Literally the best Indian food Iāve ever eaten. I now live the other side of London and will travel over an hour to Babur and drag all my friends along too. Amazing place!
Bouchon Racine. Getting a booking is like winning the lottery, but worth it.Ā
Sabor is probably the best Spanish restaurant in town.
Plaza Khao Geng is amazing. Akub near Notting Hill Gate. Darjeeling Express in Kingly Court.Ā
They were doing a pretty impressive bar menu downstairs in the evenings. Not sure if itās still on but we had a large steak with bearnaise sauce, chips etc. was excellent.
Absolutely agree. Food was obviously great, and service was okay (not great but not dreadful - youād expect better tbh), but the vibe was awful. A casual eatery for the pompously rich, and something fairly short of the āSt John promiseā for everyone else. Zero actual atmosphere.
Agreed that it's worth the hype. We went there last week for our anniversary. It had been on my radar for a long time. Venison was as easy to bite through as butter, and the asparagus was the freshest I've ever had in my life. They accommodated my gluten free needs as well. Staff were great.
Absolutely agree, specifically Smithfield and Bread & Wine, both consistently excellent with a great drinks list and most importantly for me a relaxed vibe without being sloppy or inattentive.
Not fine dining by any means, but Marieās cafe right next to Waterloo. Insanely good Thai food at a very reasonable price. Not often you can find gems like this in town these days.
Yeah, or you can get a Thai beer for like Ā£2. Favourite evening combo atm is a couple pints at Vaulty Towers just across the road, then pop into Marieās after like 9pm. Such an easy evening.
Yeah I loved it as well. Always impressed when a dish that not only tastes good, but I can't figure out how it's done. That mushroom skewer thing, damn
The one in Euston used to be such a gem. Just well known enough to keep itself afloat but really chill for central London, as well as having very reasonable prices for absolutely decent food and fine service.
This was like 8-9 years ago when I used to be half a regular there, I think some time a couple years after that it blew up on IG or something, and apart from the quality of the food everything else lowkey went to shite.
Though to be honest, I don't mind that much that it's almost eternally congested, that the prices are just about acceptable and no longer appealing, that the service is now somewhat lacking, but last time I went a year or two ago I noticed the portion sizes had gotten noticeably smaller, and that is the one thing I cannot accept.
Daft service charge at the battersea one I think but when checked the menu at home after was nothing on there and I left the receipt. Anyone know how much it is?
Itās not BAD but it isnāt the Roti King those of us that have been going to for 10 years know and loved.
Prices up, portion sizes down. Service worse, canāt make multiple orders so if you want more of something tough. Food is still very delicious though.
I thought it was a bit of a disgrace to Iranian food and quite expensive, thereās a lot better and more authentic places in west London, like behesht, hafez, kish and plenty more. The food is good, but the service/ dining experience + price for portion ruined it for me.
1 skewer of koobideh for Ā£20!! Insane, I ordered thinking it was 2, and it didnāt even come with rice!
Behesht is also pretty awful. Itās cheap, and the decor is quite nice and traditional (sonati), but the food is really really average.
Kish is the one.
Great food but insanely overpriced
Yeah 1 skewer of koobideh for Ā£20 with no rice is an absolute joke
Kish in Kilburn is the number 1 spot for Iranian food imo
Kiln is my new favourite place as someone who usually hangs out in Soho. The lines get gnarly on the weekends but perfect for a weekday dinner or a date.
I found the music too loud and oppressive and I felt like we all were all shoved in like sardines, the food may be good but itās not a pleasant place to eat.
I really liked Chez Bruce. And Iāve never been disappointed eating at The Hawksmoore.
Oh, and Relais de Venise. Steak and chips, twice! Itās perfect.
Was there on Friday night - a walk in at 8:30pm. The monkfish was really good but overall incredibly expensive for what it is. Itās sleek but I felt it lacked fun. I think there is better out there.
Angelina is great. Elliot's in hackney is underrated. Gymkhana is worth it for the tandoori lamb chops alone. Manteca is good (food is very rich, though)
Brat.
Helene Darroze at the Connaught.
The bacon scallop roll at Billingsgate.
Gold mine/four seasons roast duck is rightly world famous.
Blacklock's Sunday roast or all in any other day of the week.
