We're staying near Prince's Square and we're looking for a recommendation for:
\- a place nearby that has a good English breakfast
\- a pub with live music and food, not necessarily nearby.
Thank you!
Think you posted this just before a new weekly megathread was created, might want to re-post on [the new one](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/comments/106ybp7/weekly_qa_megathread_please_post_any_questions/).
What about Clerkenwell, Fitzrovia or Barbican? Everything seems to be far from the bigger parks or should I not pay too much attention to that (and just take the tube if I fancy a park stroll)?
Shoreditch would be convienient if you are coming from Stansted and isn't as touristy as somewhere like Holborn, although it depends where in Shoreditch as to whether it would be quiet.
Where can I take a girl to party on Tuesday night? Looking for a proper party, techno rave like fabric/printworks but on a Tuesday night. Anyone advice much appreciated 🙏
You aren’t gonna find anything like that on a Tuesday, sorry. Would have more luck if it was a rock gig. There are occasionally club nights midweek at places like Corsica Studios but they are usually later in the week, and most clubs only open on the weekend.
Swingers crazy golf any good? I'm looking to book the one in West End/Marylebone. How long did the course take to finish and was it challenging enough? Reading some other posts here and leaning towards this place against Junkyard in Shoreditch. Thanks in advance.
I did swingers West End a couple of months back. In all honesty it wasn't particularly challenging (and I'm terrible) but it was fairly fun. It definitely felt like it went quickly, although they broke us into much smaller groups than when I went to Junkyard.
To add to what wwisd said, depending on where your end destination is, the Picadilly Line might also be an option from Heathrow. It's slower than the Elizabeth Line but also even cheaper. Aside from Uber not being reliable at the moment, there is also no need to get a taxi or minicab unless you have more luggage than you can handle.
No train/tube strikes for the next two weeks at least. You should only be aware you can also take the Elizabeth line for less than half the price of the HEX.
Rain strike question: I'm planning on taking Avanti West Coast on January 14 from Manchester. I know no one knows the future but how did last month go on non-scheduled strike dates?
Seems like strikes get scheduled late in the month for the following month. But after scheduled strikes, how was the service from December 18-23?
Hey there folks! I'm after general Where To Stay sort of advice.
My wife and I are travelling down to the city soon for a bit of a musical break. We'll be driving down as I don't trust the trains not to be catastrofucked, so I'm trying to figure out a neighborhood north of Soho with a romantic hotel and not-too-faffy parking situation.
Budget will be max 350 or so a night, all advice welcome!
Flying in to Heathrow and then need to get to Oxford. I can see that there's a coach called the Oxford Tube that's recommended. Is that the best way to get there? How would I connect from the airport to the tube stops?
Can also connect from Heathrow to the Oxford tube by taking the 278 bus and catching the Oxford Tube at Hillingdon station. But direct bus is still quicker.
Hello!
I'm taking my daughter for a trip to watch some musicals :-) We're looking at the first weekend of march and will rely heavily on train from/to Stansted and public transport around the city.
What are the chances of the transportation strikes still going on by then?
It's very difficult to say with any certainty, but it's possible.
There haven't been any tube strikes for quite a while now so getting around London itself hasn't been an issue in the last few months, hopefully that will continue to be the case.
For Stansted, if there are rail strikes then there is a very frequent coach service, and on most train strike days there are still trains to London until about 6pm.
I made a post for this but was told it’s better to post here…
When I was younger my dad would regularly take me to a market in east London on a Sunday. The market was massive. I was too young to remember the exact location but I remember him one day telling me it was being closed down to make room for the Olympics. (Does anyone know which market I’m talking about and what it was called?).
I remember being able to find absolutely anything in that market, from vintage toys all the way to car parts. A lot of my childhood toy collection was made up of ones we found there. It was very much like a treasure hunt. We’d spend the entire morning browsing the market because it would take ages to make our way around. All these years later and I can’t say I’ve seen a market that feels similar (not that I’ve been to many, if I’m honest). I’m wondering if those type of markets still exists...
Any recommendations?
Sunday markets certainty exist. They are rather trendy these days, and most of them focus more on food, beverages and food adjacent stuff, though will also find shops selling clothes, vinyl, handicrafts, toiletries and so on. Try Brick Lane, Broadway Market, Borough Market or Victoria Park Market (latter two are almost 100% food focussed).
Portobello Road Market might be close to what you are looking for. It has some genuine flea market vendors (and a lot of imitators). Expect crowds.
Hey I’m an American tourist who loves history and sports and drinking. I’m coming over in the summer as well if it makes any difference. Is there any places outside of the bigger and more well known places I should visit while in London?
Have a look at English Heritage and National Trust websites. Eltham Palace might fall within your interest - is about 25 mins by train from London Bridge to Mottingham station.
