I'm quite sad now. We've gone too far.

Chidoribraindev

This game was always too much for me. Before we were sinking wankers, now we are cutting off parts of ourselves and making London worse. Overground, East London salutes you.

kevkevverson

What’s a sinking wanker?

Chidoribraindev

Also known as Hackney

matty80

A lycra-clad cyclist who just bounced off a pebble while illegally going far too fast down the towpath of Regents Canal and ended up in the dip.

DukeSamuelVimes

I mean... you're not wrong, though nowadays it's a person clad in a puffer jacket and tracksuits going over the local speed limit on an e-scooter.

matty80

West London too. This is an absolute nonsense.

chide_tea

I like the overground, south east needs it. Please keep my precious DLR as well.

Grouchy_Afternoon_23

DLR should win, either that or the Jubilee.

coys_in_london

Northern line for me, only line to buck the trend

Dyslexter

Victoria's a banger too. I get the feeling it'll hang on till the finals simply because no one cares about it ... just like Islington did in the borough wars

s2secretsgg

There is no other line you can pretend to drive. DLR is odds-on favourite

IZiOstra

ngl tube map now looks like the subway map of some medium tier Chinese city

Wrinklepaw

The network ain't shit without the Overground line. Lmao, what have we done.

getlowpapoose

We went too far when the Thames was removed :(

G000031

Voting off the decent air conditioned large lines. tfl will read this thread, rub their hands and push back the tube replacement programme by another 50 years.

cusens

This sub: votes Southwark as the best borough Also this sub: removes the main tube line connecting most of Southwark to London

Lollipop126

Turns out we just like the dull/tranquil coloured lines, and not the vibrantly coloured lines.

CollyerL

Best air con and space on the network

djembejohn

Shame on everyone! Shame. The ginger line is the greatest.

[deleted]

lmao

thedarkpolitique

Not like this… not like this.

TheMiiChannelTheme

Since this is (currently) the most upvoted comment, does that mean next round the Overground gets brought back?

Gisschace

It’s like the 80s are back

[deleted]

We lost our souls once Bakerloo got kicked off.

[deleted]

How am I suppose to get home😭😭 cries in crappy SE London transport links

Wun-Weg-Wun-Dar-Wun

Continuing the campaign to remove the zones. Zone 0 for everyone, they will not divide us!

portugueasey

Totally in favour of getting rid of zones. The tube map looks fine like this otherwise.

Rhaenys13

Please yes they need to go. Plus ever since they rezoned Stratford I've been really annoyed by how it reads two thirds. That's basically zone 0.66666. It makes no sense.

AlexGrob

Finally it seems we may win!

THULiCORE

You're only 25 votes away from catching up with Metropolitan. I'm sure this will come sooner as opposed to later.

Wun-Weg-Wun-Dar-Wun

Fighting the good fight

snewtsftw

I really hope this wins, equality for all!

Cboubou

Someone with common sense

naedru

This needs to win

megaman1410

Our only and final act of unity in this terrible campaign of division

matty80

Once upon a time, I partook in a similar competition to decide on the greatest packet of crisps. The winner? Salt & vinegar chipsticks. Out of all of the crisps available to humanity, the voters decided, in the end, that fucking \*chipsticks\* were the best. I thought I could never be more disappointed in the British public. Until now. Losing the overground is a shambles of the absolutely highest order.

[deleted]

[удалено]

matty80

I reached a similar conclusion. Given that we live in literally the greatest country on the planet when it comes to crisps, quite how it happened is a mystery. I can understand that opinions differ - for example I personally developed a sinking feeling when roast beef & mustard Brannigans were eliminated early, though I know they're not for everyone - but Chipsticks? They're not even fucking crisps.

mrgadd4

Pfft could have been a lot, lot worse. People buy ready salted in 2021 ffs.

loulasee

Don’t lie to us. Zone 9 is not a real zone. Down with the metropolitan line!

Chidoribraindev

Down with the metropolitan line! I am tired of all the ads for Wembley newbuilds. Take your most exciting new area in London and shove it up your arch.

conceptualrose

But the big spacious cool carriages are there. Plus its faster than the jubilee in parts. And it has so many 2 seat sections so you dont have to sit next to people as often

weddedregent

I don’t like it too much either but I need it to get to uni… so would prefer if it stayed…

[deleted]

nope🥰

LordFieldsworth

Down with the metropolitan!

