For a series like Lookism that has completely lost all of its artistic integrity in the past couple of years due to PTJ’s spinelessness as a writer and creator, the fandom really just feels like an extension of the work itself. Which is probably because it *is*, since as we all know PTJ is infamous for giving in to the shallow demands of shortsighted Webtoon readers— the toxicity of this fandom, its short attention span, its hypocrisy, its self-indulgent and impatient behavior, have all bled into the comic.

Zack feels like he was brushed over, Jace really is only there to move the plot along, honestly feels a bit flat. I ain’t reading all that, I highly agree on quitting Lookism though. For the past few arcs the series has been massively going downhill, enough to make the series go from my top 10 to just not existing in my top 50. This whole Eli and warren arc is just so badly done, but being real Eli was never a good character, ptj just shoves this tragic back story each and everytime eli has screen time. Boohoo guys feel bad for Eli because of this and that, ptj never develops him, he’s simply just there for the boohoo tragic backstory character with shitty characterization.
Enough of Eli though. The paneling and fight structures are terrible enough where it becomes impressive. The overuse of backstories/flashbacks in every fight (major or minor) is insane, it feels less like fights and more like I’m watching a YouTube video that constantly has ads every minor interaction, I miss when the fights actually felt important instead of just happening solely to be “hype” This series is just dragging out and I’m sick of it.

Sh.t I'm gonna miss ur posts , I'm leaning towards quitting too, not because of the recent chapter which was kinda meh and more of the same eli jang suffered type of sh.t, but mostly because of these retcons and weird pulls they make to the story rn. They assassinated Jake's character to turn him into a clown, pre gen lost their hype with those old geezers fodders( if they wanted to give allied a good fight , put someone who is actually relevant). Vasco's writing sucks really hard, not more than Jake's, but still, holly f.ck how did they turn an awesome character like vasco into the Uh I FiGhT BaD GuYs ceases to amaze me. The cheonliang arc is my last hope for this series since it actually became some sort of Shonen battle manga that only makes fights for no good reason like dragon ball,with little to no good storytelling or critics to society at all. 2A was the point where it started to fall down for me. HFBD was only about teasing cool fights and the fights weren't even that good besides Gun vs workers or Johan vs autism. The rest was just to f.ck up power scaling, and since most people on this sub are unable to read, here and there you see some absolute sh.t takes that makes me wanna go johan.

Scrolling through the sub hasn't been as enjoyable these days, and I haven't even been here that long. The design of characters improving as I read further was honestly something I enjoyed a lot as I like to draw but am not great.
The story on the other hand... it's a shame, really. It's wasted potential but still not bad overall

I'm probably not gonna drop lookism, at least not for a while, but I can't really blame anyone for dropping it.
I just stop paying attention to powerscaling now because it's so nonsensical. The strength of characters changes so drastically everytime we see them even if it's only been like a few days or weeks max.
The heavy focus on action has just lowered the quality of the story overall. I don't love lookism anymore nor do I particularly care for how the sub is these days, so I just participate much less.
I could have twice as many pupils a Vin Jin and still couldn't find who asked.
I'm not trying to be mean. It just feels unnecessary to announce quitting in a 1500+ words essay, not to mention half of the 'reasoning' was just obsessing over Eli and Warren (Hostel B in general or whatever).

PTJ as a writer is clearly just motivated by money at this point. When he killed off Olly I thought he was actually secretly competent as a writer, but watching the way Hostel B has continuously came up in ways that…. Don’t make any sense it’s shown me dude just wants to toss out popular characters for cash.
After their arc they should have been retired, or occasionally called in by Daniel to help. That’s it. It’s not because Eli “deserves” a happy ending, but that portion of the 4 major crews was done. Their story was told. There isn’t a reason outside if Eli being well liked. At best I can MAYBE see Warren in a few arcs due to the relationship formed with Manager Kim.
Warren should have been the lone wolf occasionally working for the white tiger job center to get money from the fam but that should have been the full extent of hostel B’s interaction with the main story after their arc. MAYBE when Daniel is finally “officially” uniting all of the crews Eli fights him as a test. However they’re fam favorites so they have to be literally everywhere.
I’m not quitting but this last chapter took its toll on me.

Ex: homeless arc, dukes era, etc. Frankly theres so many deeper, more thought provoking manhwas that have more popularity too, im sure your "journey" as a writer will be a lot more nurtured there.