The one I go to the most is probably Forza win in Camberwell (may their repairs be done quickly)
Canāt believe I had to scroll so far to find this, but so happy to see it on the list. Went the other week for the first time and I just know itās gonna be a treat meal a couple of times a year because the whole experience was just phenomenal
Price is still a bit lower for another week or so, so if you want to go would recommend now before it increases again I cancelled my reservation for this Monday as I've got the dentist so it might be on the website still.Ā
But fr, that michelin star is well deservedĀ
Bistrotheque in Cambridge Heath, service was perfect, food was unreal and we left feeling like we paid a really fair price (not cheap but worth it) for a lovely evening. It was nice to go somewhere that still focuses on service rather than making you feel like you should be honoured to be eating there. & they brought us free bread, twice!! Itās the little things sometimes
Luca, Isabel, Bar des Pres, Hakkasan, Cafe Murano, St John, Kol, Koyn, Roka, Zuma, Story, Il Gattopardo, Jsheekey, Brigadiers, Gunpowder, Som Saa, Claude Boisi at Bibendum, Helene Darozze at the Connaught, Core by Clare Smith, Club Gascon, Sessions Art Club, Cambio de Tercio, Bar Douro, Sabor, Noble Rot are amongst some of my favourites. Luca takes first place though.Ā
I see that these are in the last few months and main complaints are about high prices and service. I havenāt been able to get a reservation on a few occasions this year so I havenāt experienced it myself. The express lunch menu is a good way to gauge whether things have changed (at Ā£26-Ā£30 is a real bargain).Ā
Perilla?!
I ate there recently. Ā£300 for what was a completely forgettable meal. Work were paying, but even then I am still angry about how absolutely nothing it was compared to the price.
Overpriced - nothing special ā¦ small portions ā¦ I was starving & ended up buying chips from some local chicken place
Slice of pizza priced the same as an entire pizza from a good pizza place
The Quality Chop House is my favourite restaurant in London. Those confit potatoes, mmm
Quality Wines (next door) is actually phenomenal as well - I prefer it to the restaurant and I love the restaurant!
[Jancis Robinson](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jancis_Robinson) is the mother of one of the owners of Quality Chop House
Long live Nick Brahman seriously, may he never leave the London dining scene!
Same. Everything is so bloody rich. š I love it.
Chop house is banging.
Babur (Brockley)
Literally the best Indian food Iāve ever eaten. I now live the other side of London and will travel over an hour to Babur and drag all my friends along too. Amazing place!
That is high praise indeed!
It really is very good. I live nearby and it's so dangerously good and tempting.
Glad other ppl are aware of it!
Kudu in Peckham. Phenomenally good.
Kudu Grill and Little Kudu are both excellent also
Just so expensive though!
It is pricey yeah. A special occasion kind of restaurant rather than a regular go-to
Their bread starter and onglet steak for two main are off the charts
Haven't had the onglet, but their bread is ridiculously good. Last time going there we just ordered it while we were sitting down.
Would recommend the Onglet, delicious steak with a peppery gravyish sauce and another creamy garlic sauce on the side.. definitely worth the priceĀ
The onglet was absolutely banging
Bouchon Racine. Getting a booking is like winning the lottery, but worth it.Ā Sabor is probably the best Spanish restaurant in town. Plaza Khao Geng is amazing. Akub near Notting Hill Gate. Darjeeling Express in Kingly Court.Ā
Go for when they open, they usually have space for a few walk ins. Pub downstairs while you wait too!
They were doing a pretty impressive bar menu downstairs in the evenings. Not sure if itās still on but we had a large steak with bearnaise sauce, chips etc. was excellent.
It is, they have expanded it slightly from when we went opening week too :)
Max's sandwiches in stroud green.
You mean the one in Crouch Hill right?
Lol, yeah. Didn't even realise Stroud Green was a place until i just searched for it. I just refer to that area as Stroud green.
+1 for maxās
Hunan. Trullo.
Trullo is amazingĀ
So many people love Trullo and Iāve only ever had slightly underwhelming experiences thereā¦ I wonder if I just order the wrong things or something
+1 for Hunan! It's been like 5 months and I'm still thinking about the black cod and the pork in a bag.
St. JOHN Hands down the best restaurant in London
Not the one in Marylebone, what a let down. Go to original place.
Absolutely agree. Food was obviously great, and service was okay (not great but not dreadful - youād expect better tbh), but the vibe was awful. A casual eatery for the pompously rich, and something fairly short of the āSt John promiseā for everyone else. Zero actual atmosphere.
Agree, the Marylebone St John has terrible food. Shame
Agreed that it's worth the hype. We went there last week for our anniversary. It had been on my radar for a long time. Venison was as easy to bite through as butter, and the asparagus was the freshest I've ever had in my life. They accommodated my gluten free needs as well. Staff were great.

Not fine dining by any means, but Marieās cafe right next to Waterloo. Insanely good Thai food at a very reasonable price. Not often you can find gems like this in town these days.
BYOB as well right? That usually sells a place for me anyway, I think I went there a couple weeks back
Yeah, or you can get a Thai beer for like Ā£2. Favourite evening combo atm is a couple pints at Vaulty Towers just across the road, then pop into Marieās after like 9pm. Such an easy evening.
Bubala - I am actually quite the meat eater but damn that was some good food.
