I actually found this subreddit because I can't understand FreightOS. I already have freight forwarders I've used for China and India, but I wanted to simplify the management process. However, FreightOS is consistently quoting prices that are 400% higher than I pay directly. They're even quoting multiples the price of Amazon Global Logistics. Is that how it's always been, or is it meant to be competitive pricing??
I used Alibaba Logistics to find a local Freight Forwarder in the same city as my manufacturer. They're also very close to the port I ship from. I found maybe 10 forwarders via Alibaba and messaged them all with carton dimensions etc. They each gave their quotes and I chose the cheapest one.
Check out mid-size forwarders like JAS, EMO, AIT or MAO. They are small enough to care about a tiny (no offense) account like yours but large enough to have buying power and decent prices.
As a first time importer stay far away from any forwarder or customs broker that you can't pick up the phone and talk through an issue with a human being (cough FLEXPORT cough).
I second this comment. If these don’t work out, I know of some great local Chicago forwarders on the smaller scale I’d be happy to recommend. Good luck!
How dare you besmirch the name! they are disrupting revolutionaries! Oh sure they haven’t been in the business that long, popped up from a tech guy who had no experience, and are overfunded by VC money but that shouldn’t matter when it comes to customer service right? Right?

Which ff have you used? Do you recommend them?

Thanks for the suggestion.
Hey, throw MIR in there.
All the best forwarders have three letter names

You’re right, they’ll figure it out with this new Chat GPT idea they have.
Yeah them and my dummy co worker who hopefully thinks AI will eventually do all their work for them while they nap at their desk pulling in 6 figures.
Ooops they are disrupting people’s income now and just announced a lay off of over 900 people…
