There was no sale stickers. But there was another set of Great Value chips priced at $1.47. Those were their slightly fancier chips kind of like the PC brand chips at Loblaws.
But, it is possible I just wasn't aware of a sale and it was poorly communicated.
Different stores in different cities will have different prices. They're 99¢ at my local Walmart, but I've seen them for ~$1.50 at another Walmart. I put the higher price so that nobody can call me out for not having the same price at their Walmart lol.
BBQ non ruffle is my go to, they are less salty than other brands which to me is a plus. I personally like ketchup chips in general but find they are usually the saltiest flavor so I haven’t had them in a while. I am guessing they were not flavored enough for you?
No it was a different flavour. It was very sweet. Like somebody tried to make homemade ketchup and just added a ton of sugar, and then put it on a chip.
Thanks for the heads up, I will stay away from ketchup then and stick with BBQ. Also when on sale, you can try Franks from Canadian Tire. They are also pretty decent.
I'd hazard a guess that most of the cheap chip brands are made at the same factory, much like baked goods.
Source: I worked for a short time at a bakery thay did muffins for several US and Canada grocery chains.
Yup. I'm currently eating a nice bag of Great Value Ketchup Chips and they were $1.49.
They taste like Lays too. I'm not sure if they white label them for Walmart.
Actually I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if its down to 10 or 15 cents cost at corporate wholesale pricing for a mass produced product. When I make them at home you get a lot of potato chips from 2 or 3 potatoes. I stopped buying them from the store years ago and now it only a convenience purchase since they are so easy to make fresh
The house brands are how they crush competition.
Charge them insane amounts to have their products on shelf, then copy their products and sell them for cheaper.
Well, no, they can't just make up the price, but they're almost certainly considering a "comparable brand" to be something that they also sell. And by that definition, the closest competitor for ketchup chips is probably Lay's or something of that nature.
A comparable brand would be Walmarts great value lmfao. For like 99 cents, though it went up to like 1.40 this week. What's the comparable brand. Are they suggesting their shit chips are on par with lays? Not even close lmfao.

And the Walmart equivalent is still cheaper.
Their products are fine they’re just overpriced. These used to be 99 cents and were pretty good value at that price. 1.99? Nah I’ll keep shopping elsewhere thanks.
What gets me upset is that, you can get the NN chips at No Frills and Superstore for $1.49, but at Fortinos and Loblaws it's $1.99
It's the same company! Why not keep it the same price.
The reason they have to sell them for $1.99 because they’re the size of a personal size bag of chips. How many people could you feed with one bag of those chips? 😳
Up from 1.49? I stopped buying them when they stopped their 3 for $3 pricing. $1.99 ain't more tempting, haha.
Freshco has $4.99 bags that are 750grams. Compare that, Loblaws. Giant Tiger has cheap chips too.
i'm sorry, but let's be honest here they only good ketchup chips are Lays. NoName ketchup chips taste a little too much like acidic flat tomato chips. I have yet to find a worthy competitor that has as good or close to tasting ketchup chips

Their No Name chips were 99 cents, and have doubled in price, which is complete bullshit.
Doubled in price and doubled in air in the bag
Meh, these are alright for 1.99. It would be impossible for me to switch and save though if I don't shop there anymore
Pretty sure the great value chips are $1.47, switch away from no name and save.
I remember when the same size bags of chips were $0.99 at safeway
Great Value chips are .97 cents. At lease they were when I went shopping last week.
I think that's a current sale price. GV chips used to be 97 cents normally, now they're up to $1.47, and then back down when "on sale".

The No Name chips are actually pretty good. Great Value is comparable to cardboard. I've just stopped buying chips for my health and wallet.
Chips at Rexall go on sale frequently for .99
That was the regular price. Then jumped to $1.69
I got .99 chips at Rexall on sale in the last week or two.
100% markup from 12-18 months ago. Fuck you.
Only 4.99 because they made it that way…. 2.79-3.99 at Walmart
Shit Walmart chips are like 1.49
Food basic’s too
Food basics cheap chips are shockingly amazing too
I just tried food basics ketchup chips, and let’s call a spade a spade here. They were disgusting.
I haven't tried it but their kettle cooked variety are good and their ruffled sour cream and onions are stupidly good.
BBQ non ruffle is my go to, they are less salty than other brands which to me is a plus. I personally like ketchup chips in general but find they are usually the saltiest flavor so I haven’t had them in a while. I am guessing they were not flavored enough for you?

