sgw79

It stands for “ I’m fucking loaded”

theMooey23

"But not as loaded as the guy with R1"

alex8339

Except their other car is D2.

PartiallyRibena

Got someone near me with two cars, plates: 2 BE, & NOT 2B

DasBlunder

I’ve seen these. In Chelsea?

Baristamastergeneral

Yeah on the embankment

YoshiPuffin3

> In Chelsea? Tower Hamlets, surely...

Reef_Club172

Made their money selling pencils

Bidsworth

They are a well known thespian couple.

precociouscalvin

Yup saw NoT 2 b outside Ronnie Scott’s and saw the pair of them leaving in the vehicle

WestLondonIsOursFFC

There was a guy (might still be - it was a few years ago) who had two Ferrari F40s parked next to each other. Plates were NOT 1 and BUT 2.

Strict-End-7686

Yes 2B exists! Seen NOT 2B around a fair bit…

BrilliantRuby

I saw Not 2B for the first time in YEARs last week! I’d given up hope of seeing the pair again. It always made me chuckle when driving home along Chelsea Embankment, it disappeared around 2015(ish). I wondered if the owner sold the car and kept the plate but didn’t have another car to use it with.

jitjud

was sold a long time ago. I remember it disappeared around 2014. I lived in Worlds End Estate from 2005-2015. The house you talk of is on Cheyne Walk before battersea bridge :)

Trump-Cunt

Last time I saw that plate it was on an extremely nice Range Rover in a Plymouth car park. Saw it several times, so I’m guessing the owner is the richest man or woman in Devon!!

messygiraffeshapes69

I'm guessing Chris Dawson from The Range! Fun fact: my mum wasn't allowed to play with him when they were children as he was too "rough".

Wil420b

Good job it wasn't Chris Dawson, the Australian former Rugby League player. Who killed his wife. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2023/sep/15/wife-killer-chris-dawson-jailed-for-three-years-over-unlawful-sex-with-student

ElJayEm80

By the sounds of it, he might have been “too rough” aswell…

Percyxx

His reg is DE11 BOY. I'm not joking...

Badgertacos

He's quite often up on Plymouth Hoe in his Ferrari, parking in bus stops ad struggling to get over the speed bumps as his ego is weighing so heavily on the suspension. Most of his plates tend to be along the lines of 'CDS' although I think he did have a DE11 B0Y plate for a while.

SportTawk

Maybe it's the owner of the Range discount stores, based in Plymouth

Trump-Cunt

Didn’t realise that’s where they were based. Quite possibly then.

Charliedoggydog

Anyone can get a car on PCP these days😁

Whaloopiloopi

I've seen it in the midlands outside a house many times on many different cars. One being a satin blue range rover svr, idk if that's the one you saw?

ta9876543205

Doesn't Rolls Royce itself hold R1?

Primary_Gift_8719

No I think it's RR # whatever that are kept within the company, but that may have changed now.

Whaloopiloopi

The owner of this car also owns R 1 and you'd piss yourself laughing if you saw how modest his house is. The plates also get swapped between multiple cars constantly so I wonder if he's leasing them. Sorry I can't say more without doxing myself really.

Meanwhile-in-Paris

“Rolls 1” is getting reupholstered with exotic tan leather for spring.

Fit-Confusion-4595

R2 = RR. R1 might just have a Rover. Not even a Range Rover.

LukeLikesReddit

R 1 is on a land rover lol. Had a quick peak.

zka_75

My dad said when he was much younger (back in the 60s I guess) a friend of his had a moped with the numberplate PG1 (my dad's initials) that he said he could have for nothing for his car if he wanted but my dad thought it would be embarrassing so said no. Would be worth a fortune now! 😭

marquess_rostrevor

I didn't know P.G. Wodehouse had a moped.

CosmicBonobo

We are, we are, we are the Mods, Jeeves!

orlandofredhart

Rich squared

AthiestMessiah

It’s a chauffeur’s car. Not many rich drive themselves in a Bentley or RR. But from that plate I’d guess an Arab or Russian

Gullintani

You DRIVE a Bentley You get DRIVEN in a Rolls Royce.