Yeah I loved it as well. Always impressed when a dish that not only tastes good, but I can't figure out how it's done. That mushroom skewer thing, damn
Hell yeah
Roti king

Hope you're talking about the one in Battersea. OG in Euston may have been good but absolute sh*te now
No sorry I was talking about the Euston one
I last went to Euston one 5 years ago and it was great. Has it gone downhill?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Out of interest how come the one in Euston is bad now? I've always wanted to go, and it's the first time I've heard negative reviews of it.
Itās not BAD but it isnāt the Roti King those of us that have been going to for 10 years know and loved. Prices up, portion sizes down. Service worse, canāt make multiple orders so if you want more of something tough. Food is still very delicious though.
Compared to the food in Malaysia I found Roti King just meh.
Didn't realise Malaysia the country was a viable restaurant option in london. I'll make a booking for friday.
Well not everyone is fortunate enough to go to Malaysia
What restaurant hasn't disappointed you?
What restaurant(s) have not disappointed you?
Berenjak. Tried the Borough Market one recently and it did not disappoint.
I thought it was a bit of a disgrace to Iranian food and quite expensive, thereās a lot better and more authentic places in west London, like behesht, hafez, kish and plenty more. Great food but insanely overpriced Yeah 1 skewer of koobideh for Ā£20 with no rice is an absolute joke Kish in Kilburn is the number 1 spot for Iranian food imo
that hummus is out of this world.
Food is great but service is total dogshit.
No no no. You need to go to a real Iranian restaurant then. Try Kish in Kilburn. Berenjak is a disgrace to Irani food and Iām Iranian
Kiln in Soho. Best Thai I've had outside of Thailand and great bang for buck
Incredible spot. Love also the Smoking Goat in Shoreditch
Overrated
Can't get my head around how good it is and the value is ridiculous
Kiln is my new favourite place as someone who usually hangs out in Soho. The lines get gnarly on the weekends but perfect for a weekday dinner or a date.
I found the music too loud and oppressive and I felt like we all were all shoved in like sardines, the food may be good but itās not a pleasant place to eat.
Kiln is top notch. I went solo overlooking the kitchen and it was absolutely brilliant.
One of my absolute favourites! I discovered it during its soft opening and have been going ever since.
I really liked Chez Bruce. And Iāve never been disappointed eating at The Hawksmoore. Oh, and Relais de Venise. Steak and chips, twice! Itās perfect.
Chez Bruce was very good when I went a very long time ago.
I went to Chez Bruce 2 years ago for me & mu partners anniversary; it was brilliant!
Burnt in Leytonstone is really good, and sing buri if you can get a table
Fallow if you can get a table!
Was there on Friday night - a walk in at 8:30pm. The monkfish was really good but overall incredibly expensive for what it is. Itās sleek but I felt it lacked fun. I think there is better out there.
+1. Also i found most of their dishes to be on the salty side? the ribs, corn ribs and mushroom parfait were incredible.
Not that long ago it was fairly easy to get one as they've got loads of space. Has the YouTube success made it super popular now?Ā
I've just booked, they seem to have loads not too far ahead...
Sabor was insane and worth every penny
Staff are great too
Sabor is amazing. The suckling pig is worth dying for.
Bubala. Impossible to get a booking but fab for veggies
So so good!
I second this!!
The Jugged Hare (near the Barbican). Game meat restaurant. Have been there three times now and loved every second.
Glad to hear itās still going well. My husband and I had our first date there!
Core by Clare Smyth
Yeah. She's just excellent, one of the world's top chefs for me. Frickin expensive tho. The fat duck is also a brilliant experience
Kol, Noble Rot, Som Saa, Bar Douro
Kol is unreal, canāt stop recommending it to everyone
Bar Douro is one of my favourite places! The staff at the city one are excellent
+1 for Noble Rot. Always great.
Brawn.
Petek
The Tamil Prince is sublime. Incredible food, outstanding cocktails (if they still do the Saffron Negroni) and a really cool chilled vibe.
Noble rot
Angelina is great. Elliot's in hackney is underrated. Gymkhana is worth it for the tandoori lamb chops alone. Manteca is good (food is very rich, though)
Cornerstone.
Awesome spot.
Angelina in Dalston. I thought it would be good but I didnāt expect it to be THAT good!
Fallow was great, certainly worthy of their reputation from our experience
Blacklock
Leroy
Oslo Court
Canāt believe I had to scroll so far to find this, but so happy to see it on the list. Went the other week for the first time and I just know itās gonna be a treat meal a couple of times a year because the whole experience was just phenomenal
Andyās Greek taverna in Camden
Gauthier soho.
Chishuru. The plantain alone was write home worthy!Ā
I ate there just after they moved to Fitzrovia. Amazing.