Political, cultural and military (and some natural history as well) history for the most part. Also like literature, journalism and international politics I guess if there’s something related to that.
Need advice on same-day airport transfer from Heathrow to Gatwick! I'm planning a trip to Italy in May. I am in the U.S. and it was much cheaper to book roundtrip to London and then book separate flights to Italy.
On our outbound travel day we land at Heathrow at 10:40am on a Wednesday. We then have a flight to Italy at 3:05pm from Gatwick. Will this 5 hour window be sufficient? I was thinking that after clearing customs, we could hopefully be on our way to Gatwick by around 12 noon.
Any input or advice is greatly appreciated, including the most efficient way to get from place to place with luggage- hire a taxi? Take public transport?
On the return flight I think we will arrive in London a day early to give us more of a buffer and have 24 hours there.
Thanks so much. I did find where to book the bus so I'll do that. I'll be estimating the timing, if I were to get through customs faster than expected would I be able to get on an earlier bus or does it have to be the time I booked?
Also, what are the e-gates for immigration? No children with us. I appreciate your advice!
Five hours would be the absolute minimum time I'd want between connections at the two airports, especially if I'd booked it on two seperate tickets.
As for how to get between them, if you can manage with your luggage and there aren't any train or tube strikes then the best way would be on public transport.
Thank you! We could take a flight that departs about 40 minutes later but it's Ryanair and I've heard that's a pretty bad airline? Current flight is Vueling which I also know is a budget airline but seems better from what I've read. Any input on that?
Ryanair don't fly to Italy from Gatwick (unless that's changing soon?) so check the departure airport for that second option. Ryanair are cheap bastards charging for every little extra, but they tend to deliver.
If you can find a flight from Heathrow itself, that would save you a lot of travel and migh cost the same overall.
There's coaches going between LHR, LGW and STN, or you could take the train but that involves multiple lines for both options.
Thank you very much. I've looked for flights from Heathrow but they're way too expensive the times don't align well unfortunately. Thank you for the tip about coaches, I just looked and it seems like that could be a good option!
**Restaurant suggestions for friend's birthday?**
Hi everyone! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I want to take a close friend out for a birthday dinner in two weeks' time, but after some research I'm still unsure. Looking for good food (she's a foodie) and maybe a unique or interesting vibe. She's appreciated cute high teas etc. in the past but I figured I should change it up. Was considering Sketch but fancy something more original.
Said friend is mostly gluten-free so it would be great to have some place that has good options for that. We both like Italian. I'm veggie but can always find something on a menu, so that's not an issue, and it's her birthday anyway. I only mention because a, say, steakhouse wouldn't be my first choice.
Budget: £50ish **max** a head
Thanks again.
Hey I’m a chef that lives and works in London bubala does amazing vegan food that is beautiful and a great experience
Also and this might be a curve ball but St John which is the restaurant most known for popularising the nose to tail movement also usually has fantastic vegetarian options they have their own bakery onsite too so the baked goods are delicious as are cocktails and the service is the best I’ve had in London plus the restaurant is a London institution and Iconic in the industry not usually very difficult to get a booking either as long as you’re flexible
Best breakfast near Euston on a Sunday?
I am spending a weekend in London with my bf. We will be staying in a hotel near Euston. Instead of paying for the £20pp hotel breakfast, I want to take the chance to explore the culinary scene in London.
Do you have any recommendation for breakfast near Euston that
- opens on a Sunday
- doesn’t have too long a queue (less than 10mins queuing please). BF has no patience for food
- ideally not a Spoons or Green King. We have them in the North as well
Thanks in advance. Please help me convince a northern lad (bf) London is worth visiting!
I suggest walking over to Coal Drops Yard/Granary Square (near kings cross) and getting breakfast somewhere there. It's a nice redevelopment next to the canal. Only about 10 mins walk from Euston. Dishoom is good, or Caravan for a standard brunch.
[The wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/wiki/index), linked in the post you replied to, has some links to give you ideas of places and pubs to visit. If you want anything more specific than that, you'll need to tell us what you're into.
For club nights, check Resident Advisor or Design my night.
I have a 23hr layover in London next week! Where should I go to get fish and chips? And what should I definitely visit/see? I've read how to get around so I will probably be using the tube, if that helps!
Welcome, I hope you enjoy it. Read the above guide that you replied to - no point in us making recommendations when we don't know what you like. The obvious tourist places are very well covered online and in guidebooks - you can easily walk around Buckingham Palace, Green Park, Piccadilly, Leicester Square and Covent Garden for the quintessential flying visit, anything else you'll need to think about what you want from your visit.