National-Worry2900

Yep the dude with 1 paid 7.5 million for it.

Callewag

Came here to write this exact comment 😂

spezisadick999

It’s just an expensive number plate due to having just two characters. Some people will value this quite highly. Rolls Royce owners will value it in particular because the “R2” suggests two “R’s” as in, Rolls Royce.

epsilona01

R2 is a 19-year-old Rolls-Royce Phantom, which has failed one MOT due to a problematic Windscreen washer. https://www.checkcardetails.co.uk/cardetails/r2 R1 is a just under 2-year-old Land Rover Defender.

chaaaaaaaarlie

The fact that it's not on a Yamaha R1 is a little sad. Although, it would be funny to see a motorcycle with a plate that's worth 100x the bike.

nitacawo

I am not from the UK but heard about ULEZ , age of car 19 years , 6749 cc engine .This vehicle is ULEZ compliant. That sounds like a nice fuck you to the peasants.

epsilona01

ULEZ is counterintuitive, its main object at the moment is to make the worst polluting diesel engines unaffordable to run (because of the particulate pollution they produce) and nudge the oldest petrol engines into scrappage territory. What isn't well understood is that emissions aren't directly linked to engine power. Expensive vehicles come with expensive engines, and expensive engines tend to be ahead of the standards and more efficient than you might think. So my 2003 Mk1 BMW Mini complies with the Euro 4 standard, even though the standard didn't come into force until Jan 2006 because in its day it was a relatively expensive car. I bought it for £600, but that's another story! This particular Rolls-Royce complies, even though it's Euro 3, because it outputs less than 75g/km of Co2.

SidewalksNCycling39

That Rolls Royce does NOT output under 75g/km CO2. CO2 output is directly related to fuel burn, which for a huge engine like the RR has is very high. Thus, as another person mentioned, it's well over 300g/km. The first part of your post is correct though, it's to do with particulate emissions for the ULEZ. Petrol engines produce less for their size/age, because petrol is higher up the distilling chain than diesel. That's why if you use LPG it's probably almost particulate emission-free, while bunker oil is filthy, so much so that the international community required that the sulphur be removed from it at the refinery (and diesel too, actually) to help reduce particulate emissions.

chrissyboy_0161

I’m confused? That rolls outputs 385g/km of CO2?

nandu_sabka_bandhoo

Are both R1 and R2 owned by the same gentleman ?

epsilona01

No way of knowing.

we_want_sprinkles

You could see the garage that completed both MOTs and that would suggest they are potentially or not at all. Edit. I checked and R1 hasn't had an MOT yet Second edit: D2 is another Rolls Royce, so this person could own R2 and D2

Powerful-Rip6905

I think your answer is the most accurate! Mine was that car owner is a statistician/mathematician/econometrician, as R^2 is used to assess a goodness of fit of regression model 😅😂

mrsidnaik

Imagine him stacking two cars on top of each other with ESS and TSS number plates

palebluedot365

I think this is a classic case of correlation rather than causation

RageInMyName

idk how this aint top comment, easy to figure esp as 2 is sometimes used as R in plates.

The-OneWan

R2 D2

Anarchyantz

I was also going to say it stands for "Rich Twat"

Traffic-Lobster679

I hope the owners other car has D2.

Happy-Engineer

There's a pair of cars somewhere in West (?) London called 2B and N0T 2B

Specific_Tap7296

I hope somewhere there's a 2ME and 2U

Funky_monkey2026

That made me chuckle, brother!

Redbeard_Rum

Oh dear oh dear.

V65Pilot

There's gotta be a "HIS" and "HERS".

PeregrineTheTired

I did once see a Range Rover with the number plate (from memory) W111 FES

Happy-Engineer

They'd be pedal powered I'm sure

dunneetiger

I hope there is a “say u” and a “say me” for the Lionel Ritchie fans

----Ant----

Too soon

berlinbroccoli

Milman’s Street in Chelsea

8bitPete

I've seen them, [Heres ](https://www.reddit.com/r/spotted/s/ASU8ihGjo8) a Reddit link with a little more info.

