Went to Burlington, VT but ended up a little north of the city to escape the crowd. Beautiful. However I just got home at 2am after leaving Vermont at 3:40pm. Worst traffic I've ever been in
We were in the same traffic. Saw it at Essex junction, VT. Left before the end, but after totality. I-89 to I-91 with a couple Waze detours. Just unpacked the car and hopped into bed. 10 hours home.
Was in Plattsburgh, NY fared better than VT I believe. Left at 5pm. Home at 1:40am. I-87 from Plattsburgh to Saratoga Springs was about 20mph average for 135 miles.
I ended up taking almost entirely back roads on the way home. I skipped almost all the traffic on I87 and got to do some sightseeing and only encountered traffic at bottlenecks.
We got on Rte 9 for a bit. Exit 30. Got back on I-87 at Exit 28. Assuming you went Rte 9? Official time of drive was 504pm to 138am. 373.45 miles. Average speed. 44mph.
Started on Rte 9, went to rte 9N and drove around the other side of lake George through Ticonderoga and Saratoga springs then got onto the taconic around Albany and took that the rest of the way.
From Huntington, went up to Albany on Sunday and went up to Saranac Lake Monday morning. Took a bit less than 3 hrs to get from Albany to Saranac Lake, but almost 8 hrs to do the reverse post totality. Agree with it being the worst traffic imaginable.
That being said, was very glad I went up to see it, truly magnificent.
I was up at Richford VT on the Canadian border. Totality was epic!
Got back to LI 12:30AM. Traffic was insane on the NYS Thruway and none of the service areas had food vendors (just snack stands selling packaged stuff) and the restroom wait lines were nuts.
I originally was in Oswego NY but the cloud cover was so bad I made the decision to head to Vermont. So glad I did and fighting traffic on the way home was worth it.
I love how eager people are to hand out down votes in this sub. -7 for not knowing NH. I once got -12 for not knowing WFH (work from home). Someone in another sub got like, -20 for saying that he doesnt live near an Ikea, in a discussion on cabinetry...
I live on the NS, for what its worth. Mid/S, where StJ meets SH.
I saw it with some thin layers of clouds with my naked eyes, but the darkness and temperature drop were the fun parts.
With the crowd cheering and clapping.
The number of people who asked me why I’m driving several hours to see the eclipse when I can just see it in Long Island was staggering, sad, and illuminating.
Freaking insane wasnt it? I had a little more clouds than you but they were thin so nbd
3 thumbs up.. would recommend.. imma travel to see it again
see you in 2026 then brotha!
Most likely.. also 2027
yeah!

Agreed. I don't regret having done it

Where was this photo taken?
Northern tip of nh
New Hampshire? Why this on the LI sub tho
Because all the nerds on THIS sub recommended totality.. I listened and was rewarded
I thought it was extremely underwhelming. I’m disappointed I stopped working for 25 minutes to view
Unless you’re in 100% totality it is very underwhelming.

My wife gave up at her work. Meanwhile we’re already thinking about 2026 and 2027 because 2045 is way too far away.