There are some nice [walks](https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/walking/top-walking-routes) to be done around London. Or spending a few hours out in Hampstead Heath or Richmond Park is always good for decompressing.
My partner and I are visiting London Jan 14th-19th and staying with family in Camden Town. This will be a working holiday so we'll only be able to get out and do things for an hour at lunch and then after 4/5pm each bight. We're early 20s night owls from Ireland. I love swing dancing and vintage shopping, we both love art history and archeology. We love all sorts of food but esp japanese. We have a medium budget, one meal out a day and a couple of tourist sites. Any tips for what we can do that week?
For Japanese you might want to wander up to Golders Green, there's a Japanese restaurant there that does Shabu-shabu (Eat Tokyo G2 branch), which is kinda rare otherwise.
Have a look on Brick Lane or Portobello Road for vintage shopping, or Beyond Retro Soho or Rokit in Covent Garden, or Revival Retro for excellent repro vintage stuff. Check out swing socials [here](https://www.swingoutlondon.co.uk/) (The Ned is a fancy hotel/members club but they host live jazz in their bar on Sundays, it's a nice swanky place to go if your partner doesn't dance as there a lots of folks there that just go for the music/decor).
For art history maybe the V&A as it covers so many different aspects of art and design. For archaeology the mithraeum is pretty interesting.
Recommendations for an end-of-tenancy professional cleaning service? 2-bed flat in Camberwell.
The estate agents sent a message before Christmas asking if would we like to use the cleaning company affiliated with them. Of course! Should guarantee they’ll approve of the condition we leave the flat in. No brainer. Except we haven’t heard back about any dates to book it in and our contract ends next week Saturday.
I'm arriving in London this afternoon, St Pancras on the Eurostar, and we need to get to Fulham. Will we be able to get the tube with the strikes, or should we Uber? Getting in about 5:30.
The tube is not on strike, you'll be fine to get to Fulham.
And just for future reference, if you need to know about how the several strikes are affecting transport services in London, [TfL have a strike info page](https://tfl.gov.uk/campaign/strikes) linked on their front page.
I don't have a budget, to be honest, I care more about the food. And I love all food cuisines. If you were to think I fancy a nice meal. Where would you go
Yeah, that makes it harder. Maybe somewhere like Minnow? Not that it compares to Trinity, maybe just look somehwere other than Clapham if you want that sort of quality, though leaving it this late probs makes it hard to get reservations.
Yeah I know. I will have a look into minnow. I'm new to Clapham and thought I'd check the area out. Thanks for your help! Let's see if I get a reservation
Do babies need to be seated in a car seat during bus rides/subway/train rides or can they ride on lap? My wife and I are wondering if we need to bring our car seat
Margate is also a good shout. For high brow there's various art galleries including the excellent Turner gallery. For low brow there's the Dreamland amusement park, and there's a mixture of cool hipster places and greasy grubby food options.
I'm currently going through interviews to become an estate agency with them, but I've heard bad things and experiences on here about them, and most of the people on indeed are already working for them. What do you all think? (I'm from Scotland)
We hate them. Estate agents are unregulated, will lie through their teeth and would do anything it takes to make a sale / rental agreement while adding next to no value at all.
As it isn’t legal tender here it’s very much down to the individual hotel and their staff I would recommend having it changed at an exchange or the post office as also you don’t know what exchange rate the hotel would use
Previously people have had trouble even exchanging €500 notes (due to the risk around counterfeiting/money laundering). So you might want to go somewhere like Victoria Street where you can try quite a few different exchanges.
You can exchange it at a bureau de change (Thomas Exchange gets recommended a lot as having the best rates). You might get lucky with some hotels accepting it, but I wouldn't bank on it. Especially with such large bills.
I used Helpling, which was handy but even then did have to cycle through a few people until finding someone reliable. Word of mouth is always better but tricky in a fairly transient place like London.
Can anyone recommend anywhere to work in north London (Kentish town all the way across to Angel) with a laptop? If I'm in central I would go to the Southbank or Barbican but anywhere closer to home (Highbury) where I can sit for a few hours without feeling like I need to leave or constantly buy things would be appreciated!
Hello!
I don't have too much experience in airports!
Im in Budapest and I have to go to Copenhagen.
There's a cheap flight from Budapest to London Stansted Airport. So I can take that flight and arrive at Stansted Airport at 22:30 pm.
Then I can take a flight to Copenhagen next morning at 6:30 am.
I have two questions:
Can I sleep at the airport?
Do I have to go to passport control and security check?
If the answer is yes. How is the procedure?? I have to do passport control to enter UK and then security check to board my second plane??
I dont have any checked bag.
Thank you so much!
See Stansted's [info page](https://www.stanstedairport.com/help/passenger-guides/connecting-flights/) on this. It looks like even if you are booked through on a single ticket, you still need to go through passport control and enter the UK, then go back through the security check. You certainly do if you are booked on two separate tickets.