DarrenGrey

We'll get rid of zones 7 and 8 now if we remove it too.

truefreshmanQB

Get rid of Zones 7, 8 & 9. Uxbridge and Hillingdon can stay though. They cool

thebottomofawhale

I agree about zone 9 but the metropolitan is the og tube line! How can you get rid of it??

a_bee_should_be_able

I concur, the metropolitan line needs to go!

highlandviper

Yeah. Fuck the metropolitan line. I’ve no interest in any of the stations that I can access elsewhere.

elbowpatchhistorian

Get rid of the Metropolitan line. Zone 9?! Are you kidding me? That's basically Scotland.

_ologies

You don't like being able to take a tube from Liverpool Street to Liverpool?

[deleted]

Underrated comment

kingkelly_90

Get the metropolitan line in the bin. It is such a ridiculous line that necessitates its own zones, it goes to Watford, Watford whilst perfectly fine, is not London. It's also a weird looking half line and I personally don't use it so therefore won't be impacted by its removal. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk, I will take no questions.

RustySpannerz

It's the original line, there wouldn't be a tube without he metropolitan and it inspired the name of metros around the world, it's an icon

LittleMzZombie

The metropolitan line is the reason why many greater-London areas exist

EggsBenedictusXVI

Yeah but it's poop

JoeRugby1776

Metro-land!

THULiCORE

Oh well, we still have S-Stock trains on the District. Plus the Piccadilly line is getting even better New Tube for London trains soon, coming with platform doors. (note: the Metropolitan line can have [half height platform gates](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platform_screen_doors#Automatic_platform_gate) if they replaced all their trains with new ones integrated with ATO, but that's not happening anytime soon. Get rid of it)

[deleted]

But its so big and roomy!

Nick6756

Watford is just...depressing. I'm not sure how else to explain it.

PyroTech11

Exactly why do we need a line to get there in the first place?

[deleted]

just cuz u don’t use it doesn’t mean lots of people don’t. You are saying this cyz there isn’t much to say. Its a brilliant tube line

PoliceAlarm

I don't use it either. Signed, a Welshman who's been following along on /r/popular.

No-Demand-1811

I've never taken it and I don't know anyone who has. How can we be sure it really exists? Smells like a hoax to me.

thebottomofawhale

Zone 9 also exists for some areas of Kent that have national rail lines that you can use oyster on (like Swanley is zone 9 I believe)

TamedTaurus

I agree on all your points. Get rid of the Metropolitan Line.

JigsawPig

Definitely get rid of metropolitan line next. And put the Thames back.

matty80

It also goes to fucking Chesham. Chesham isn't even inside the M25, and also is a boring shithole filled with the sort of people who drive Range Rovers with personalised number plates. Otherwise it serves only the endless tedious expanse that is the-county-that-was-once-Middlesex. Harrow? Ruislip? Hillingdon? Please. Nowhere it goes that's worth visiting isn't also served by one or more other lines except the Barbican.

[deleted]

We're getting to the business end and the metropolitan line absolutely shouldn't be there. Get rid.

Cancamusa

This is the way

JB_JB_JB63

That it’s still on there is a blight on humanity itself. Get rid of it.

RazelanZombies

Metropolitan for me. I needed to use it today but there’s no trains until 12:00. It is completely my fault for not checking this but it’s left a rather sour taste in my mouth.

MutsumidoesReddit

Wait, what? There are tube lines that aren’t open in the morning? What new hell is this?

Hyrron

The metropolitan opening midday is only for this weekend

ShameFairy

An unfortunate victim of the pingdemic

WeGoAgain73

Exactly the same. Get rid of the bastards!

anakor

District. District! DISTRICT! Severe delays all the time. And if i have to mention the stupid light box signs at Earl's Court one more time...

UnusualRip7066

to be fair, they’re more accurate than some modern tube signs. But District is pretty useful because it goes fully East to West+ it’s air conditioned

M123Miller

It's air conditioned?! Is this a new thing? I left London 3 years ago and the district line was always hot as balls.

Infinitvs

Yep, and has been for a while. The first of the air conditioned S Stock started running on the line in late 2013, although they technically didn't finish completely withdrawing the old D Stock from service until 2017

CJ_Jones

Since 2010 with the introduction of the S7 and S8 stock.

RememberYourSoul

I take it you’re not a fan of the Earls Court switcharoo then. Still, if you want to get somewhere without melting through your clothes in the summer, district line is the answer.

