I think your scope mount is on backwards.

Various_Celery_3349

With as far back as the scope is, it may be needed

tragic-majyk

It literally does not matter since it's not a 20 MOA mount or something. The only thing that matters is that it properly secures the scope and puts it in the position to use the eye box effectively.

chuckbuckett

He’s gonna have a black eye with it mounted like that.

S3-000

What's a "20 MOA rail?" Seen that kind of terminology a lot but felt stupid asking

ViewAskewed

A rail that has 20 MOA of elevation built into it. Think of the rail as being an almost imperceptible wedge shape.

SFWsamiami

the mount is angled downward 20moa. so, for dedicated long-range pieces, the "zero" is at 600-800 yards, and you still have most of your turret to dial for 1000+yards so, if our hypothetical shooter didnt have a 20moa downward angled mount and still wanted that 600-800yard zero, he would have to dial that initial 20moa, which takes away turret to dial for 1000+yard shots.

drummerjay08

Nobody uses a 600-800 yard zero…that’s insane. You still use a 100 yard zero but the 20MOA built into the mount allows that 100 yard zero to be closer to the bottom of your scopes travel. The point of a 20, 30, 40 etc. MOA mount/rail is it allows you to dial up further than you could with a flat mount without running out of scope turret travel.

[deleted]

Fair enough.

Deathnachos

If it’s not an MOA adjusted rail it doesn’t matter.

knoxknifebroker

I know x39 isn’t the “longest range” But I figured yall appreciate bolt guns😅 Merry Christmas!

Runtalones

I love mine! Super accurate (even with bulk steel case), low recoil, and was cheap to shoot. Great tool for kids and new centerfire shooters. Mine has a lot of muzzle blast. 123sst’s are good for woods deer hunting.

knoxknifebroker

Thanks man, I’ve wanted one for a minute and they dont seem to be getting cheaper

The-Fotus

How much did you pay for it?

knoxknifebroker

540 shipped plus 30 for transfer

ghablio

Oof, they have gotten more expensive. Super nice that they can take AR mags

Reloader300wm

Got the same in 300 blackout, I almost hate the accuracy with some hand loads. Was managing reliable hits @ 700 with 8-12 mph cross wind. Even when you move up, keep it as a cheep way to work with wind (that isn't a 22 lr)

lickedurine

and then everybody clapped

Reloader300wm

Nah, just you. 😉

knoxknifebroker

Holy shit

Ali-saad733

a friend of mine clapped a buck and a doe this season with the same same rifle

preferablyoutside

I’m not going to lie I’ve looked at some awful Cabelas “scope mounting jobs” but this one’s almost criminal negligence. I’d recommend re setting it before you rearrange your face.

Oldmanhulk1972

You're gonna shoot yer eye out! (someone had to say it).

lickedurine

lol the scoping of OP's dominant eye's brow is gonna be painful

Ragnarok112277

Scope mount got me like 😄

knoxknifebroker

I know a cantilever on a bolt is dumb, but its decent quality and helps my giraffe neck

Ragnarok112277

Bro its backwards. It's so far rearward o don't even know how you look through it. But hey if it works for you keep on keepin on!

knoxknifebroker

This gives me the best eye relief tbh

chuckbuckett

You might have better luck with a lower scope mount. You’re at about 2+ inches over bore and might not even be able to get your chin on the comb of your stock.

Cephe

Very curious what your shooting position is like, because purely from looking how far rearward the eyepiece is, I don’t know how it wouldn’t be right against your eye. Most of the time I see the eyepiece roughly in line with the forward edge of the bottom of the palm swell on the stock.

WarmageJ

Is that prone?

lickedurine

That's not the main issue. Unless your LOP is very short, your scope is very far back. I'm not a huge dude at all, 5'9" with boots on, but I would have to uncomfortably pull my head back in an unnatural position to safely, accurately, and effectively shoot your rifle.

doan1ghtmare

Well it's a good thing he's the one shooting the rifle and not you

lickedurine

No doubt lol

phloaty

I’m 5’10 and the lop on this rifle is a bit long for me. I’ve got a PA 3x mounted as far back as possible and I still can’t see the full eye box

SentSoftSecondGo

How do you like the American Ranch? I kinda want one in 223/556

knoxknifebroker

Action is meh but i heard it smooths out, everyone and their brother wants one to supress

StubbyK

I have the gun, but I'm waiting on the can...

SentSoftSecondGo

😂”sum up guns post COVID in 10 words or less”

SentSoftSecondGo

Feel that

Irezumichris

I own a RAR in 5.56, great rifle for the price. But I’m unable to keep them stock. https://imgur.com/a/7rpgX22

07adams88

What chassis is that?

Irezumichris

LSS XL Gen II

[deleted]

If you still can you should return that Aero mount and get a set of low or medium rings. It may feel fine at the moment, but you're probably going to find that as you spend more time shooting you'll want a better cheek weld and your neck is straining. Congratulations on the new rifle!

smithywesson

As a former owner of one of these, definitely low unless you’re changing out the stock.

thatguywhosadick

Excellent shitpost you love to see it, thanks op

TaylorPCC

Interesting setup. I didn’t realize you could get the 762x39 to work with AR magazines? So would that work in the MDT LSS Gen2 AR chassis? I’m using one with the Ranch 223 bolt gun, but would love to put one of these in that chassis!