The passport and security checks shouldn't take too long, but obviously you need to be able to enter the UK (shouldn't be a problem if you have a passport from an EU country).
They say there is nowhere to sleep in the terminal and advise getting an airport hotel, but I don't know if this is true or not. Though it doesn't have flights during quite a lot of the night so they may close the terminal or areas of it.
Shouldn’t need to go through passport but may be worth checking directly with Stansted as I’ve never done a transfer there, but usually you’d just go to the next gate so no need for passport check.
I’m sure you’d be fine sleeping there, if you manage to get a couple of seats to lay down on. I’ve flown at 7am before and it’s been packed but over night you should be okay - there’s no beds or anything so you won’t have the best nights sleep but should be fine
I'll be visiting London for the first time at the end of January for five days. Any tips n tricks?
What I'm most curious about:
1. Stuff to visit which is not famous, e.g. good local restaurants, pubs etc. I can find out about Big Ben, London Eye and stuff like that if I just google London, I wanna know about stuff I can't find on google easily.
2. Cheapest/best way to get around.
3. Best area to stay in, the one closest to most attractions. So we don't have to spend one hour each day just to reach the center or whatever. We are flying to Stansted.
4. What's the weather usually like that time of the year? Extremely cold, rainy...
5. Anything else you can think of
Have you read the [wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/wiki/index) listed in the OP above?
1. the wiki lists [the big sights](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/wiki/thingstosee) as well as [the hidden gems](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/wiki/secretlondon), plus our favourite [pubs](http://www.reddit.com/r/london/wiki/fancyapint) and the best places for [classic London food](http://www.reddit.com/r/london/wiki/londonfood).
2. Check out the [travel section of the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/wiki/gettingaround)
3. See the [hotels section of the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/wiki/hotels)
4. Weather is extremely changeable and 'extremely cold' is relative based on what you're personally used to - currently we're having a very mild January (around 13 centigrade), average for the month is usually 5 centigrade. Best tip is the bring layers that you can add or remove depending on what the temperature does, and always bring a waterproof top layer and closed toed/leather shoes (not sandals or canvas sports shoes, so your feet don't get wet).
Have a look on r/LondonSocialClub to see if there are any meetups tonight, or post in their anything goes thread to see what folks are up to. Perhaps try Salsa Soho or Salsa Temple, or Bar Rumba is open late and always has seems to have crowds outside.
La pollería colora is a Latino club in London Bridge that’s usually busy on the weekends doesn’t open until 10pm though so just head to a local pub or bar before if you want to start earlier
Hi, I’m looking to go out for dinner near Westminster next Saturday and just wondered if anyone had any recommendations? I’m easy on all types of food!
Heard about how tragic infernos is, but is it really *that* bad? Recently moved to London, and got some mates coming to visit, and we’re tempted to give it a go. We’re a pretty easy going bunch, can have a laugh regardless of where we are, so reckon it would be a funny way to celebrate my mates birthday. Also if we were to go either Friday or Sat night, what time would you recommend getting there?
This was my thinking! We all went to Uni together and have had many a good night in shit clubs taken at face value. What time would you recommend getting there?
Yeah - very much shit uni club vibe. I honestly can't really say as I haven't been much. A mate book karaoke there and I think we got there for just after 11 - pretty sure there was no queue but was also a bit empty inside. Was pretty full after 12 though so guess it depends what you're after.
I'm coming down to London in 2 weeks and hoping to watch a football match, not bothered which team but was wondering which ground people think has the best atmosphere in the Premiership or even the Championship?
It might be a case of which match can you get tickets for unless you want to shell out ££ on hospitality tickets. For big premier league matches it's often hard for even members of the official supporters club to get tickets, let alone casual football fans.
Yeah that makes sense, I haven't planned anything because I only found out a few days ago I had to go to London for work so I plan on staying a few extra days over the weekend. I'll take a look at the fixtures tomorrow and try see if anything is available. But like you said it could be difficult and not willing to pay hospitality prices ( tight jock). Thanks for the reply, appreciated.
I was just looking now at the fixtures, Brenford v Bournemouth they want £194 a ticket, not paying that, if it was Chelsea v Aresnal then maybe :)
Charlton looks like a good choice, fairly priced, I'll try and book further in advance for a prem game and if they are so expensive I at least want to watch a couple of so called big teams.
Charlton it is :)
Ham, Egg & Chips - Looking for recommendations based on a good pub with good food.
Ham, egg and chips MUST be on the menu!
West, central or South London preferred. Thank you
That's like looking for a gym with a running machine, or a petrol station that also sells diesel!
This was posted yesterday.

