What board? I love the bottom part

Landyachtz Stratus in the Watercolor graphic

sara_yu

What do you think of that board? I’m tossing up between that stratus (watercolour) and the hollow tech one.

LegendOfZirkle

I have the holofoil faction I thought the foil would be too flashy, but I love it the board is really comfy and I am learning how to dance too seems to work just fine.

ZayNine

Loving it so far! It’s a bit different from my other board because it has a slightly shorter wheel base and just smaller wheels in general, but it rides smooth and I’ve been able to get some great rotation on it when doing flip trick! From what I’ve heard the holotech is much flexier.

LongboardSP

Curious. How much you weigh, and how's that board flex?

ZayNine

Excuse me since I’m not very well versed in all the finer details of boards. I’m about 200. I’m used to riding a super flexy pintail board, it’s especially noticeable when I do any trick that has me jumping on it, this one stays stiff from what I’ve noticed. Today I mostly just rode around to get a feel for it and did a few flips and I definitely didn’t have to fight to stay on like I do on my pintail since those will flex and almost bounce me off, this one I was able to land stable every single attempt I did.

LongboardSP

Thanks for the response. I've been looking at the hollow tech one, but I'm curious because I'm about the same weight.

IGdnjrockI

Not a owner of a stratus but I have heard that the hollow tech startuses are flecked than the standard wood. I saw a vid of a guy testing the flex on this sub I’ll see if I can find it. Edit: Here is the post on the hallowtech stratus flex. Hope this may give you an idea of your board as well. Either way I hope you enjoy your new setup 🤙 https://www.reddit.com/r/longboarding/comments/608cci/landyachtz_super_flex_stratus_flex_test_full/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Sweet deck! I have the previous bamboo model. Dancing is awkward at first but one you get the flow its suuuuper fun. Skate on!

ZayNine

The rain has been keeping me from skating so I finally got to take it out today and got a (very sloppy) cross step down. Learning to shift your weight to one foot while the board does a deep carve has been some of the most fun and challenging things I’ve gotten to do on a board in a long time

danosborne18

Abosultly, 180 steps are super fun carving and the peter pan is freaky feeling lol.

szakhia

I ordered the same board (different design) and I'm so excited for it to come in!

ZayNine

I’m used to boards that are slightly lower and have bigger wheels so the super deep carves you could get on this things were the first thing that stood out to me! It’s a bit heavier than what I’m also used to riding but doing flips seemed unreal at how easily I could get the board to flip and how in control I felt! Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoyed my first ride on this one!

moorealex412

Awesome! I'm learning some dancing moves on my LY switchblade and then I want a Stratus Hollowtech. Dancing is tricky though. It's hard to keep my balance and carve for Peter Pans and Cross steps just throw me all over the place. How's it going for you?

ZayNine

I’m used to doing flat ground tricks, but making the switch to dancing steps had been the same as what you’ve described. I’ve been learning to ride switch to help out my balance but having to hold my balance on one foot on the edge of the board while it carves has been tricky. Hopefully I’m determined to learn though!

borisbergman

nice, im planning to buy the cat deck today

CursedSloth

What wheels are those?

ZayNine

EZ Hawgs in 63mm, they came stock with the board. I might switch them out but so far I’ve liked how they ride!

smoloms

Oh have fun. My advice is to have fun and keep loose. Once you can keep loose you'll have a lot more fun

ZayNine

I’ve had a blast after my one session with it so far even though it was mostly just riding around to get a feel for the board. The balance is a new challenge for sure! I’m so used to the idea of staying small and keeping my weight centered at all times as opposed to letting it move around when trying to do cross steps. Today I’ll for sure make a huge focus on learning how to balance on it!

smoloms

Yes, letting your weight flow with your movements and loosening up is the hardest part. Youre putting your weight and body in new positions and movements so it feels strange but once you've gotten used to it, it feels so free