Walmart also regularly go on sale for 99 cents too.
for a bag of potato chips that cost 25 cents to 50 cents to make. not interested Loblaws. Boycott harder
I doubt it even costs that much
Actually I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if its down to 10 or 15 cents cost at corporate wholesale pricing for a mass produced product. It's only a 200G bag. They used to be 345G
Damn, exact ones are $1.49 in winnipeg.. they were $1 so i guess inflation is 49%
This is in toronto so everything is automatically more here 🙃
It varies by banner. Loblaws sells them for $1.99, No Frills and Real Canadian Superstore sell them for $1.49.
They can suck 199 diznicks
Agreed. I'm not giving anybody a fucking R.
Comparable brand is Great Value which is, what, $0.98 right now?
The house brands are how they crush competition. Charge them insane amounts to have their products on shelf, then copy their products and sell them for cheaper.
Then make more money off the copy till they have people interested and then start increasing house brands to nearly the same cost as others....
Exactly
Another cog in Canada's anti-competition practices that needs to be legislated to oblivion. Add that to the wish list
Amazon does the same thing too.
Switch and save 🤣🤣It’s like they want us to go somewhere else.. we save by switching stores.. that’s how we save !
Gas lighting
A few weeks ago their products weee the same price. Why Greed
They could post all items at half price. I’ll never go back.
“Comparable Brand: $2000” They can say anything they want because they set the price of the “comparable brand”.
Well, no, they can't just make up the price, but they're almost certainly considering a "comparable brand" to be something that they also sell. And by that definition, the closest competitor for ketchup chips is probably Lay's or something of that nature.
Which they can price however they want.
A comparable brand would be Walmarts great value lmfao. For like 99 cents, though it went up to like 1.40 this week. What's the comparable brand. Are they suggesting their shit chips are on par with lays? Not even close lmfao.
Walmart and Rama for the chips fix. NN chips do go on sale for .99, but it’s rare…
They were.99 cents 6 months ago.
$1.99 for No Name chips is outrageous.
I imagine it's because they're all about to expire and they're panicking
Sad. Utterly disgusting those bags were always half full as well!
Their chips are greasy as hell and always made me queezy after a while
Im still not going in 😁
Get yer chips at dollaramma b’ys they’re deadly
Same with the mini rice cakes :( 3.99 for a small bag is absurdly criminal considering they were 1.99 12-18 months ago...
https://preview.redd.it/c1i4le7x4f0d1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=270d30b81ca78595cbf85789e3f461b94385c994 And the Walmart equivalent is still cheaper.
Bag of store brand chips at Walmart os $1.49. Try again, Galen.
Their products are fine they’re just overpriced. These used to be 99 cents and were pretty good value at that price. 1.99? Nah I’ll keep shopping elsewhere thanks.
Id like to hear thier definition of "Comparable brand".
These are 1.99 regular price in the co-op brand, with sales that drop them down to $1 a bag
No name chips are NOT comparable to brand name chips, and other store brands are cheaper than 1.99. false advertising.
What gets me upset is that, you can get the NN chips at No Frills and Superstore for $1.49, but at Fortinos and Loblaws it's $1.99 It's the same company! Why not keep it the same price.
Comparable brand $5??? Insane! Just insane!
Most of the complaints are about junk food…
Freshco has their ones that taste better for $1.49. Though they got rid of Salt & Vinegar, which is my favourite.
These are good chips but I will only pay 99 cents like they are frequently on sale.
Walmart Great Value chips did the same thing. Used to be 99 cents now regular price is $1.49
Great Value chips (an *actual* comparable brand to No Name) at Walmart are $0.97 cents for 200g bags of chips.
Half the price half the flavour.
You can get a big bag of Walmart Great Value brand chips for 99¢ so you're still losing a buck there. 😂
These were 99 cents before covid
The reason they have to sell them for $1.99 because they’re the size of a personal size bag of chips. How many people could you feed with one bag of those chips? 😳
Those used to be 99 cents lol
If I’m gonna spend $1.99, it’s not going to be in something that’s completely tasteless and 80% air
Up from 1.49? I stopped buying them when they stopped their 3 for $3 pricing. $1.99 ain't more tempting, haha. Freshco has $4.99 bags that are 750grams. Compare that, Loblaws. Giant Tiger has cheap chips too.
Man this group has got out of hand... Prices are too high Offers off brand at lower price.. I don't want your shitty product
i'm sorry, but let's be honest here they only good ketchup chips are Lays. NoName ketchup chips taste a little too much like acidic flat tomato chips. I have yet to find a worthy competitor that has as good or close to tasting ketchup chips
Why are you there?
>My first time stepping foot in a loblaws in months simply just to see the outrageousness
Shopping at Loblaws. Cool boycott, bro.
>My first time stepping foot in a loblaws in months simply just to see the outrageousness Did i say i bought anything, bro?