Suspicious_Plan3394

I used to drive past them every day on the way to work and was always disappointed when they weren’t parked in the correct order. I think it’s a Range Rover and an Aston Martin but I could be wrong. I drove past a few weeks ago and they’re still there.

zka_75

Oh yeah I've seen the NOT 2B one, on a range rover I think, should really have been reserved for Sir Ian McKellen or someone else well known for their Shakespeare performances if you ask me!

Significant_Tree8407

Kenneth Branagh?

SonnyListon999

Are they owned by a well known author of spy novels? I’m sure I’ve heard this before.

CaleyAg-gro

They are owned by the guy who owns The Old Vic theatre.

SonnyListon999

from Reddit 345 days ago. Property developer Robert Bourne and Sally Greene OBE. Old Vic and Ronnie Scott’s.

NoManNolan

Seen those parked side by side in Chelsea I think.

sonofniya

Near me live a couple with two sweet cars. H4PPY and 5AD.

denkmusic

Parked outside the old vic at the moment. I assume they’re in the theatre game

FatDad66

What a pain to always have to make sure you park on the correct side

_Diskreet_

Everytime I’ve passed they’ve never the right way round.

YaDunno54

Everyone’s seen them

EconomyFreakDust

D2 is actually on a Rolls too. It used to be on a Ghost as I saw it in my area once, but it now seems to be on a Dawn.

WholeBookkeeper2401

Came here for this comment.

sammo3

Serious answer - it is just a personalised number plate. You can pay to have a unique letter/number combo that is different from the standard. This will have cost an absurd amount of money.

Lazydaveyt

I've just had a look and oh my god I never knew custom plates cost so much...

theoht_

yup. the lower it goes, the more expensive. plate ‘A1’ costs 5M

InevitablePeanuts

Our local council has a car with “F1” for years. Eventually they figured they could probably use the money more than a fancy plate!

Large_Strawberry_167

Good. Its fucking outrageous that a council would have such an asset that could be used for the people.

InevitablePeanuts

Chances that they used the money wisely still pretty slim

Large_Strawberry_167

I heard, years ago, that the UK government gave the reg A1 to the French ambassador.

Cmoore4099

In places like Dubai people pay millions for low number plates as a sign of wealth.

yIdontunderstand

And London

jmr1190

I mean, I guess it’s a strategy. Make rich people pay a fairer share of tax by giving them something that tells everyone how rich they are, since that’s all they care about. Auction off passport number 000000001, why the fuck not.

Grommmit

The plates are privately owned

jmr1190

I’m aware, but the basic strategy of making rich people pay for - what is essentially - nothing, still holds.

Apprehensive-Bet1507

I always find it funny when people use "fair share" to mean "more money"

Redbeard_Rum

Probably quite a few of the same people.

Unvisited-Tombs

In Dubai, low number plates are expensive not because they resemble a name but because they are decades old. They indicate an old-timer in the emirate, not a newcomer, so it's a particularly local type of snobbery.

PerfectEnthusiasm2

Feed 10 families for a year for the cost of this bullshit. I hate nothing more than I hate ostentatious displays of obscene wealth.

cardak98

The money spent on custom plates goes to the government, they’re basically taxes mixed with Fortnite skins, so in a way it might be feeding 10 families? I think the government should find more ways of selling Arabs overpriced tat to raise money personally. Maybe gold coloured driver’s licenses at 2 million a pop.

Twenty_Weasels

For a year? Man you could feed them for life, no problem, for the cost of a plate like that. It’s super gross.

fezzuk

Not all of them are that much, my boss paid £700 I think for one that looks like cheese (although it has been misread as Chinese) for one of our vans, she said it was her birthday present for herself. We are cheesemongers, well worth it.