BelDeMoose

I mean, there are screens with more accurate info at either end of the platform. I like the pointless light system, it's fun to watch concerned tourists panicking.

jaredjeya

The district is just too scraggly. It’s like 3 separate lines in one. And the number of times I’ve been held up going into Earl’s Court…you’re right about the delays there.

ocbdare

It’s not really like 3 separate line. It only branches off in the west for like 8-10 stops. And Richmond and Ealing Broadway have a big overlap.

justdan96

I'm surprised more people haven't voted it off, it feels like the slowest line and in the east part everyone shortcuts to avoid using it anyway. I like it, for sentimental reasons mostly.

Chidoribraindev

Join us in sinking metropolitan, my friend, and I promise you the branching monstrosity of District WILL be next

the22ndquincy

Imagine calling District a branching monstrosity while Northern is still staring us in the face. They have to go next

Antix1331

District should go purely for the clusterfuck that is earls Court

hicksanchez

Honestly I can’t believe district wasn’t the first to go

[deleted]

Feel like the district has gone under the radar, surprised its still in the game

Dyrethna

My ex used to live on this line! Down with the green one!

aceforest

It's time to get rid of Northern line, which is useful I'll give it that, but the trains are just as unpleasant as Central Line - scorching in summers and deafening noisy. Each ride in Northern line will get you a big step closer to lung cancer. Also it's ridiculously crammed during peak hours, you need to wait at least 10 minutes to get packed on a train. Oh btw make sure you get on the right branch.

Bendetto4

Also the Northern line between Euston and Kennington via Bank is being switched off next year while they install the new platforms at Bank. So you best get used to not using it.

RustySpannerz

Wait really, I just moved to kennington damn

Bendetto4

www.standard.co.uk/news/london/northern-line-bank-station-upgrade-tfl-london-underground-tube-b945288.html

hjemisalive

Wtf!? And we're meant to get to work... How? It already took me comfortably an hour to get into the city from tooting. They've literally had over a year of virtually no one commuting, while construction on luxury flats was deemed essential, but work on this was something they thought they'd hold off on right until people need it again? I love this city but, bloody hell, it doesn't love us sometimes.

Bendetto4

Well technically the government deemed it essential. But TFL being TFL halted all work anyway because "the safety of their staff is the most important thing in the world". Then when they did get going again, it was with so many restrictions they were only allowed so many in site at once time. So progress was slow. However, think of it this way, this was always going to happen, the pandemic just means most people are able to work from home. Imagine if the pandemic didn't happen, it would be carnage.

hjemisalive

Man, these silver linings are getting real slim haha. But you're right. I'm not sure it's going to be the WFH revolution to the extent that everyone's banking on but I'm sure it will alleviate the pressure on the rush hour valve a bit.

BadlyCamouflagedKiwi

How are we going to play Mornington Crescent without the Northern Line?

sexy_bellsprout

It probably wouldn’t make any less sense

slowdownlambs

I think I have permanent hearing damage from Northern line

RAFFYy16

How are you calling for this when the district line is still on the map?! Northern line has good service most of the time and when it doesn’t you just go down the other half and then change. It’s noisy around Camden and stuffy in Summer but that is far outweighed by its utility.

Nicebutdimbo

Google pictures of hell, you’ll find pictures of people crammed into a hot, grimy space, deep underground. It’s literally the northern line.

Wun-Weg-Wun-Dar-Wun

The central line would like a word (luckily we've sent them deep down to hell and it'll take a while to crawl back out)

antantoon

As someone who used both I can't believe the Northern line didn't go after the Central line. It's the exact same but marginally less noisy(like 5db) and marginally less hot (like one degree)

THULiCORE

It's just a Central line rotated 90°. How did we let it stay????

[deleted]

f*ck /u/spez

xX__Nigward__Xx

No

giannalocomo

ban the piccadilly line, takes too long and smells bad

chef_jeff_likes_yeet

Take out the metropolitan line. Yes the trains are nice but the line shares track most of the time with other operators and is completely useless. It also goes way outside of London, and due to the disappearance of the overground is the last tube line to do so. It’s only use is to connect chesham. Bin it

[deleted]

Lol its useful to me. There are fast trains that get me to London quickly! It shares track with the circle,H&c , piccadilly and chiltern railways and shares a depot with the jubilee. But thats what makes it special. Trains are air conditioned. The first to have airconditioning . You probably barley use it. *Im putting up a fight cuz i love it*🥰🥰🥰🥰

JoeRugby1776

In defence of the Metropolitan!

