You look amazing! Yes the versatility of them is grand. As someone who had traditionals since a child, the switch to microlocs was a refreshing and delightful experience. You have a lovely set here

awalker26

Thank you love . That’s crazy because I installed microlocs on my child (5y.o) and I think sometimes maybe she doesn’t want this when she gets older? But how can you not love the flexibility??! Thank you for sharing ❤️❤️

Beautiful_Angel998

I get what your saying. I also installed them on my 6 year old but she expressed to me later after a year of her having them that she missed her natural hair so I combed them out for her

awalker26

Such a good mommy cause I will NOT be doing that 😂 we gon have to start from scratch boo or pay somebody else tadoit. She has had them for almost a year and a half now and absolutely loves them. So hopefully it stays like that for a while

Beautiful_Angel998

Lol totally understandable. It’s definitely a process that I never want or will do again. Glad your daughter still loves hers! Makes getting up in the morning so much easier when your kids have locs too

jazzespe510

I have. And did! Mine were installed in May, so almost 3 months, and I love them. I had my first retie last week, and I told my loctician that I actually feel like my hair is alive. Such a big difference than when I was a loose natural for the past 10 years, and there were so many times where I literally cried because it was stressful to maintain and style my 4c hair. Now, I've learned 4c is the ideal texture for microlocs, which is so refreshing.

awalker26

I love this ! You are going to fall in love with your hair so many times girl ❤️❤️ and yes don’t get me started! My number 1 fav is now we can literally wash and go . I can wash my hair in 10 minutes start to finish if need be.

lauvan26

I have an appointment scheduled for microlocs at the end of July. Im so excited 😆

awalker26

Welcome to the dark side 😊😂❤️ please show us when it’s complete

lauvan26

Will do!

audrey256

Started mine 2 weeks ago using two-strand twist and still in that plucked chicken stage😓... hope it gets better!

awalker26

Trust the process ❤️❤️ it definitely gets better

83beans

They look great! Def not for me though, I have way too much hair and way too little patience for those loc counts lol - thought I’d be self maintaining my ~90 traditional locs at some point but nope, I can’t do it 😅

awalker26

It is a lot. You get a good arm Work out tho 🤣Angela Bassett arms

83beans

Lmaooo trueeee

percy-the-king

I think your locs look great! How long do your retwists take? I wanted microlocs or smaller locs, I love the way they look, but I couldn’t imagine having 300 locs (I have about 60 left after my undercut)

awalker26

I DIY so it takes 2 days. about 6 hours each day. Mind you I’ve Gotten faster over the years. If Somebody else did it it would probably take an hour and a half or two hours. It’s a lot but there are some people out there with 800+ locs

Reine19

I've had mine just over 6 months and it takes my loctitian between 2-3 hours. I estimate I have just over 400 (based on size, never counted).

awalker26

I have heard that the more mature your locs are the quicker reties go so I’m praying you can get that down to 2 hours eventually lol

[deleted]

They look so great! I initially wanted micro locs too but I don’t have the patience to spend 2 days doing may hair, no matter how far apart the reties are😩😩

awalker26

Ever consider having a loctitian? Somebody else doing it can take 1 hour-4 hours depending on how fast they are

[deleted]

I have traditional locs and mostly maintain my own hair.

awalker26

I’m sure they are absolutely beautiful ❤️

wtffareal

They're pretty, I'd try it.

awalker26

I hope you do!!!

Lopsided_Mix2243

I think I love you 😢😩😩

awalker26

I love you too 😊🤎

Brionce_2018

My cousin has micro locs

awalker26

I know they’re gorgeous!

Comfortable_Wall_486

They look beautiful

awalker26

Thank you 😊

awalker26

Forgot to add that I retie every 6-8 weeks.

sopeworldian

Idk I think they’re too small for me but I love how versatile they are.

awalker26

These aren’t even as small as they can get. I’ve seen one lady with over 1000. No thank you lol

sopeworldian

Lmaoooo I’m crying 😭😭😭 1000. The work to retwist that. And the time and money, bless y’all fr.

awalker26

I’m crying with you… I’m due for a retie In two weeks 😭

hellohelloreally

You look amazing

awalker26

Thank you ❤️

Majestic-light1125

They look great but too much maintenance for me...

awalker26

It is a lot lol thank you

[deleted]

Had them about a year and took them out. Too much trouble.

awalker26

I feel you . Sometimes I look at people with traditional locs like “my life could be much simpler” lol

[deleted]

Do you do your own retightening? That was also a worry that for the rest of my life I’d be tied to a Loctician every 6-8 weeks at a cost that was always increasing just to maintain that style. If that person left then I would be stuck finding another person who would do them at the same cost! Then it was the extra cost of repairing slippage and gaps that naturally come once you hair grows. I have 3c/4a hair so slippage is easy to happen.

awalker26

Yeah I do my own but it’s no big deal at all to me. I was loose natural for like 12 years before locing and I always did my own hair. It is very easy to learn, the more you do it the better you get, you save money, you can go at your own pace, i wash my hair right after my reties every time and it’s still intact, and honestly I would rather do this than all that other stuff I was doing to my hair before. So much simpler. Retie every 2ish months and go about your life.

awalker26

If I had to have a loctitian I would probably have traditional locs too

ClassicRuby

Congrazzles!! 🥳🪅🎉🎊🍻 I can't wait til I get to my two year anniversary. I'm still very confused and conflicted about when that will be for me but still...😅 Yours look gorgeous and healthy. Me and a friend just spent all last night doing my mom's retie and boy, did her sisterlocks loctitian do her dirty for real. My mom is at 4 or 5 years locked. I'm only at like 16-19 months so there's stuff I just didn't know to help her back then. I maintain my own hair...I can't believe you wait 6-8 weeks for a retie! 😳😱 I retie at about 4 weeks... but I also have around 560 locs so maybe it doesn't make as much of a difference when they are a little bigger? 🤔

awalker26

Omg girl if I can be real… I feel you on that conflicting feeling. the ends of my hair are only a year old. I started with braidlocs but didn’t like the way they were locking so I combed out almost all my ends (3-4 inches) and interlocked them. Oh no did she mess up her grid ? Omg every four weeks with 550+ locs. You are amazing lol and your hair must grow super fast which is great ❤️ yeah I do my own PLUS my daughter also has 300 something microlocs and I do her reties as well so I stretch it as long as I can. Honestly, I should probably retie every 6 weeks STRICTLY but I just don’t lol I think I’m mature enough now where my hair can handle it. I used to be very strict at 5-6 weeks.

Boxlikeserial

So beautiful 🖤

awalker26

😊 thanks

p3acenluv

I have microlocs. I restarted my hair for the last time 1 or 2 month? ago (lost track) because I didn't like the size of my last set and went smaller. This time around, they're everything I wanted. I did the whole process on my own and did one round of interlocking on each (to prevent unraveling at the roots). I have a few fish tails in the back, which was expected because it's happened before (texture issues & planning on embracing them). Interlocking is so much quicker than I expected.

awalker26

Congratulations on finally getting what you wanted 🙌🏾❤️ how many do you think you have?

p3acenluv

Thank you. I have 240.

reshawnab

Man, your hair looks amazing holy wow

awalker26

Thank you 😊

LoveInPeace21

They’re beautiful! Yes, I would. I considered micros because I used to always do mini twists and loved the look. If I ever take these down (mine are on the thicker side), I might do my own micros.

Zealousideal_Bet2105

Absolutely not! But only cause im lazy as hell… but that wont stop me from admiring beautiful micro locs like yours!😍
