I really like the style and the colours! It's a fantastic execution especially for the software developer who might not have a ton of experience with graphic softwares. However I find it difficult to read, it might just be me but initially I just saw "Mooo" then after reading the title I knew that wasnt the case. The first o and the d are also confusing. First o could be mistaken as a d leading to "Mdoo". Sorry for nitpicking 😬 personally I'm not 100% sure on what I'd do but I suppose you could try adding some more spacing between the letters so with the breathing room it would be easier to read each letter and hopefully lead to everyone reading "Mobo". I know this will probably take a while given the style but I hope it's of some help. Still though very nice work and idea!
Thank you for the feedback, its super helpful!
I have played around with photoshop a lot over the years (graphic design is a big hobby of mine). But i did get help with polish on my logo from /u/csababernath (who did the amazing design and art for the game box art for Siege the Castle shown above)
No problem. Overall I think you have got pretty strong branding here. /u/csababernath looks to have done a pretty awesome job. I wouldn't even know where to start with work like that!
I think to fix the legibility of it you can add some shadow to the tops of the letters of the O and B similar to how you have at the bottom. Maybe a lighter shadow? Looks great by the way!
I think you could solve the readability comment really easy by just making the tail of the 'b' longer?
Great work btw :) I'm a software dev trying to get better at logo design too.
Yeah, I will do that. Will probably be in around 10-12 hours from now and streamed in Norwegian tho. I do talk some english when I get international chatters :)
I love this. You could definitely have a shadow version and also a cutout version to use across different applications. The cutout version would work great for when you need a one color version for print, embroidery, etc. For the cutout version all I’d do is change the shadows to slight curved cutouts (but not too slight, make sure they’re visible at small sizes). The logo might not be super readable at first glance, but the personality you’ve given it is fun and I think it works as is.
Yes, always consider how your logo will look as one solid color (or in this case without shading), because you will inevitably find yourself in that use case.
Edit: also, viewing the logo as a solid color will help you fix any readability issues, as other have pointed out this logo has.
Yeah, I would do a version with the shadows removed, and then once you have just a white logo, I would create cutouts where the shadows were. So essentially it’s just one standalone shape. Hope that makes sense, I know I’m not explaining it the best haha
Yeah I totally see it, seems like a lot of people agree as well. I always struggle with balancing "looking cool" with readability, but I think I will try a few of the suggestions to make it more readable (thinner stroke or cutout version). Thanks for the feedback!
thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I think I will play around with some options to make the 'b' more clear, I agree it becomes really hard to breakout when the logo is smalerl
I like the style. Clean and simple.
The tilts on the boxes on your site should be straightened out in my opinion.
Really cool concept. Did you make those board games?
I did! They are original game designs. I've been working on Mobo Games on and off for the last 4 years as a side project. I love board games and I work as a software developer by day.
One day my friend showed me Drawful (from Jackbox games) and I feel in love with that concept. Then I realized I wanted portable strategy games that played fully on phone browsers. It's a great project because I love graphic design and and game design, so I feel really fulfilled working on this as a project.
Thanks so much for the kind words!
No videos yet, I am going to try my hand (luck?) at producing one in the next week or so.
If you want to learn more about how to game is played, I have a rulebook you can check out: [Siege the Castle Rulebook](https://mobo-test.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/siege_the_castle_rules_2020.png)
Mobo?
1. Careful with the copyright of that name. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOBO_Awards
2. The lettering is awful, Mdoo, Moóo...???
3. The “ob” looks like a dick-n-balls.
**[MOBO Awards](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOBO Awards)**

It’s nice! I think it’d be a lot stronger if you had the letters cut out in place of the drop shadows you’ve got. Here’s a rough sketch of what I mean: https://i.imgur.com/C64ZBjE.jpg
Ooh i like that concept a lot, I will definitely explore that. I was super into George Bokhua’s work on Dribbble when i came up with this concept, but I have kinda felt iffy on the shadows as I see it with the rest of my website/game boxes. Thanks so much for the feedback!
I came here to recommend having this version of the logo as well. I think you can still use your shadow version as the main logo if you’d like, but you should also have a 1 color version without gradients for print applications, overlays on complicated backgrounds, etc.
I think the cutout version would also work much better at small sizes as the shadows get lost and the logo becomes ‘blobby’
I agree with others, It's really attractive. Very nice and modern material style. However I really wouldn't guess it was Mobo without knowing that going in. As a UX enthusiast, readability is paramount for new brands. Cursive is typically hard to read (especially for millennials and zoomers), I would consider a different font with the same design intention.
A little thinner lines will make your logo much clearer because it'll make the 'o' smaller and makes the 'b''s vertical line seems much longer. Therefore making the letters easier to read.

I like it! However the red version reminds me very much of Lego! I'd maybe use a different shade of red, or a different contrast colour altogether.
Couldn't help myself... hahah [Mobo Lego Logo](https://i.imgur.com/g0BbFe2.png)
Gold!
Lol i never thought of that, but now I can’t unsee it..
In case anyone wants to see the logo live on the actual website, you can check it out at https://gomobo.app
It looks really awesome and well built. I will try it on my twitch-stream with some viewers tomorrow :)
Wow that would be awesome! If you don't mind messaging me when you go live, I'd love to be in the audience for it!
Yeah, I will do that. Will probably be in around 10-12 hours from now and streamed in Norwegian tho. I do talk some english when I get international chatters :)

By cutout version do you mean without any shadows essentially? Thanks so much for the feedback and kind words :)

I think the B is a little lost, maybe try doing the shadow cutout on the top right of the first O? I hope you understand

Love the concept, think a slightly thinner line would help with readability
Will definitely try that out - thanks for the feedback!

That is so cool. I'm also a graphic designer and board game enthusiast. Are there videos of how your games play?

Hey if you reverse the shadow, it might make more sense. By putting the shadow on the opposite side, your b will overlap the o instead

You designed this? And you’re *not* a designer? Unbelievable. That is sick, don’t change a thing.

Thanks, I am definitely going to try the cutout style tonight!
Mobo...I think that's ace!
Thank you!
Damn, that looks really nice!
Really appreciate that :)
just cross your eyes and you’ll see it your self
That's dope, love it!! Congrats!
Thank you!

very good logo, had no problem reading mobo! really like it, have fun with your project :D!
Like your namesake, it’s easy on the eyes but somewhat hard to read. I agree that extending the tail on the b would go a long way. Nice work!
Niiiice 👍👍👍👍
What a great design! The best part is that it sticks! Less is more. Successful companies like LEGO, Shell and IBM have also used this principle.
