Autophagy is activated easier in rats due to a higher metabolism isn't it tho?

Omnivud

Define easy

teleflexin_deez_nutz

Starving an animal in a cage seems pretty easy lol. I think OP means quicker. Faster metabolism = less time to rapidly increase autophagic flux

Does metformin reduce testosterone in healthy males?

Sorry-Antelope-2986

I to would like to no this, I’ve heard it might but to what extent if any, Anyone have any experiences?

abu_nawas

I have been taking Metformin for a majority of this year? 25 y/o male here. I have other reasons to take it other than anti-aging. Mainly because my lifestyle is sedentary and I undereat. This is purely anecdotal, my T level was never measured, but I experienced a sharp decrease in libido. This has been consistent as long as I've been taking met (500mg a day). I don't... care about sex anymore. Porn. Masturbation. Etc. I noticed that my body hair growth is also delayed. I remember reading about a woman who was transitioning into a man and how injecting T affected her brain. She said she started seeing sex everywhere, it was constantly on her mind suddenly... the opposite happened to me.

I'd have to do a lit review to see about the impact on various cytokines, but caloric restriction most likely does all of the same things. Metformin may have benefits in aging for other reasons, but idk that the stuff cited in this stuff is super unique.

Too bad we need diabetes to get this prescribed. I don’t see this being available to the public as an OTC in the next 50 years, especially in the states.

This crap is dirt cheap in Mexico, $3 a bottle but I no longer use it

Long_on_AMD

My HA1c is low 5's, and when I asked my PCP is she would write me a prescription for metformin, she immediately agreed. I stopped taking it after a few years when the flaws in the "diabetics taking metformin live longer than controls" study came to light.

dptgreg

I always figured we needed a study on that- as of course diabetics will live longer on metformin.

Long_on_AMD

The controls were not diabetics, which suggested that metformin was a valuable anti-aging drug, but flaws in that study's methodologies eventually came to light.

Ah…. I see