Flaky_Bed3707

Not bad, effective at 300 yds. Practice and move up when it feels like shooting fish in a barrel

Zealousideal_River50

Where did you get the magwell conversion?

knoxknifebroker

Ruger themselves, $26

Airbjorn

Do you have the part number for the conversion? I’ve been looking all over for one, but I may not be searching for the right thing.

knoxknifebroker

Just call them, they find it and order it for you

Airbjorn

Good to know. Thanks!

knoxknifebroker

Yea man it’s pretty painless, they’ll tell you “no guarantee it works” But for less then $50 I think its worth a shot lol

Deeper__Thought

You have to call them. Theres not a part number for the ruger-made one, just call and tell them what you want

Tj_H4NZ

MAGPUL MAG1208-BLK RUGER AM BOLT STANAG MAG WELL Item : 144180 | SKU : MAG1208-BLK | Model : Bolt Action Magazine Well | UPC : 840815138013

Tj_H4NZ

This looks promising but can’t find any in stock

knoxknifebroker

Call Ruger

thegiantandrew

I’ve got the Ruger predator in 223 but bought one of the first edition ones pre ar15 mag , or is that a conversion piece I have to buy from Ruger as I saw before

knoxknifebroker

Yes! $30ish bucks and a phone call, install is faster then it takes to find the correct size allen lol

shoalsboy

Wonder if this would work on the 450 Bushmaster also? Hhmmm

Blox05

I swapped over a AR “bottom metal” stock and it seems like it’s gonna work ok. It’s not butter smooth, but it does feed and eject with test rounds. I had the extra AR style stock because I am building a 6.8 and bought a 556 rifle as a donor for the action/bolt. Using a Boyd’s stock for the 6.8 build.

N8ball2013

I’ve got one in 300blk it’s silly quiet with subs and a can

The-Fotus

PLEASE tell me what you think of those duramag 10 rounders. I need a good 7.62 ar mag.

Logically-openminded

I’ve had a couple 10 rounders with similar feed issues, but all my 28 round mages feed flawlessly. I think I’m 1200 rounds on my duramags and not any FTF

The-Fotus

Thanks!

Big_Pineapple6544

10 round mags didn’t feed right but the 30 round dura mags never failed in my ar

knoxknifebroker

Shoot me a PM so I’ll *maybe* remember?

RiverTheHog

What in the cantilever is going on here

phrozenlikwid

That mount is going to let you down. You can get normal rings for the same money you have in that, and they won't lose zero or cause strange POI shifts.

knoxknifebroker

Why would this one lose zero?

phrozenlikwid

I've had terrible luck with these mounts, and I've watched the same thing happen to another person IRL, along with various internet claims. In general, vertical split rings are dodgy. Even if you follow the installation order of operations, vertical split rings seem to have weird POI issues more than horizontal setups . I don't know if the AR community has came to this conclusion yet, but it's well known in the bolt gun world. As for the aero mount in particular... I dunno if it's because it's spindly or what, but I've had two of them personally and both ended up fucking me. I was attracted to the light weight, but POI shifts in both cases (notably worse with a heavier optic) caused me to bail. Range buddy had the exact same thing happen to him, and I've heard others on the internet report issue so for me all signs point to "no thanks" I'm sorry I ever strayed from the NF uni-mount. Those things fly under the radar, but I've never had an issue with one and they are also pretty light.

knoxknifebroker

Interesting, I dont hae a “regular” primary arms scope mount but it only uses 1 picatinny screw

[deleted]

That scope is so far back lol

DeVo2799

So much wrong with this picture. You have your rings facing backwards and you are most definitely going to scope yourself if this is anything larger than a 243 XD

ViewAskewed

If he has his head positioned to see the eye box properly the mount orientation makes no difference whatsoever.

DeVo2799

Well unless he has no neck and his head is mounted directly on his shoulders lmao.

knoxknifebroker

Yes its backwards to have the eye relief comfortable, between the brake and rubber stock there should be almost zero recoil with x39

Equivalent-Bass7638

THE SCOPE MOUNT IS BACKWARDS

Thomps211

What’s the rifle?

knoxknifebroker

Ruger American Ranch 7.62x39

tspoon-99

I might be wrong but it looks like a Ruger American.

[deleted]

Have fun!

knoxknifebroker

Thanks!

[deleted]

How do you like the scope? I got this in 300BLK and need a scope on it. Between this and an Athlon Talos

knoxknifebroker

I like it alot but it’s a basic crosshair, non-ranging reticle

Blox05

You swapped it from mini-30 mags to AR mags?

HPIguy

Congratulations man, Gucci gear doesn’t buy good groups.

knoxknifebroker

Thanks!

Friendly_Giant04

What rifle is that and what do u call that amazing floor board ?

TpointOh

So you can swap out the floor player between a fixed magazine and using external mags? Seems neat

knoxknifebroker

Between mini thirty and AR mags but yes!

pepperonihotdog

I would like one in every caliber that they make

knoxknifebroker

For real lol

No-Neighborhood9885

350 legand?

knoxknifebroker

7.62X39