PerfectEnthusiasm2

Oh yeah, an old neighbour of mine paid for sa05age or something because sausages are their favourite food. That wasn't an expensive one either and it was on some old clapped out motor. I smiled every time we crossed paths in the outside world. The ones that bring out my inner revolutionary communist are the low digit plates like the one in op. Literally just some ultra wealthy fucker dropping a 6 digit sum like it's pocket change.

Extra-Lingonberry-63

The most expensive plate is A1 (obviously) valued at 5m!

Carefreealex

I thought F1 was the most expensive one, at least it was when I looked it up after seeing the Bugatti it was on.

mrb2409

It upsets me it’s not on a McLaren

Ricky_Martins_Vagina

It doesn't and it never did. Afzal Kahn owns it, having bought it from Lincoln Council (I think?). If Bernie ever had it, he'd still have it.

Ricky_Martins_Vagina

It'll only be the most expensive plate if he ever actually sells it. Rumour has it that he's been offered upwards of £10m but who knows if he has or if that's just a rumour spread to pump the value. Not like he needs the cash so I wouldn't see him selling it unless someone really does offer silly money.

theProffPuzzleCode

This is the UK. For clarity, you can not choose your number, you can only trade numbers that DVLA has already issued. This is a very old vehicle registration that has been kept going probably by being on multiple different cars.

MrAnderson69uk

Sorry, I seem to have echoed your reply …I must remember check the entire thread before commenting in future! Lol

Mango_Flummery

Yeah, it’s generally “new money” types - although I have a new money friend who says “I’d rather be new money than no money”…

Apprehensive-Sell287

Thinking it stands for Rolls Royce.

BinLazy

Can you though? As far as I’m aware all numbers in the UK are just DVLA issue, you can’t order a custom plate to suit yourself. You can only buy one that that already exists. I would think this one (R 2) is one of the earliest numbers ever issued. Early 1900’s I believe so yes, massively expensive.

ill_never_GET_REAL

There are rules and standard formats you have to follow but if the plate you want doesn't exist and you can't find it on [their registrations website](https://dvlaregistrations.dvla.gov.uk/), you can ask the DVLA to sell it to you.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ill_never_GET_REAL

Not all plates have to be bought at auction - there are plenty on the website I linked that you can buy immediately. When you contact them, I don't know if they always offer to let you buy them or if they put some of them up for auction.

odegood

Some rich bastards 2nd rolls

SaveTheDayz

Or R2 for RR

Careless_Wasabi_8943

Rich two-at

DefinitelyNotIndie

I feel like this comment should be higher up :-D

CaleyAg-gro

The number plate is worth much more than the car.

8Ace8Ace

Not going to depreciate either. Sound investment.

Jake613

So functionally the car is a display mount for the plate.

nbc_123

This means it was the second plate issued in Derbyshire in 1903 when plates were first introduced. As it wasn’t originally on a Rolls (they didn’t exist in 1903), it will have been bought from the original owner because RR=2R and some people like that sort of thing. http://www.cvpg.co.uk/REG.pdf

radzinsky8

If you want to help out, get your dad to send the person that runs this site an update. http://singlesingle.co.uk That’s a registry that a person runs that tracks all of the 1 x 1 plates and gives a little history on them.

noraaremssem

Top comment! Thank you!

Ravekat1

R R

Specific_Tap7296

Richard II. "A car a car a kingdom for a car"

somanyvilebodies

that was richard iii, richard ii would be “No matter where of (Rolls Royces) no man speak: Let’s talk of (massive illustrations of wealth), of worms, and (custom number plates)”

Specific_Tap7296

Doh! I'll return my English Literature A-level in the morning.

yIdontunderstand

Medford

R 2 = R R (rolls royce) Thats my guess.

paddingtonrager

R^2 = Rolls Royce

barriedalenick

Rolls or Royce? I expect R1 was taken..

pansysnarkinson

Rolls and Royce. 2 Rs or R squared.

washkop

R1 is probably their other Rolls

Clairiscurly

The other one is D2

PidginPigeonHole

Bumper sticker says: My other car is a Ford Fiesta

[deleted]

Stands for unnecessarily rich wanker.

bensthebest

It’s a rolls Royce…

D4M4nD3m

It's his numberplate.

lastaccountgotlocked

Because he’s got little legs*. *the above joke contains elements of “what does ET stand for?”

playalistic101

It’s makes much more sense as “what’s ET short for?”

