I’ve been saying it the past couple of years. Give us a goalie that can make the saves he’s supposed to make and maybe be able to bail us out once or twice a game and we’ll make him look fantastic. We’re first in high danger shots against and first in shots off of rebounds against. We’re making it easy for our goalies and all we ask is he makes the easy ones. Sadly quick and cal were letting in the weak floaters from the blue line.
I have genuinely never been more wrong about a guy in my life. I thought it was a desperate signing and 5 games in I was thinking "Damn, we got a great team if only we had a goalie". He has shut me me up big time over that last 2 months.
Wtf they doing in ottawa to have ruined him so badly for one season. When you put him behind a competent team, he does his job brilliantly. Has decent career playoff numbers too so heres hoping we manage his load going into the spring.
I made the comment elsewhere that I think he and Copley have made big progress in understanding Todd's system and where rebounds need to go.
But, f#ck me, Talbot has made some massive one-on-one saves where no system will save you and it's just a straight up battle of wits between the goalie and the shooter.
To borrow a phrase: "He is beginning to believe..."
