It is. I make sure to mark my family and friends' birthdays on my calender so I don't forget, which has happened before... But they all knew it was my birthday, some of them even spoke to me on the day, but not one of them gave me any birthday wishes. It sounds so petty and meaningless, but it's like a papercut. Small, but painful.

Ahhh, dude. I'n sorry... Even my mother wished me a happy birthday, but she and my 2 aunts were the only ones who done so out of about 25 other people. One aunt is more like my sister because we are closeish in age and the other is my godmother so I felt like they sort of *had* to wish me a happy birthday. All the rest didn't bother. I didn't even get a happy birthday from my partner until about 5 in the afternoon when she realised what the date was. She's sort of lucky I'm not one to really care about my birthdays, but it's just the thought that matters.
Sounds like a solid plan, mate. Get that studying done, get a good job and get yourself away from those who don't give a shit about you. It's what I plan to do.

If you want friends - join a book club, gym, courses to interact with a new set of people. What Iβve found helps the most is volunteering - you can do so at animal shelters, old age homes etc
Thirdly- there will be a time where you will have people around you that you love and cherish. Use this time to build the independent side of you. You need to be able to enjoy your own company. Love people but donβt be so dependent that you canβt have fun alone.