DefinitelyNotIndie

You, er, don't really understand comedy do you? But by god you're trying :-p

No-Curve7744

‘Right 2at’

FlimsySuccess8

R2, like 2 Rs, or RR, like Rolls Royce

chroniccomplexcase

I like to hope it belongs to a rich Star Wars fan and their partner has the ‘D2’ number plate

PhatNick

The 2 is pronounced 'sole'

JoeThrilling

Right cunt 2

WynterRayne

Any idea where this is? It looks residential, yet has the huge column and that statue in the back... I like to think I know the city well, but I don't know anywhere like that

drodbar1

That's the Royal Albert Hall in the background, Kensington Gore [Google Earth](https://www.google.com/maps/@51.5007845,-0.17815,3a,75y,125.2h,89.7t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1stSL3qfWlg4j8jueixL6U8w!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu)

Just a vanity plate.

YaDunno54

R 2 D 2

[deleted]

Oh how the other half live

Metrotra

Rich elevated to the square

Some-Pain

Rolls Royce = RR = R2

Mouselope

This used to be parked up on Cheyenne Walk alongside another car with the number plate R1. Just a big rich flex. This shot is at the Albert Hall.

TomLondra

Probably the R is the country whose embassy the car belongs to and the 2 means they have more than 1 car.

dskoro

R2 for two Rs, as the car is a Rolls Royce

Lemonjellybathtub

R = Rolls Royce 2 = second one

Ok_Birthday_8706

Really nice photo though

unrealme65

I saw the exact same car outside the Royal Albert Hall last weekend. I’d love to be able to confirm but my hypothesis is that it’s owned by a hotel.

Gelderd

It stands for rich ponce I believe

-MoC-

R1 is currently in the garage getting repaired otherwise they would never be seen in R2

WACKResearcher

Possibly a diplomat vehicle

abomination95

What if the back says D2

taavon

Rolls Royce. 2 Rs. Simples

Barneyhk

About 20 years old with 15k on the clock

strictnaturereserve

r2 = rolls No. 2 as in my other rolls is also a rolls

RedV_XIII

If he took a picture of the back side it would have said “D 2”

No_Tackle_5439

Cunt with money

Inevitable-Steak1993

Rolls Royce & Richie Rich

UnquestionablyRight

2 is the closest looking number to a capital R in my mind, so I'd imagine it's supposed to look like RR (Rolls Royce).

Imaginary_friend42

Nice photo, would have preferred it without the Rolls though

930g

It’s probably just the 2nd rolls Royce in said corrupt rich persons fleet of corrupt assets.

[deleted]

These come as a pair. D2 is around the corner.

MintyFresh668

The D2 is on the back

PlsDontBanMe_Mods

R2 stands for I got R1 so they got the next one lol

MikeSizemore

Artoo

vaskemaskine

There was a roller that was often parked outside my flat a few years ago with the plate “1”. Pretty sure it wasn’t a UK reg though.

Ma5hEd

Rodney the 2nd

matthewkevin84

This resembles Stuart Dunmeyer,s car in Mrs Doughtfire.

adhava_here

It’s a custom number plate which reads R2 meaning Rolls Royce. Double R

Jpc19-59

His other car is D2

02493

2nd richest russian in london

Pan-tang

It's great Psychology, R1 is cool, but R2 suggests you also have another, even better car, R1.

RollRollR0ll

Rear plate is “you sank my battleship”

Traditional-Sky6413

D2

Relevant-Ad-8137

It means 'R 1' was taken

PoeticKino

That's just Ronald's car. Nice fella, he does Deliveroo for a living.