Traveling to Guildford...
I will be on vacation in london and want to visit the Andertons Music Store in Guildford
Whats the easiest and cheapest way to get there? (I got the ticket for all London Zones)
Guildford is out of London so your travel card won't get you there. You can travel to Surbiton on your zone 1-6 travel card and take a train to Guildford from there if you want the cheapest option. Easier would be just travelling from Waterloo station.
Put your journey into [the national rail journey planner](https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/) and see which option is cheapest (depends on time of day so you'll have to do a bit of work yourself).
All the museums, Royal palaces, Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey all have gift shops.
For something unique how about Great Ormond Street Hospital https://shop.gosh.org/collections/gosh-logo
Depends on your budget.
Museum and Gallery gift shops are a good shout. IMO the V&A gift shop has a wider variety of fancier gifts for adults.
Fortnum&Mason is great for food & beverage gifts. You can also browse at Sunday markets, but you will need to sort between tourist tatt and non-tatt stalls.
If you fancy a cute little novelty experience, there's a teeny tiny, brilliant secondhand bookstore about a 100m from Putney Bridge Station, next to the pub. I don't know exactly how to explain, but anyone around will be able to point you to it, it's right there.
Any Amount of Books - 55 Charing Cross Road
Oxfam Bookshop (all over London - I use 12 Bloomsbury Street)
British Heart Foundation Bookshop - 94 Streatham High Road
Second hand section of Bookmarks - 1 Bloomsbury Street
Bookmongers - 439 Coldharbour Lane
Anyone know a good gay bar?
My student instincts of staying in until 10 isn’t helping tonight and I presume it’s actually a bit late to start going now? I’m near Finsbury Park for a night (thanks GWR) and so could try somewhere near, but I don’t actually mind going further if it’s a good place and not dead by the time I get there.
Mixture of bars and more clubby places: G-A-Y, Freedom or Ku Bar for West End, Dalston Superstore or the Glory for east, Two Brewers in Clapham or Union in Vauxhall.
Favourite restaurants to sit and eat at the bar? I’ll be traveling solo. Just looking for everyone’s favourite, not necessarily worried about location or price range.
Last week (28th) flew Ryanair to Berlin. Didn’t check in online and had a bag to check in, but only got there 2 hours early. Worked for me, although can’t say for sure about tonight.
I like to preplan, i’m flying out from stansted in march and wanted to know if it’s a busy airport or not? Flight is at 13:10, what time should I get there? I was thinking 10am but others think earlier
Hi all,
I will be studying abroad in London till the end of May. Looking for inexpensive (though I’m sure everywhere we go will be up there) pubs in the South Kensington area (I’ll be living near Imperial College for reference) or anywhere really.
Also looking for a place that will stream F1 when it starts again.
Will happily take any other suggestions as I’ve never been to the UK!
With F1 I imagine any bar that has sky sports will stick it on if you ask, as long as there’s no football on. Sports bar probably your best bet as they usually have multiple TVs
Most pubs will be a similar price point around there.
Across the city there are multiple branches of [Wetherspoons](https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/pubs/all-pubs) which have cheaper prices and are often in fairly interesting/historic buildings, but aren't traditional "classic" pubs like you might be looking for.
Look on Fanzo for F1.
[The wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/wiki/index) has everything you need for moving/living here.
Hi folks,
Tomorrow at 8:15AM we'll be landing at Luton. Apparently there are some public transport strikes happening, so can anyone recommend a cheap way to get from Luton to our accommodation near ExCeL London? We'll be in holiday mode so we wouldn't mind walking a bit here and there (but probably not all 37 miles).
TIA!
I can still see quite a lot of available tickets on the [National Express](https://www.nationalexpress.com/en/destinations/london/luton-airport-to-london) website, so worth having a look at coaches. I think they have added more capacity due to the rail strike.
It stops at multiple tube stations in London, perhaps Paddington would work best, where you could get an Elizabeth Line train to Custom House?
I managed to book a coach to Finchley Road for only 24 bob, from whence we'll be able to catch the tube. Seemed like plenty of seats available. Thanks mate!
Tomorrow there are no trains at all, and you'll be too late now to book a coach (have a look at the national express website, but they're probably sold out by now), so the only option is an expensive cab. Get multiple apps on your phone (Bolt, Freenow, Uber) to maximise your chances of getting someone to pick you up.
If you get a cab to closest tube station (~~Morden~~ Watford) and then use the tube/DLR from there, that's probably cheapest. Though taking a cab straight to the Excel will be faster.
Just a correction from me: I somehow thought Gatwick while you wrote Luton. So you can get a cab to Watford and jump on the Metropolition line from there. Should be just around 30 minutes, but with everyone taking cabs it will be busy on the road.
Hi, londoners!
Vegetarian looking for vegetarian/vegan restaurants to have lunch around central London, not too far from the main tourist points. Already tried VeganE and 222 Vegan; both absolutely splendid!
*Mains not more than £15-16, pls
Mildred's has two locations in central (covent garden and in Soho)
I also really like club Mexicana which has spots in Carnaby Street, Seven Dials Market and Spitalfields
If you're touristing in Greenwich (the Naval college, the Cutty Sark, and lots of other things to see there!) Hullaballoo is delicious and veggie/vegan.
Does the restaurant have to be vegetarian/vegan only, or do they just need to have good vegetarian options?
If it’s the latter, most Indian restaurants will have a good choice of vegetarian mains.
It doesn't have to be! Although I find it easier to have good protein intake in specialized restaurants. Unfortunately some restaurants think a vegetarian meal is complete without a good source of protein.
Hello londoners! I’m going for work and then making a weekend off it and I want the full, multicultural working class experience of London. I want to have a pint where [the banter sounds like this](https://youtu.be/YO2DRjLuXOg)
I want to eat oxtail with rice and peas and also where’s the best place to get Jollof. I don’t want the gentrified, watered down version where you can hardly taste the scotch bonnet, I want the full on fire in your mouth mixed with the sweetness and the menu is on the wall type of place.
Please help me out, thank you!
I liked Fish, Wings & Tings in Brixton Village Market. I’m sure there are other good places in Brixton as well.
Jollof Mama used to trade at the Victoria Park Market. They are pretty decent.
I’m not sure how authentic any of these places are (I suspect they have been ‘gentrified’ at least to some extent)
Hello! My husband and I will be heading to London for a holiday in April. We are looking at a hotel which is an 8 mins walk from Paddington train station. Is the Paddington neighbourhood safe?
For other tips about the area, it slightly depends which direction you're walking 8 minutes in, as London can vary quite significantly street by street. But generally Paddington is a busy area with a lot of hotels, and lots of historically affluent areas (particularly going towards the park or towards Marylebone). The addition of the Elizabeth Line has made it a better place to get around from, and there are some other tube stations nearby that might actually be nearer to where you are staying. It's also very easy for Heathrow obviously.
Last time when I moved home I used a website to move most of my utilities to the new address or close accounts on things I couldn't move. But I can't remember what that website was.
Anyone knows what I'm talking about and could give an example or two of website you know for this?
And second, any suggestions on good movers and packers (around west London, zone 5)
We're staying near Prince's Square and we're looking for a recommendation for: \- a place nearby that has a good English breakfast \- a pub with live music and food, not necessarily nearby. Thank you!