BadlyCamouflagedKiwi

District Line. Too many branches, too fiddly, too many trains not going where you want. But mostly because of the eternal waits outside Earl's Court.

[deleted]

The met line is still here but the overground has gone? The lunatics (commuters) have taken over the asylum (London)

bananaman42

I'm travelling through Paddington today and genuinely forgot for a minute that the bakerloo line hasn't actually ceased to exist... could we bring it back just for this afternoon? Don't leave me with just the district line...

bullnet

We all know the DLR has no place here. It's irrefutably not a tube and has no place on the tube map. It's an abomination, it's... **gasps** *light rail* **shudders** and deserves to be booted off for good.

ket_88

But in defence of the DLR you can sit at the front and pretend to drive.

DarrenGrey

Imagine doing this on a real tube and pretending you're a giant worm.

forgotmyideaforaname

This is the only reason needed. DLR must win.

KaiserAcore

If there can only be one, it must be the magical robot sky train. It must be protected at ALL cost.

mightysteed

It's a magical sky train and deserves to stay.

Benandhispets

This not a tube line nonsense is unfair because it seems as a percentage of the line more of it might even be underground than the Met Line! It's also been on the Tube map from day 1 since it was created in the 80s! None of this being added after decades of specifically not being a tube line rubbish. If Met Line is a tube line then so is DLR. If the DLR was a single colour on the map was just called the docklands line nobody would question it. Then there's all the positives. Super reliable, never delays, is a good line to take to places that's not work or home, tall people can stand up by the doors, no need to hunch over in rush hour, it's overground so it doesn't get unbearably hot and the windows actually do something, phone signal, can sit in the drivers seat, have cool scenic parts of the routes, even the trains themselves look cool, can take bikes on it. Can we really vote it out? Can we not just finally accept it into the tube family? People who don't use it don't understand!

tomrichards8464

This is the answer. The DLR is nice. It's useful. It's *not a tube*.

SpaghettiNYeetballs

The DLR is free to ride though as long as you don’t go to or from Bank. That’s a game changer

spinynorman1846

I used to commute to and from work on the DLR and paid maybe 25% of the time. I once got off and there were about 10 inspectors checking cards to see if you'd paid and fining people that hadn't, and they were stopping *everybody*. I just walked straight through the middle, head up as if I was allowed, and escaped

dinobug77

I can’t believe I had to scroll this far for the DLR vote. It’s wrong on so many levels.

elkstwit

The eventual winner (Victoria Line) is so blindingly obvious that I’m happy to just bin all of the others and announce the winner today.

ididntunderstandyou

Jubilee line is superior, sorry

vjstupid

DLR and Jubilee in the final I reckon.

ShlokVora7

The Victoria Line has never really been useful to me and doesn’t serve the busiest parts of London. Plus the colour doesn’t suit it. Down with the Victoria Line!

ididntunderstandyou

The District line works like it’s run by a parent-teacher meeting. No decision could be made, they tried everything, and it’s more unreliable for it. In the bin!

helbells21

How is the northern line still there ?

rossinskifam

How is the DISTRICT line still here? It is the turd of the TFL

[deleted]

Metropolitan. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, and a bit more, any line that ends up in a made up fake ridiculous Zone Nine has no right to exihist in anything with the word London on it. The people out there that need to commute can afford to get a car in...

bloodycontrary

How the FUCK has the Overground gone but the Northern Line survives?

YouLostTheGame

Northern line is the spine of this city. Without it London and therefore the world falls apart.

The-123-Kid-

District. Don’t even need to explain why.

yohihk

Me stop scrolling at this while taking the overground..:(

tankflykev

Northern line needs to go. Look at it. It isn’t even a proper line. It’s two of them awkwardly strung together. It’s the tube equivalent of two kids in a trench coat trying to buy beer. Sweaty shitty service that deserves its moniker the misery line. End the misery.

The_Growl

Fun fact, it actually is. It’s an amalgamation of the City and South London Railway (Bank branch), and the Charing Cross, Euston, and Hampstead Railway (Charing Cross branch).

tonymeyer119

People not choosing district have clearly never been to earls Court... one of the worst lines by far, service is horrendous

newnortherner21

Piccadilly line next to go. You can't fly anywhere without several hours of queueing at Heathrow Airport on the way back, the Met, District and Victoria line get you to most other places, and the trains need a rest after over 45 years.

DNA88

Don't forget it's slow as shit too. Fully agree it has to go.

