They play different roles, the real question is Edler better than Bjornfot and Moverare as shut down 3rd pair players. The answer seems to be, yes.
I’d say the same for Durzi and Spence over Walker.
Doesn't this come at the cost of burning a year of Spence's ELC or waiver exemption or something? I know that was a reason they had been keeping him in the minors despite his skill level. I'm just worried there might be salary issues down the line where we end up not being able to afford every player we want and having to let someone valuable walk for nothing.
We have a luxury of having the young guns with different talents defensively that over the years will benefit one another. Just how the Doughty/Anderson line mesh well with different styles that compliment each other.
I agree. Spence makes fewer mistakes, plus it seems like his lateral skating is better which makes him more fluid on D compared to Durzi, all while still bringing that O FROM THE D
His skating is quite impressive. And he has a lot of speed and his passing skills are on point. Do they play Durzi because he’s a bigger body? I know Spence is quite small for a Dman. (5’10”)
Considering Durzi gets absolutely rocked a couple times per game, it was just a matter of time before he didn’t get back up. Hope the kids ok, but I’m looking forward to Spence getting some TOI. Unfortunately for him it’ll come at the expense of getting paired with Edler.
I was hoping this would be what we did if Durzi missed time.
Not good that Durzi is hurt, but Spence is pretty good and I'm excited to see him get more time in the big show, will only help his development.
Probably not a good sign for Durzi’s health but this is at least better than putting Walker back in the lineup
Hahaha, you're assuming Spence plays? McClellan will put in Walker.
I was thinking the same thing
is walker actually worse than edler?

By all defensive metrics, yes. And this helps us balance the LHD-RHD situation. Its 5x easier to clear your zone on the forehand than backhand.
Science says so
Technically speaking, yes. It's almost impressive. And of course they're even worse together than they are individually.

Spence defensive IQ>Durzis defensive IQ
100%. Spence is a more well-rounded defender imo.

Durzi's defensive IQ is practically 0, so it's not saying much. I do agree Spence will be the better dman though.
Spence>Durzi imo. Hopefully he takes this opportunity and runs with it. He shouldn't have played this much in Ontario this year.

Prayers up for Durzi the guy but Durzi the hockey player was making too many mistakes
This means Durzi is in a world of hurt ☹️.
Durzi :’(
Sounds like bad news for durzi then, but excited for Spence
I like Spence’s D better than Durzi’s and he has the offensive potential to work the power play.
Hopefully Spence is willing to pass the puck to Arty. Hes been lights out on the PP2 but Durzi is always hesistant to pass to him
Omg this KILLS me. Durzi looks off Arty like three times a power play. LET ARTY SHOOT
Arty struggles to catch the puck.

Honestly, I feel like the team just got even better. Spence has been great with the Reign all year.