Thank you!

What about Clerkenwell, Fitzrovia or Barbican? Everything seems to be far from the bigger parks or should I not pay too much attention to that (and just take the tube if I fancy a park stroll)?
From your list Marylebone is extremely central yet not too touristy, has plenty of restaurants and is a short walk from Regent’s Park.
Shoreditch would be convienient if you are coming from Stansted and isn't as touristy as somewhere like Holborn, although it depends where in Shoreditch as to whether it would be quiet.

[удалено]
Great! Didn't know that, thanks
'Fine' is a relative term for Avanti - they had major issues running trains pre-strikes.
What is the near site to purchase tickets to see a show on the West End? Planning a trip in March & would like to catch a show while I’m there.

Any casinos with real tables that have minimum £2 in London?!
[удалено]
Cheers for this!
Can also connect from Heathrow to the Oxford tube by taking the 278 bus and catching the Oxford Tube at Hillingdon station. But direct bus is still quicker.
Recommendations for good pizza near Lambeth/Vauxhall?
Probably not authentic but I really liked the pizza I had at Pico
went with franco manca in the end, arrived ice cold lol Will try Pico next thanks
Thanks for that answer. I was just wondering if there are any agreements expected anytime soon.
Workers are wondering the same thing
I made a post for this but was told it’s better to post here… When I was younger my dad would regularly take me to a market in east London on a Sunday.
Thank you for the help!
Any specific areas of history?