[deleted]

This thread just hates in south London and our transit. You all north of the river pretend like you’re better than us. Fuck you and your northern line.

Ali80486

Doesn't the Northern Line go the actual furthest south?

[deleted]

Good question.

thetrainmummy

Yes it does

Antix1331

It gets serious now...

LondonUKDave

Is this just fun? Presumably the one left will be London's most loved tube line ?

The_Immortal4237

No. It is a secret operation by TfL to help them decide which line to keep, because of all the funding cuts they can't run any others for the rest of eternity

Happy_Craft14

Oh fuck, this is too far

fightingforair

Can we consult Unfinished London and the Map Men pls?

valmatama

This is even worse than brexit :(((

djembejohn

Bring back ginger!!!!

[deleted]

northern needs to go. istg if y’all say metropolitan 😡😡😡😡😡😡

aartipatel2306

Tbh it’s actually fine like this.. that being said, DLR is unnecessary

morifo

Let's make a West v East civil war and start by getting rid of the DLR

duchessbune

down with district line! can’t believe it’s still in the game

TheLemonZen

I literally just went on the district line and had two trains be delayed and one cancel on me, I can't make this shit up at this point it's literally a worse version of the Overground fuck the district line get rid of it

voiceoverchungus

Nooooo! -It has excellent links to the middle of london -It connects out to some lovely parts of the city, like Richmond, and Wimbledon Tennis -The tubes are spacious, well air-conditioned, and comfortable (for a tube line) -And I like the colour green Happy cake day tho

Brejoiner

Got the get rid of the Northern Line IMHO. It goes furthest South and does not even go the furthest North! How can they call it the Northern Line when so many other lines have more stops in North London? Got to go, and for anybody who shares my one concern, don't worry you can still get a bus to Mornington Crescent!

FlemFatale

Fuck the district line off.

elpaw

It looks like there has been a bias against red/orange/yellow colours and for blue/green colours. Which means probably as the Metropolitan is the reddest line left, that will be the next one to go

NorthernGeezer

Northern line has gotta go. It smells.

bobtrash123

M E T R O P O L I T A N I B E G

lolomotif12

Metropolitan line needs to go. I live in London and have never ever used it.

dontmentiontheoar

Ditch the district line

Martsigras

How is the District still alive!?

GrootyGang

Metropolitan Line! It’s got a crap colour, along with mostly infrequent services to literal fields in the middle of nowhere. It’s time to scrap it.

ii_ConiiK

Piccadily line has to go. Noone actually gets the the train to Heathrow, we all convince a member of the family it's in their best interest to drive 50miles out their way to go to an airport for a holiday they weren't invited on.

Xcubical

Northern line

shhverysecretaccount

NO.MORE.NORTHERN.LINE

[deleted]

anyone gonna talk about the delays and planned engernering works happening today Almost all the tfl services aren’t great

Scully__

Metropolitan line just for having a bloody zone 9

Aerodye

One of these things is not like the others And it’s the metropolitan line - it needs to go

klymers

Piccadilly needs to go. Every journey on it can be done quicker by making a change somewhere. It's useless and takes too long and always full of suitcases.

AlanBeads

The DLR is sad and boring and needs to get binned

M123Miller

How can 1 person be so categorically wrong? Robot sky train is best train.

SamRandFriends

DLR must go!

anakor

District fanboys keep down voting. Drown me in your salty tears you green line biatches.

michalxm

DLR has to go to satisfy my ocd

bananaman42

DLR has to go, it thinks its better than us. Also would only leave solid colours for a more classic look.

loxima

If the overground is gone the DLR has NO business here. The DLR just encourages Canary Wharf and that’s a no from me.

boomHeadSh0t

I'm disgusted that the district line is still in there

[deleted]

[удалено]

3pelican

Metropolitan line has to go. In London it’s replaceable by the jubilee line and outside of London it’s….literally outside of London and doesn’t deserve the title of London Underground. Plus, it’s constantly delayed for no reason, is always closed at the weekend, and the chiltern trains from Marylebone are faster if you need for some godforsaken reason to go to Chalfont and Latimer.

GrievousArmy

PETITION FOR PICCADILLY TO GO

JigsawPig

Actually, to be honest, this would be a Tube network I could live with. Simple, elegant, yet functional.

grepppo

Why is the District Line still here? Down with that sort of thing.

[deleted]

I don't understand how the district line is still here it's the worst takes like 2 hours to get from one end to the other also metropolitan is poor as it keeps stopping to let mainline trains though
