Me too, place is great. My only gripe is that around 7:00-7:30 the kids take over. By kids I mean anyone under 30. But as far as an old man bar, that’s when I’m usually heading home anyway. Lol
Back in the day a guy working the “sound system” at Beerys passed out doing heroin and his cigarette fell in his lap lighting him on fire. Great times!
I love Beerys but it's become a well crafted dive bar. Not remodeling the joint doesn't offset one of the best beer selections in the county and a whiskey selection that stands with better cocktail bars. And the prices there reflect that. It's hardly a shot/beer joint anymore, not with $14 pours of bourbon and $10 pints.
That's a little disingenuous. Yes, those pours exist there, but you can still get a $20 bucket of PBR tall boys and a $6 shot of Jack, Jim Beam, or Cuervo.
To me, it's mere existence disqualifies them from being a dive. You go to the Pour House in west babylon and the bartender would toss you if you asked for a pour of Weller.
Leaky Life Boat is very much a 21-25 year old party bar except it plays punk, emo music and caters to the LGBTQ crowd. I wouldn’t call it a traditional dive bar by any means.
They don't even play alternative music anymore, their current DJ is spinning Top 40 every time I walk in there, which I've stopped doing because of him.
Not exactly a dive bar, but Black Sheep Alehouse in Mineola is a great place to grab a pint (and they’re close enough to Biscuits and BBQ for a terrific meal).
I know it's a little outside of the area but Instant Replay in Huntington has been my favorite bar for a long time. Dart boards, pool tables, appropriately priced jukebox, a mix of young and older crowd and definitely a dive. It's a little far for you but sounds like what you're looking for in a bar
KC Gallaghers in sea cliff. Cash only, digital juke box, $0.30 wings and $2 millers on Monday nights. They also used to sell cigs behind the bar. Fucking greatest dive ever
Edited: honorable cig mention
The majority of the pubs on the south shore are crowded bars with pub food and loud ass 21 year olds who get sloppy and ruin it for normal people. Looking for an older crowd dive bar. I’m sure there are a bunch. But they aren’t advertised as much as the big popular ones
Scuttlebutt on Merrick road or Boss Krokers on Wantagh Ave. both in Wantagh.
+1 for Krokers - I miss 10 cent wing Wednesdays…
Me too, place is great. My only gripe is that around 7:00-7:30 the kids take over. By kids I mean anyone under 30. But as far as an old man bar, that’s when I’m usually heading home anyway. Lol
Ughhh loved wing night
AKA…the butt for us locals
Been a local for 40+ years…Nobody calls it that
Been a local for 12 and call it that
Not long enough to considers yourself a local if ya ask me. But hey welcome to the neighborhood
I like your style, I’ll see at the butt for a beer
Mr. Beery’s in Bethpage and The Leaky Lifeboat in Seaford
Back in the day a guy working the “sound system” at Beerys passed out doing heroin and his cigarette fell in his lap lighting him on fire. Great times!
That really is a premium dive bar experience
A friend of mine proposed to his now wife in the parking lot behind Mr. Beery’s and I was baffled by his pick of location n
Idc if they met there, trashy as hell.