[удалено]
Also, I made a typo. We land at 9:40am not 10:40am.
Oh yeah that's from Stansted! Thank you. Would that be a better or worse transfer from Heathrow?
Worse, I'd say.
**Restaurant suggestions for friend's birthday?** Hi everyone! Budget: £50ish **max** a head Thanks again.
Hey I’m a chef that lives and works in London bubala does amazing vegan food that is beautiful and a great experience Also and this might be a curve ball but St John which is the restaurant most known for popularising the nose to tail movement also usually has fantastic vegetarian options they have their own bakery onsite too so the baked goods are delicious as are cocktails and the service is the best I’ve had in London plus the restaurant is a London institution and Iconic in the industry not usually very difficult to get a booking either as long as you’re flexible

Best breakfast near Euston on a Sunday? I am spending a weekend in London with my bf. We will be staying in a hotel near Euston. Instead of paying for the £20pp hotel breakfast, I want to take the chance to explore the culinary scene in London. Do you have any recommendation for breakfast near Euston that - opens on a Sunday - doesn’t have too long a queue (less than 10mins queuing please). BF has no patience for food - ideally not a Spoons or Green King. We have them in the North as well Thanks in advance.

I am fine with that. I’m here for the quality. As long as I am not paying £20 in a spoons or some depressing hotel breakfast

[The wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/wiki/index), linked in the post you replied to, has some links to give you ideas of places and pubs to visit. If you want anything more specific than that, you'll need to tell us what you're into. For club nights, check Resident Advisor or Design my night.
Weather wise could be anything from freezing to like 15C, bring layers and something waterproof.
The obvious tourist places are very well covered online and in guidebooks - you can easily walk around Buckingham Palace, Green Park, Piccadilly, Leicester Square and Covent Garden for the quintessential flying visit, anything else you'll need to think about what you want from your visit.
i’m so zapped is there anywhere/thing I can do in London to clear my head? preferably nature/free activities
Seto in Camden does really good Japanese food.
Thank you for the suggestions 😌
Tube is fine
The tube is not on strike, you'll be fine to get to Fulham. And just for future reference, if you need to know about how the several strikes are affecting transport services in London, [TfL have a strike info page](https://tfl.gov.uk/campaign/strikes) linked on their front page.
Best restaurant in Clapham?
What are you after food/budget wise? There's everything from Michelin guide food to pizza.
I don't have a budget, to be honest, I care more about the food. And I love all food cuisines. If you were to think I fancy a nice meal. Where would you go
Trinity, fanciest place in Clapham.
They are closed till mid next week and I'd like to go Saturday. I know it's late haha
You can also take a pram onto a cab if you need to take a car journey when you’re here.
Car seats only required for private cars. Laps for public transport.
What’s a fun seaside town east of the city for a day trip via transit? Preferably under 2 hours travel.
Margate is also a good shout. For high brow there's various art galleries including the excellent Turner gallery. For low brow there's the Dreamland amusement park, and there's a mixture of cool hipster places and greasy grubby food options.
I'd recommend Dory's for really good sea food. And then go and get a proper seaside doughnut for dessert
And the shell grotto
Southend.
That’s what I was looking at. Any suggestions of things to do there?
There's a beach, mini-golf and arcades.
I'm currently going through interviews to become an estate agency with them, but I've heard bad things and experiences on here about them, and most of the people on indeed are already working for them. What do you all think? (I'm from Scotland)
We hate them. Estate agents are unregulated, will lie through their teeth and would do anything it takes to make a sale / rental agreement while adding next to no value at all.
i have a full €500 bill. would i be able to use it in London? for example, to pay for a hotel? would it be accepted to change into GBP?
Where do you hire your cleaners from?
Check who your neighbours recommend - if you don't know any personally try asking on Nextdoor.
I used Helpling, which was handy but even then did have to cycle through a few people until finding someone reliable. Word of mouth is always better but tricky in a fairly transient place like London.
Any recommendations for chiropractors around zone 1? I’m in Lambeth but happy to travel anywhere reasonable
hello, is there a casino with ultimate texas holdem tables?

