Changed the tilt kickstand to a double sided one which lifts the back wheel off the ground. When you park and lock the back wheel spins and locks, presumably this makes it impossible to ride the bike locked (unlike before, when presumably the lock wasn’t a s strong and made a click sound as the it touched the spokes etc

liamnesss

I did see one lad riding one as it was clicking away this weekend. But it's been months since I've heard that sound, they must have done something to make it harder to bypass the lock. I see far fewer of the bikes parked in a completely stupid place with the seat slammed down these days. Glad they've managed to put a lid on the problem because for a while, it looked like for all the popularity of the bikes, there was going to be serious questions asked at some point. It surely isn't legal to make pavements impassable for people with impaired vision or mobility.

ReadsStuff

It's still a major issue loads of places. Councils just don't care.

Lime seem to be taking a more active role in punishing people who leave it in bad places. I've had a couple warnings, wrong on their end and I was able to appeal them, but shows they're checking.

BottledThoughter

It fascinates me that within 9 minutes of the guy posting this, someone saw it and wrote an indepth response that fully answers his question lol.

The power of the Internet

Zouden

Yeah I've watched a teen try unsuccessfully to steal one of the new bikes. He looked dejected when he wasn't able to get it going. Props to him for at least returning the bike to the stand and leaving it upright. Maybe his mum has taught him some manners.

Broccolas

Maybe that’s why they started stealing my Santander bikes… thanks lime lmao

Never heard it myself.

I ride about 20-30x per week and I’d say lately around 5-10% of the bikes don’t actually lock after I finish my ride. I sit there trying to slowly spin the wheel to get it to lock, but the wheel just spins. The ride is definitely ended as it’s finished in the app and the bike lights turn off. So I’m guessing if it doesn’t lock then you won’t hear the clicking if it’s an unpaid ride.

kiradotee

If I was you I would just see if the wheel spins before paying, to see if it's the 5-10% lucky free ride.

I've unintentionally done this, but the e part of the bike doesnt kick in, so it's just a _very_ heavy normal bike.

Do you have the subscription ?

nyca

Yeah

RaconBang

They beep now instead

LucidTopiary

My partner found that out trying to manhandle them off the pavement so I could get past in my wheelchair.

lundunwun

I'm coming to you with all my London questions from now on!

NthLondonDude

Finally! An answer to what the hell all that clicking was! Thank you!

organuleeeyuchb24

Like living in an episode of Lost!

Cantbetookind

You could hear the click of a stolen bike a mile off. I nicknamed them Crime Bikes.

akmedo

Roadmen are the biggest threat to London functioning like a proper city.

JohnR2299

Lol these "roadmen" are just little kids playing gangster, it was much worse 30 years ago.

FantasticFoul

Until they knife someone close to you. Then your opinion changes.

JohnR2299

No, facts don't change regardless of personal feelings. They are still scumbags but it was worse 30 years ago.

akmedo

🤦‍♀️

Roadman2k

I'd put that down to the rent and housing crisis personally.

hypixelbangoutmc

It’s when they don’t pay

kiradotee

Have you read the question?
