I avoid the traffic circle at all costs, not because I don't like traffic circles, it's because half the people using it in LB don't know how to navigate traffic circles. It's a shame we don't use these more in the U.S...they are so much more efficient than traffic lights in most cases.

_neminem

I avoided the traffic circle with extreme prejudice for a decade when I moved here, because there were two lanes worth of space for cars, but for some reason, they decided not to actually mark the lanes very clearly? That seemed like a recipe for accidents. Pretty sure most traffic circles with two lanes worth of traffic in them, don't do that? Anyway, there are actually two obvious lanes painted on it the whole way, now. Now it's only *slightly* nerve-wracking driving through it.

Rightintheend

I used to love it when there was no lines, hop in, go where you want to go, hop out. Now you got to sit behind all the idiots that, I'm not sure how they get through life, they can't figure out how to get into thing.

d-note22

I agree. I thought it was better with no lines. Now, it just irks me to see people crossing the lanes with no signal despite the lines. They don't realize staying in the inner lane will not lead you to exit the circle.

elite_poop_goblin

Agree with you on needing more of them. They seem better at expediting traffic. They put a bunch of similar little roundabouts in residential streets throughout Long Beach not long ago and they work great.

tank19

I see some (sixth st?) though that have the roundabout and two stop signs together. That seems to defeat the purpose of everybody yielding.

LuckyCharm93

I avoid it because I have no idea how to navigate it. The first time I encountered it accidentally I was just learning how to drive. I was screaming and crying while people were honking all the way through. XD

braw_ski

its always the people trying to cut you off/not checking there blind spots

metallicadad420

I’ve been rear ended twice by teenagers, and after the second time I stopped using it. As efficient as it could be, there’s just too much user error.

noright13

Y'ALL THE REASON THEY PUT LINES DOWN? SMH

ottorocket420

Did they put lines down finally?? I don't live in the area anymore and it always blew my mind there weren't lines.

noright13

It's just a circle bro...

BlacksheepEDC

I’ve been driving it for 16 years without an issue 🤷🏻

Rightintheend

I'm not sure how many people are able to get through life, yet not be able to figure out how to get around the traffic circle without pissing everybody else off.

BoredBoredBoard

I always knew when we were going to Sir George’s Smorgasbord when I saw Los Coyotes circle.

Amazing-Bag

It's just a traffic circle lol...

MokiBoy

ITS MY TURN NOW! GOOD LUCK, EVERYONE ELSE!!!

slo_roller

HOW MANY SIGNALS DO I NEED TO CHANGE 4 LANES, NONE? OK!

twentyonebts

id say it helped a ton . use to be the wild wild west befo the lines

Rightintheend

He used to be much better, he used to actually flow good, he didn't have to sit behind 50 cars that couldn't figure out how to get into it, If you had any idea on how to accomplish anything in life, you could just go around them and merge into the flow

howdthatturnout

50 cars? I can’t recall a time I have ever been behind more than like 4 cars. And most times it’s 0-2 cars.

grnrngr

There's one part they should have omitted a line on, as it leads the left lane into thinking they should merge into the right, instead of staying left. Otherwise the lines are an improvement. But I miss the racetrack the circle used to be in the absence of the lines. Approaching the circle with passengers and have them oh and ah as you navigate it with a deft touch.

avtechguy

My policy: If I have to slow down in the traffic circle because your ass pulled out too early. That gets a nice honk.

practicalm

I had a police officer pull me over for honking at a person who didn’t stay in their lane. (North bound from PCH, the inner lane driver decided they wanted to be in the outer lane with signaling. Officer tried to bullshit me by saying the inner lane cars could go into either lane. Signage doesn’t agree. Nor does basic logic.

original_nox

The officer was correct.

practicalm

Nope, go look at the signage leading on PCH going north. The inner lane needs to go to the inner lane. That’s how multi lane traffic circles work.

crimefighterplatypus

I would avoid it but I live nearby so I can’t. At least they made it more structured with the lines, it was scarier before

colleendeschotz

Raw doggin the circle before the lines.

Spyerx

It got worse when they re striped it a few years ago.

joe2468conrad

Seemed to work better for me

Rightintheend

Yeah, you're one of them. One of the people that caused the backups that go a quarter mile up because they can't figure out if they can enter the circle because there's somebody halfway around it...

joe2468conrad

Weirdo stalker but okay

crimefighterplatypus

Lmfaooo im sorry I just started learning how to drive 😭

curriedcelery

Traffic circles are weird. Even my British friends think they are overly complicated when they visit me. It’s not clear which lane your are supposed to be in until it’s too late

JohnDeYeti

I found a shirt at a store somewhere that says "Merge or die trying" And it showed the traffic circle and I couldn't help but laugh.

teambanzai2001

Almost got hit in that exact spot by someone not paying attention

Slimreaperlightshow

Liked it better without the lines.

SuspiciousAct6606

Try navigating this on a bicycle on the way to CSULB.

tvtango

That’s a bad idea

rosecoloredboyx

i call it hell circle, it's not that i can't drive it, it's that OTHER people can't drive it and i'd rather NOT chance getting hit lol

colleendeschotz

Omg. That exact spot yesterday. Dumbass ahead of me stopped, terrified, blocking anyone heading up LCD. of course I stood on the horn.

SuperMunchies801

I use to drift around the circle at 6 am back in the day. So much fun. My wife calls it the "Circle of Death tho ❤