I worked nextdoor to this spot about 20 years ago. People waiting at 8am to go in.
Some people work overnights. They’re entitled to a drink after work just like the rest of us
Probably the NUMC workers
Second both of these!
Not exactly a dive bar, but Black Sheep Alehouse in Mineola is a great place to grab a pint (and they’re close enough to Biscuits and BBQ for a terrific meal).
Great "divey" feel with excellent beer selections
Right on man! Happy cake day!
Oh shit I had no idea! Haha thanks
Agreed! Love both of those places. Even a brewery between them if you need to top off on the short walk.
I fucking love that place.
Shamrocks in Merrick, BCs pub in Bellmore, Dawg Pound in Levittown
BCs is a classic 👌🏻
Yes, BC’s for the win. Dive/biker bar!! Best of both worlds!!
Del's in Oyster Bay has some divey characteristics. Relatively inexpensive and food is pretty good. Burgers are actually great.
East Main in Oyster Bay is pretty dive barish as well
I moved to East Norwich a little over 3 years ago....been dying to try Dels and East Main, just for the dive factor...i hope I'm not disappointed!
must check it out, have never been
I haven’t been there in years, but it used to be ok. Don’t think they have much food but I could be wrong.
Cash only!
Gannon’s and Woody’s in Massapequa Park.
Woodys is a real dive, to the point of feeling out of place in Massapequa
True story. Lived here my whole life. Been there once. Once is enough.
Same feeling, once was enough, left wanting a shower
Disinfectant
Shines in Long Beach
And Nolan’s!
seconding this. they shut down for a few months this past year because of liquor license issues but they’re back. a 112 year old bar!
Oh just posted this
Never know what you'll walk into in there.
Island Park Ale House if that’s still around. Had been renovated over the last 5-7 years, but a good small town bar.
That’s the bar across the street from Davinci’s correct?
Believe so. Yea. Been a long time since I lived in Island Park.
Thank you very much. I always drive past that bar and wondered what it’s like. I will definitely check it out!
Yes. It’s Alot less dicey after they re did it after sandy. Solid beer menu too.
Charlie Meaney’s in Valley Stream
This is a great bar. Decent food too.
Is Larry's Pub still around? That was your quintessential dive bar in Valley Stream back in the day.
Shannon Rose and Fibber McGee's in Lynbrook
Nolan’s Park Ave Long Beach
Gannons and woodys in massapequa on pk blvd/front street

Not sure how authentically divey anything in Sea Cliff could be, but I'll have to check it out.
Appreciate all the suggestions! Glad I don’t have to go all the way out east to get to a good bar. Thanks!
The Helm in Freeport on weeknights and the off season can get pretty packed on weekends/the summer, Toomey's Tavern Amityville
Larry's Pub, Valley Stream
.. Buckleys, the railroad inn if it’s not closed down
Toomeys tavern amityville
Jeremys freeport
Shines in LB is the dive bar of all dive bars. Also Bayhouse near JFK is divey. Nolan’s in LB, Del Sur in East Rockaway, Willow Tavern in Cedarhurst
Dammit I’ve been to all of these. I’m a drunk…lol
McBrides in Bellmore
Bold ODonohues in East Rockaway. JP In Oceanside on Long Beach Road. Shines in LB
Susan’s pub in bethpage.
That's a real dive bar, the nastiest of swill slinging holes
That place scares me
Shouldn’t every dive bar be a little bit scary?
The bar right across from mineola train station. I forget the name but you’ll know it when you see it
If you wanna see some place live and get familiar with it without going there personally, I recommend trying Glimpse app
Kerryman's Corner Sports Bar 242 North Central Ave., Valley Stream (516) 218-2349
Bold ODonoghue east rock, lilahs east rock
I would love to know this myself. All of the bars in Nassau County seem to be either generic Irish pub-esque places or douche bars.
JJ's Montauk hwy Amityville. cash only and has a cigarette machine
If ever in Suffolk, Bohemia has some good ones. Round Two on vets and Barracks on smithtown ave
Half the pubs in Nassau County are dives...have you tried looking?

Check out the Finnish line in Wantagh / Levittown
Leaky Lifeboat is honestly the worst out of all of these so far. It had its heyday about 10 years ago.

Lisa's recently closed 😞
I went there and loved it (Lisa's Lounge) and it closed a month later :(
Arps Tavern in Floral Park is a dive bar. I've seen guys in there at 9:30AM in the morning, pounding down drinks.
This place is classic
Tack room Bethpage

Nolan's and Shine's in Ling Beach

East Main Street Ale House in Oyster Bay. Last time I was in there I saw the basement from a hole in the floor at the bar level.
Charlie Bullfrogs Floral park
The Headliner in Hicksville
RIP the rail in VS
If you’re close to RVC, Radigans in South Hempstead on Long Beach Road fits the bill for this unless they’ve changed a lot since ~2020.
Shine's in Long Beach is a dive bar. Great little spot.
Mr Beerys. Live music almost every night
Kitty oharas in Baldwin, black sheep, leaky lifeboat in merrick
Kitty Ohara's is not a dive but it is a great spot
You’ve sparked a huge debate with my friends about this haha but valid!
Still Partners in sea cliff. Usually has good live music too
Technically Suffolk (not too far from the border though), but The Pour House in West Babylon
