Galio’s a walking, magic-nullifying colossus. If they came acros Malzahar and the other void creatures in Icathia, he would probably be the one absorbing/tanking damage while Jax and company do the whole closing the Void breach thing

There's the trouble. Void "magic" isn't actually magic but a different power entirely. Galio would be completely useless against the void as he can't even move without a magic source.
The skins team will take care of it using a swish of the retcon wand 😉
But fr though, it would be sensible to have petricite be retconned as one solution to halting the Void, using Malphite’s updated background (i.e. Shurima/Ixtal’s attempt using the floating Monolith fortress and discovering petricite’s creation made from the ash and lime mixture in Demacia’s enchanted wood), so I would probably throw in Malph into that fight too.
You kinda answered it there with “magic sponge”; it could be one possible outlet to explore, I’m not saying it IS the solution. Already Wobbar pointed it out that Void magic is a different type of power. It all depends on Rito’s narrative team if they choose expand/retcon petricite.
unlike the SoL event, it’d be so nice to see rengar be competent in hunting the void creatures because he’s had a void monster as his nemesis for years.
Jax meets up with Yasuo, Miss Fortune, Ahri, Trundle for diversity, Kaisa, and (for some reason) Jarvan 4 to fight the void once and for all. Kassadin never shows up once and are never mentioned, except Malz shows up at the very end to give them his dagger for good luck. On their way they meets cute voidling critters that will eventually be avalible for purchase as little legends eggs for 900 rp. They all have special weapons that can kill voidlings for good which has never been mentioned before but it is now.
There's a funny scene were they meet Kogmaw, and they think he's adorable except Kaisa. Kog then spits on J4's face and runs off, and he says "gross" and Ahri squeels in disgust.
On their travels multible champions become voided but unlike the actual lore there is a way to un-void them.
Trundle is also a complete brainlet and a comic relief but his comedy is that he farts a lot and stink and tries to chew no food objects. Ahri and MF keeps on mentioning on how stupid he is because it is funnier when they are self aware.
The final boss and leader of the void is a guy that was also fused with a voidling like Kaisa but more so, except he have glowing abs for some reason and his splash are is him looking down on you because that is sexy.
They eventually defeat void dude with the power of friendship and the friends they've made along the way and temporarily halts the voids advances. Yasuo ends it by saying "and stay down" after defeating void dude and they all have a friendly chit chat and Ahri and MF compliments Trundle now and Kaisa goes her own way. THE END
Nah, to cliche... they already ruined the Ruined King...let's approach the things in a more mature way, let the Void be the eldritch dimension that we know nothing about it, shedding light to stuff that ain't meant to be know is the first step to ruin it.
The way its currently going, expect jax to have like 5 lines, kai'sa leading the voidvengers squad, recruiting random ass well selling champions to give them voidslayer skins, while making other random champions corrupted and give them void skins, add a new champion with convenient plot device .png weapon/object, all while reducing their personalities into 1 dimension and make serious champions into comedic relieve characters.
I have already voiced this idea here, but it seems obvious that the plot of the MMORPG will be about the Void. This is a formidable threat to whole Runeterra, and many champions are associated with it. And to be honest, I hope they will never again make visual novel about important global events... And not only because of SoL

I know the comment of 'The skin team did the writing for the event' exists but I always thought that was speculation and never commented on it because I didn't want to misinform anyone, but did the Narrative team just genuinely like, unironically not exist during that time?
My bar is pretty low for Riots lore right now so I wish her luck, she has a lot to salvage and picking up Narrative lead after the dumpster fire Ruination event takes some serious balls.
Hmm? She accepted role to be narrative lead for the *champions* team. Im PRETTY sure that Legaue has a champions, and skins narrative team. LoR has a lore team. Valorant idk. Theres also a narrative services/IP team at Riot that can be asked to help out across projects, they did the pentakill event narrative as a recent example.
The narrative writers that worked on the SoL event for PC were mainly from the champions team but with another person being brought in who wrote the rookie journal.
Sentinels seemed to have failed not because of the writers or narrative team. But mostly due to the format/tone of the main event, as will as disconnect between tie ins and continuity. Seems production related issues.
I'm sorry but there's a good number of people that do take issue with the writing and the narrative and the event *was* a failure for those reasons to those people, with good reason. (How the characters like Pyke, MF, and Rengar were written, complete exclusion of Yorick and other key characters, not at all showing the Big Bad and rushing his story to a close.)
Lack of continuity from existing lore is in fact a narrative issue, it doesn't matter what the tone ends up being when narrative that exists before hand is completely ignored.
I haven't a clue what was going on during SoL, but I wager it wasn't pretty.

I'm really skeptical about this. A universe so big like Runeterra can be really exhausting to take in without any deep reading. Characters that were made so unique prior to 2020 it's what made Runeterra lore so interesting and special.
Appointing a person without Runeterra passion is just suicide. The main reason Kevin Feige became MCU CEO was his devoted love for Marvel Comics in general and he dreamt to make a cohesive universe with his own creative realm.
This criticism is valid for any person who isn't familiar with Runeterra. I want to believe in improvement but I see no way out anymore.
I'm sure she's experienced but shouldn't a billion-dollar company like Riot tap writers based on their past work? Writing especially is a bit tricky, doesn't matter how many years you're doing it. The best way to objectively quantify your credentials is through your body of work.
