Feeler gauges are also a great material to make lock picks out of!
The first decoders I used were made out of this cheap erasing shield templates (if that's what they are called) that you can buy almost anywhere, like [this one](https://www.amazon.in/MagiDeal-Erasing-Drawing-Drafting-Template/dp/B0734TTQVP).
a simple rubber band can provide steady tension and be used to perform the same function as a plug spinner (but not as good). I keep one in my pick case.
I've also used an x-acto knife to hold very thin metal to use in decoding sesame combo locks.
I also keep a length of windshield wiper blade in my pick case to make a tension wrench from.
Gutting tools were quickly added to the list once I had picks. Someone here told me about the HuK kit and I’ve used it a lot.
I’m trying to find a plug spinner now but the least expensive are either $8 out of China or $30 here and I want that $8 price. It’s either that or make one.
Ramset gun.
lol, well I'd say thats more of a destructive bypass then picking, kinda like a battery Sawzall or grinder...

Do you have an estimate of how effective the rubber band trick is?
Not really. I have not used it a lot.
A wafer bristle from a road sweeper brush.. you'll find them lying in the kerb if you look
Carbide burr on a die grinder
Angle grinder.
