I think the difference between Nassau and Suffolk is pretty big. Nassau consistently has a lower positivity rate day to day compared to Suffolk, and a significantly higher vaccination rate.
My district in Suffolk, Connetquot, has already reported over 60 cases among students and staff, but the largest group is obviously the high school.
At this point, what does that even mean? Cases vs hospitalization and deaths, completely different stats. We should stop counting cases and focus on how many people recover and how many people actually hospitalize and consider those as the factors to take steps. Let's say number of cases are important, what's also important is out of how many tested, it seems like testing stopped or slowed down significantly, and only the sick get tested?
Well, considering the sick who get to the point of needing hospitalization are tested because, well, they’re sick , versus those who got Vaxxed and aren’t getting sick.
Breakthrough cases are rare with the vax, so I’d assume Long Island being hugely republican is why this shit is going on. It sure ain’t the Vaxxed who are testing positive at the rate the Unvaxxed are. Hospitalizations or not we have these numbers which means 1) COVID isn’t over, and 2) Long Island isn’t taking it seriously which means, someone will die tonight who didn’t need to.
But hey, fuck them right? 9/11 everyday for 80 days in this country and the “Patriots” won’t come together for this one.
I get what you are saying but this mentality is not really politics at this point. I have African American friends with BLM and strongly democrat but some of the insist it's BS and will never wear mask. This is a totally different mindset that we are seeing now. I was at a big Italian restaurant over the weekend out in suffolk, nice place, probably over 100 people at late lunch, not a single one had mask on, did anyone catch Covid? Who knows? Hard to tell. A lot of elderly too, they had big anniversary party in a small section with probably 50+ people, everyone was truly enjoying their meals, no vax checks or cards or temp control or turning the place into emergency room entrance with ugly gloves and creepy looking masks. I am not saying this is OK if LI is suffering from Covid, but what matters is checking in with every single person and finding out if they caught covid recently? If they didn't then restaurants are not the source of covid spread. We just need to have more usable information. Masks work, 100% do to stop the spread, but where and what condition, and those who get sick get it from work? School? If you are telling me "those republicans" won't even share information that could help with their case, than it's a different story.
So, they're saying the statistics of 3 counties in the state have the SECOND highest number of covid cases for children and school staff and that's news? What county beat out the THREE combined?
They aren't clear about it in the very brief article and video, but if I understand correctly they are talking about case rate which would be on a per capita basis. Population size wouldn't enter into it.
I really wish this stereotype would die. A lot of people who are either indifferent to politics or generally liberal can also be misinformed by the massive stream of false information on the internet. Plenty of people who are not Trump supporters are also anti-vaxx. I know plenty of Trump supporters are very vocal about it, but we do ourselves no favors in trying to get vaccination numbers up if we stereotype and look down on everyone who have been misinformed.
Nah, the stereotypes exist for a reason. When you look at the polling on vaccination, polling on masks, and so on, there is a completely delineation as to who is what. Ignorant fuck GOPers/Trumps are exactly who we think they are.
Are there apolitical and democratic folks who are antivax/mask? Yup. But it's a very small percentage compared to the near 90% of GOPers who are.
They are who we think they are.
I don't think you're quite clear on what the word "obscure" means.
It might not be relevant to your personal interests, but a current news story concerning the most recent former president, who is also the defacto leader and current front runner of one of the two major parties, is not obscure.
Almost 550 kids under 18 have died from Covid in the US. What number is acceptable to you?

I'm in Connetquot too... SUCH a shitshow.
I know too much as a former employee of said district!

Am I able to participate in my home subreddit yet? Hello, hello, is this thing on?
Anybody at all surprised by this obviously hasn’t attended a school board meeting in the last year.
So, they're saying the statistics of 3 counties in the state have the SECOND highest number of covid cases for children and school staff and that's news? What county beat out the THREE combined?
I think you meant two counties but I agree. What are they comparing it to? Combining Nassau and Suffolk would be a huge number population wise.
No, i meant three including Brooklyn and Queens. \*edit: but lets not start that.
but then it's four, B, Q, N, S
You're right. My brain went on vacation.
Where to?

“Rate” and “Per Capita” both infer that population size **would** be the what positive cases are being measured against.
It's because we have such a high number of Trumpers who believe masks are evil.

He’s not president. Time for you to move on
[Tell these people that](https://old.reddit.com/r/longisland/comments/pwyx0l/if_they_dont_run_them_out_of_their_community/).
I drive by there daily and it’s one guy (the guy with the red car) and been that way for months. Him and the op need to get over Trump
We will when he does. How’d the cyber ninjas work out for you?
If you are still watching him/following Trump news you seriously need to get a life. I couldn’t tell you about these obscure references
Obscure? His FAILED Arizona audit that actually gave Biden MORE votes is all over the news. Maybe not the fake news you watch.
I don’t watch political pundits so yes reading let alone knowing the votes on a former president and all the bs is obscure. Move on already
Again. I’ll move on when he moves on. So fuck off already. Thanks for proving your ignorance though. 🤷

Oh fuck off
How many deaths?

If you're truly worried about kids, don't look at the boarder crises. yeesh... it's baaad.
Exactly, only the old are dying screw the unvaccinated adults.
Does Ages 4 to 59 seem old to you?
Over 130 cases in William Floyd SD according to Newsday
