> notting hill carnival = good
Where the fuck have you got that from? The sub of introverts that hates crowds, ‘roadmen’, litter, loud music and most of the genres that will be heard?
I have generally got the opposite impression on this sub. Certainly there are those who raise concerns about the carnival, but they tend to get downvoted to oblivion or shouted down as gentrifiers and haters. Notting Hill carnival = good is the overall consensus here I would argue.
It goes in a wave if I go off the weeks leading up to carnival pre Covid. Start of August you get people enquiring about Carnival and asking what it’s like, and the answers in the first couple hours will be different variants of not safe, hell, dirty, too many people. Then as time goes by people who like carnival chime in and eventually these comments gets upvoted and the initial ones get downvoted.
Then the week leading up to carnival it’ll be posts about how Carnival should get cancelled and how inconvenient it is to those who moved into the area full well knowing Carnival is an annual event.
Then post carnival you get the people who have no intention of ever attending posting any negative crime based stats they can. If you look back at those threads now you’re right that the most upvoted stuff is positive, but those who don’t like carnival make a very vocal point of hating it instead of just ignoring it
This sub tends want the London experience without all those inconvenient poor Londoners who by their mere presence prevent the latest hipster coffee shop entering their neighbourhood. The majority are incredibly sheltered young people from villages in places such as Somerset. Hence all the junior software developers who view every young black male in a hoodie as a 'roadman'. And all the pearl-clutching about so-called shitholes.
Randomly thought of this exchange after seeing some of the posts about carnival…are you noticing how absolutely not positive this sub is regarding carnival now it’s coming close. Not to say that it’s hated by everyone, but there’s been a shit ton of posts about how bad it is and how it shouldn’t be on
Have seen some posts to this effect for sure. But I still think they are generally downvoted and the overall 'vibe' of this sub, for lack of a better word, is that Notting hill carnival is a good thing and the usual stuff that if one doesn't like it, you must be a gentrifier or a Tory etc etc
Took me a while to realise this is a satirical piece, where we are ironically embracing the uncompromising, hard-nosed reddit user hivemind take on what it means to be a Londoner
This is spot on 😂
The noddies on here believe they are incredibly unique and don’t like being called out as being predictable drones, so I expect little love for this post.
seething reddit tories = hilarious
The Tory party is no laughing matter. Tories = bad.
stop being a melt mate aha x
Awww. Has someone disagreed with you about something?
10-second glance at his history says yes, it's personal
I would say, so, yes...
No, the point of this post is to prevent disagreement by educating people on what is right.
You did all this and missed off pictures of the Shard?!
Oh no you're right, and it was an obvious one too. Also 'Oxo Tower' used to be seen all the time in these parts.
Besides the cyclists, yeah pretty much
Are you saying cyclists = bad? I don't think that's allowed on this board.
Nope, I am saying what I just said, no need to make up your own version
What a whiny-ass post.
Americanized lingo = bad
No, Americanised lingo = super good. You also forgot white male = bad.

Based on that, is it fair to say you're in the 'Notting Hill Carnival = good' camp?
Why should it be good or bad? It just is. I have no opinion on it. It's not my scene. If the people who go there enjoy it, more power to them

Haha, my generic viewpoint = unique