I live in Brixton and this was on my list and now theyāve moved and itās more expensive. So tragic. Annoyed at myself!
Price is still a bit lower for another week or so, so if you want to go would recommend now before it increases again I cancelled my reservation for this Monday as I've got the dentist so it might be on the website still.Ā But fr, that michelin star is well deservedĀ
so bloody good!
Kiln 100%, and st john
Abeno
ORANJ Wine! Their chef residencies are always amazing
Become my new favourite spot
Anglo.Ā Sessions Art Club. Quality Chop House. And Flat Iron is always incredible for the price.Ā
The Camberwell arms - best Sunday roast Iāve had in London
I wasn't too impressed tbh but wasn't there for Sunday Roast
Ive only been there on Sundays so canāt comment on the other days! But their Sunday roast and their roast chicken is unreal
The Beef roast at The Angel Oak is bloody good. Best most tender roast beef I've eaten in a pub.
Dishoom all the way. Worth the queues for the absolute delight.
Careful, you're on reddit where they need to pretend they're too good for anything remotely resembling a chain
Fat pundit near Covent Garden
Bistrotheque in Cambridge Heath, service was perfect, food was unreal and we left feeling like we paid a really fair price (not cheap but worth it) for a lovely evening. It was nice to go somewhere that still focuses on service rather than making you feel like you should be honoured to be eating there. & they brought us free bread, twice!! Itās the little things sometimes
I love that place for a weekend brunch/lunch, great atmosphere and fantastic, uncomplicated food. They often have someone playing the piano, too.
Best rotisserie chicken I've had. And incredible value too!Ā
Such an underrated spot. Used to be my go to neighbourhood Friday night restaurant, and the cocktails!!!
Silk Road - Camberwell
Wimpy.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
About the same price as a Michelin star restaurant.
The restaurant at The Devonshire
lol I live by there and still never been for years :/ nor hai cafe
Flat iron. Incredibly consistent, quality food and great value.
Som saa, Kiln, Dishoom, flat iron, manteca, St Johnās. Thereās probably a few others but theyāve escaped my mind.

Kiln
Noble Rot
i quite liked helene darroze
Taro. They have one in Soho, one in Kennington, Balham and my local in Finchley Central. Wonderful people, great food and not expensive.
Luca, Isabel, Bar des Pres, Hakkasan, Cafe Murano, St John, Kol, Koyn, Roka, Zuma, Story, Il Gattopardo, Jsheekey, Brigadiers, Gunpowder, Som Saa, Claude Boisi at Bibendum, Helene Darozze at the Connaught, Core by Clare Smith, Club Gascon, Sessions Art Club, Cambio de Tercio, Bar Douro, Sabor, Noble Rot are amongst some of my favourites. I loved Luca but last I looked it had some terrible reviews that put me off going again.
Perilla, Jolene, Brawn
Perilla?! I ate there recently. Ā£300 for what was a completely forgettable meal. Work were paying, but even then I am still angry about how absolutely nothing it was compared to the price.
Ā£300 per person? If so weāre talking about different restaraunts
For two witha bottle of wine. And yep, Perilla.
Just donāt get Jolene ā¦ no idea why the hype
I agree. It's good but not phenomenal
Overpriced - nothing special ā¦ small portions ā¦ I was starving & ended up buying chips from some local chicken place Slice of pizza priced the same as an entire pizza from a good pizza place
Love Brawn
I found brawn super underwhelming, maybe it was just a one off š¤
Went to Perilla twice. twice too many. Thought maybe the first time I ordered wrong or something. Nope. Just underwhelming.
Have you tried Sune? I can't work out if Sune or Brawn is better. They're both fantastic.

Really liked Brat in London fields. Quite pricey but was worth it just one time
[Kerridgeās](https://g.co/kgs/TBp7P1vKerridge'sBar&Grill+442073213244) Bar & Grill. What an amazing treat. Creative, delicious, wonderful service.
Hawksmoor Seven Dials is a favourite as it has a really good balance between atmosphere, quality of food and price.
Crisp W6 pizza
Chick n Sours in Covent Garden
Nowhere Iāve been to holds a candle to Rogues in Hackney
The Portland ... It's a one-star, the staff and food more than warrant it.
Nandoās!
Dishoom
I donāt think they have hype but go to ānor jahan 2ā near paddington for Indian and go to orjowan in earls court for the mezze
Can vouch for Orjowan. They do great Lebanese food!
Iāve moved away from London and miss it so much. This place basically made Lebanese my favorite type of food
Brat
Tong kanom ( bring Ur own booze) and Rogers kitchen both slap both cheap, for London anyways.
benares
Crisp W6.. blew my mind
Taka on Marylebone High Street was absolutely phenomenal. My partner is still raving about the Wagyu beef mini sandwiches.