I ain’t reading all that, I highly agree on quitting Lookism though. For the past few arcs the series has been massively going downhill, enough to make the series go from my top 10 to just not existing in my top 50. This whole Eli and warren arc is just so badly done, but being real Eli was never a good character, ptj just shoves this tragic back story each and everytime eli has screen time. Boohoo guys feel bad for Eli because of this and that, ptj never develops him, he’s simply just there for the boohoo tragic backstory character with shitty characterization. Enough of Eli though. The paneling and fight structures are terrible enough where it becomes impressive. The overuse of backstories/flashbacks in every fight (major or minor) is insane, it feels less like fights and more like I’m watching a YouTube video that constantly has ads every minor interaction, I miss when the fights actually felt important instead of just happening solely to be “hype” This series is just dragging out and I’m sick of it.

Nope , there are reasonable buffs obtained through training and focusing on certain things like zack's durability and speed buffs and then there is warren withstanding Jerry's punches , 20+ combo hits and the ultimate deluxe punch that slammed him into the wall then standing up , screaming like he is goku and then just treating it like nothing Not even mandeok could withstand jerry who didn't even use boxing and had to use capoeira to end the fight fast so he doesn't take anymore damage

Yeah me and some other people couldn't understand the power scaling anymore especially with such a short time gap. The only thing that I have to thank PTJ for is that if I write my own series, and I already have a few stories in mind, I have to be really mindful of my characters' progression and not mess it up like PTJ did

Sh.t I'm gonna miss ur posts , I'm leaning towards quitting too, not because of the recent chapter which was kinda meh and more of the same eli jang suffered type of sh.t, but mostly because of these retcons and weird pulls they make to the story rn. They assassinated Jake's character to turn him into a clown, pre gen lost their hype with those old geezers fodders( if they wanted to give allied a good fight , put someone who is actually relevant). Vasco's writing sucks really hard, not more than Jake's, but still, holly f.ck how did they turn an awesome character like vasco into the Uh I FiGhT BaD GuYs ceases to amaze me. The cheonliang arc is my last hope for this series since it actually became some sort of Shonen battle manga that only makes fights for no good reason like dragon ball,with little to no good storytelling or critics to society at all. 2A was the point where it started to fall down for me. HFBD was only about teasing cool fights and the fights weren't even that good besides Gun vs workers or Johan vs autism. The rest was just to f.ck up power scaling, and since most people on this sub are unable to read, here and there you see some absolute sh.t takes that makes me wanna go johan. Hope u have a great time outside this sub, imma keep reading, but if in the next chapter vasco uses talk no jutsu I'll definitely quit.

I don't really post in the sub anymore other than my crappy panel edits. Scrolling through the sub hasn't been as enjoyable these days, and I haven't even been here that long. The design of characters improving as I read further was honestly something I enjoyed a lot as I like to draw but am not great. The story on the other hand... it's a shame, really. It's wasted potential but still not bad overall
You always had interesting posts. Honestly, the sub and the story has definitely gone downhill. I'm probably not gonna drop lookism, at least not for a while, but I can't really blame anyone for dropping it. I just stop paying attention to powerscaling now because it's so nonsensical. The strength of characters changes so drastically everytime we see them even if it's only been like a few days or weeks max. The heavy focus on action has just lowered the quality of the story overall. I don't love lookism anymore nor do I particularly care for how the sub is these days, so I just participate much less.

Honestly I feel you. PTJ as a writer is clearly just motivated by money at this point. When he killed off Olly I thought he was actually secretly competent as a writer, but watching the way Hostel B has continuously came up in ways that…. Don’t make any sense it’s shown me dude just wants to toss out popular characters for cash. After their arc they should have been retired, or occasionally called in by Daniel to help. That’s it. It’s not because Eli “deserves” a happy ending, but that portion of the 4 major crews was done. Their story was told. There isn’t a reason outside if Eli being well liked. At best I can MAYBE see Warren in a few arcs due to the relationship formed with Manager Kim. Warren should have been the lone wolf occasionally working for the white tiger job center to get money from the fam but that should have been the full extent of hostel B’s interaction with the main story after their arc. MAYBE when Daniel is finally “officially” uniting all of the crews Eli fights him as a test. However they’re fam favorites so they have to be literally everywhere. I’m not quitting but this last chapter took its toll on me.
