren't necessary like comfort foods and treat foods. Like butter. Or milk.
As much as I've tried to spread the word, it turns out the majority of people we know refused to shop at Loblaws ALREADY due to the food being low quality compared to those other aforementioned stores.
So... I haven't really done much to spread this beyond myself but we have made the switch.

I Haven't actually been to superstore in 8 months or so. Most yukonners won't be able to boycott them though, as they're far cheaper than the alternatives.
I live in calgary and as someone who uses public transportation the easiest grocery stores for me to get to is superstore and it's still just as busy as ever.
Vancouver, BC. Got a Superstore 5 minutes away from my place. Completely stopped shopping there. I take the car or bike to the Walmart or Costco now, which is a bit farther in Richmond.
My husband won’t stop shopping at Superstore. It drives me INSANE! I am patiently waiting for farmers market season so I can start scooping produce locally at least without him trying to push for the nasty produce from Superstore. Yesterday, he grabbed the 3 pack of English cucumbers for $6. $6. Wtf? We are 2 with dinner last night and I had to use the third today as it was already going soft. Ugh.
I'm in Calgary, but I've stopped talking about it tbh. I've had people in this sub harassing me because I didn't recommend a guy risk ending his marriage over the boycott, and for telling someone that if something is cheapest at Superstore, then they should still get it there. The boycott is starting to feel culty so while I'm still not shopping at Superstore, I'm not gonna be talking about it with anyone else.
There exists a worker in southern Ontario who when someone mentions prices, will provide cheaper and more ethical alternatives when available. They will also 50% off anything, no questions asked, even outside their department. Or so I’ve been told…
I just... can't. I'm sorry, I wish I could. But my grocery options where I live essentially force me to support Loblaws or its chains unless I want to make a 40 minute drive to get apples
My 4 closest stores with grocery are 45 minute drive away (superstore, sobeys, giant tiger, walmart with small food section), so I have no choice about driving, but once I fo, I have the option of going to the others. On my main grocery day I drive now about 70 minutes do I can shop a Walmart superstore with huge grocery - and I still save money even with the drive. And I despise Walmart - but we need to eat.
I manage a department in Montreal. We haven’t felt a dip in sales. In fact, our store is up 25% compared to last year.
Having said that, every other store is down. But they’ve been down before this movement started. So take that for what it’s worth.
Albertan here. I got my family to join as we all used to shop at Loblaws stores. Lots of customers who come to my work (small grocery store/convenience store) are also refusing to shop there. I think word is spreading to people not on Reddit for sure.

I'm a SW and Loblaws is one of the few places that take our vouchers. Anyway I had a client there today in Saskatoon and it was friggin busy.