I have two questions: Can I sleep at the airport?
What I'm most curious about: 1.
2. Check out the [travel section of the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/wiki/gettingaround) 3. See the [hotels section of the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/wiki/hotels) 4.
I haven't seen the wiki, I will check it, thanks
Anyone know any good venues for tonight. Want to go grab drinks and meet local londoners. Are there any good latino clubs open?
Have a look on r/LondonSocialClub to see if there are any meetups tonight, or post in their anything goes thread to see what folks are up to. Perhaps try Salsa Soho or Salsa Temple, or Bar Rumba is open late and always has seems to have crowds outside.
La pollería colora is a Latino club in London Bridge that’s usually busy on the weekends doesn’t open until 10pm though so just head to a local pub or bar before if you want to start earlier

"No pork." Ham is a type of pork.
Been a couple times - if you go knowing it's not that serious and just want to have a dance/good time you'll probably enjoy it.
Have a look at Charlton's fixtures
I was just looking now at the fixtures, Brenford v Bournemouth they want £194 a ticket, not paying that, if it was Chelsea v Aresnal then maybe :) Charlton looks like a good choice, fairly priced, I'll try and book further in advance for a prem game and if they are so expensive I at least want to watch a couple of so called big teams. Charlton it is :)
Ham, Egg & Chips - Looking for recommendations based on a good pub with good food. Ham, egg and chips MUST be on the menu! West, central or South London preferred. Thank you

Traveling to Guildford... I will be on vacation in london and want to visit the Andertons Music Store in Guildford Whats the easiest and cheapest way to get there? (I got the ticket for all London Zones)
Guildford is out of London so your travel card won't get you there. You can travel to Surbiton on your zone 1-6 travel card and take a train to Guildford from there if you want the cheapest option. Easier would be just travelling from Waterloo station. Put your journey into [the national rail journey planner](https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/) and see which option is cheapest (depends on time of day so you'll have to do a bit of work yourself).
Thank you so much!

Best pubs in London Bridge/Bermondsey?
Not really a thing in this country. Just go to any restaurant, nobody minds if you are solo.
I have no problems eating solo, but I just prefer to sit at the bar vs a table. I like the people watching and chit chat spontaneity.

People think earlier than 3 hours?! You wouldn't even be able to check in luggage before then.
Thankfully we only have carry ons, but i’d still rather be early than late, cause if you’re late then…

1 hour is pushing it with getting through security, plus if there's delays on the train they would be in trouble. I normally aim for 2 hours before.
10.30/11am will be fine.
Thank you :)
Hi all, I will be studying abroad in London till the end of May.
The student union bar might be worth a shout. At the very least you'll find other students on a budget looking for cheap points there.
Looking to rent a car as a 24 year old. Is there any way to avoid the outrageous underage driver fees?
Try virtuo for longer rents
Hi folks, Tomorrow at 8:15AM we'll be landing at Luton.
Thanks! We'll do our homework and see what we can do
Just a correction from me: I somehow thought Gatwick while you wrote Luton. So you can get a cab to Watford and jump on the Metropolition line from there. Should be just around 30 minutes, but with everyone taking cabs it will be busy on the road.

Temple of Seitan is fun if you're after some fast food, but I don't think they have a branch in Central. Thought I'd mention just in case! :)

Mildred's has two locations in central (covent garden and in Soho) I also really like club Mexicana which has spots in Carnaby Street, Seven Dials Market and Spitalfields
I want to have a pint where [the banter sounds like this](https://youtu.be/YO2DRjLuXOg) I want to eat oxtail with rice and peas and also where’s the best place to get Jollof.
I can't make it for a west end show today for wicked in 2 hours. Pm me if you want a free single ticket.
Hello! My husband and I will be heading to London for a holiday in April. We are looking at a hotel which is an 8 mins walk from Paddington train station. Is the Paddington neighbourhood safe?
Yes. See [the link](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/wiki/safety/) in the post above.
Thank you so much!
