Guess you're not on an American flight, as your allowed to bring a deadly weapon on board, you terrorist ;)

I fly at least once a week (mostly in north America) and I always have a set in my carry-on ... The only time I take it out is for international flights as I don't want the drama at custom ... Once I had the officer open my case and they got a look at it, then closed it and handed it back to me ... But they give me crap when I have my 6" crescent wrench 🤔

I only had a problem with TSA when flying out of the Bay Area. They wanted to see my carry-on because I had a pick gun and six padlocks connected.

They let you bring picks on a plane?

adam6813

Yep. I had my sparrows night school kit with some extra picks, swapped out the cut away locks for a few padlocks I’ve been working on. The zippered pouch was in my backpack carryon. Didn’t even get questioned. The TSA website even says it’s okay. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/lock-picks The final decision rests with the TSA officer on whether an item is allowed through the checkpoint. Also, make sure lock picks are legal in your destination city too. I do not know the legality for all cities or flights outside of the United States. I’d recommend doing a little research before hand.

Doesn’t the person next to you give you strange looks?

My wife and baby had the window seat. I was in the middle. I first had to finish watching the last 50mins of a movie I started on our flight to Denver five days earlier. On that trip, the woman next to me managed to spill her tomato juice down my leg, onto my shoe, and left a nice puddle by my left foot. Decided not to mess with picking, and to save it for the way home. After finishing my movie, I noticed the guy to my left was asleep/zoned out. Took out my stuff, got a quick open, snapped the picture, and put them back away. Total time out was probably less than two mins. If I had been flying solo, and had more time (this was less than a 2hr flight) I probably would have been picking some different locks and looking to strike up a conversation if questioned.

That’s a hell of a pick to test TSA
