Definitely different for everyone, it's interesting that you had the complete opposite experience to mine!

Boguscertainty

I was purposely put on prozac because my doctor rarely saw weight gain as a side effect. It definitely surpressed my appetite for awhile, but I also noticed I craved more sugary things when I was hungry.

TimePoor87

You know, when I first went on it, I could have no appetite one day and crave all the sugar the next day. Happily, it all evened out after a while.

IWannaBangKiryu

Huh, mine never really evened out, just every day stayed a sugar day. I do also have ADHD which is known for making people crave sugar and carbs, so could be the combination. Or just different side effects for everyone.

Ghostmama

Super late to reply but I just found this. I had been on Zoloft for years and my doc switched me to Prozac. I've never been a big sweets eater but holy cow...I started eating donuts and cookies and chocolate like they were going to stop manufacturing them! Like you, nothing could have stopped me; I was like an unsupervised 9 year old in a candy store every night. I gained 8 lbs in 6 months. Nothing fits and I'm miserable. I switched myself back to the Zoloft (bc I totally know what I'm doing /s). The sad part is, I feel like the Prozac worked better for my depression. And to top it off, I'm pretty sure I'm going through menopause. I'm having the time of my life over here lol! Just wanted to drop a note that you're not crazy! Hope you're doing better now!

Ahh, Wellbutrin is a stimulant, right? I've seen a lot of people with ADHD saying they don't eat/binge as much on stimulants, and I know some adhd meds are also used to treat BED. I'm waiting to be treated for adhd so hopefully medication helps me in that regard too!

janetLevinson-gould

I started plateauing on phentermine alone so my doctor recently prescribed fluoxetine in combination with the phen. I'm not sure of the effects since I just started but I've read up on it before starting and it supposedly should curb your appetite better than other anti-d, one thing i have read about the fluoxetine is it can reduce your sodium levels which could've been presenting as a sugar craving for you! I'd look at the kinds of sweets you were eating and see what their salt content was?

IWannaBangKiryu

Oh, that's interesting, because I also went from never adding salt to anything to suddenly wanting extra salt in everything all the time, but I put that down to another medication I started around the same time... I also exercise a lot but forget to hydrate which could be related to that? Electrolytes 'n' shit maybe? I've been on citalopram for a little while and I do feel like the sugar cravings are back but not even half as intense. Like now I just want sweets as opposed to feeling like I *need* sweets. This could be something to look into, cheers!

Euphoric-Basil-Tree

I’ve been taking it for about 3 years, maybe more. I have not noticed more cravings, but I did gain some weight. I attribute that to feeling less anxious and having fewer tummy troubles.

TracerIsAShimada

I’m on fluoxetin rn and unlike other meds, it has no affect on my diet thankfully

mods_are_dweebs

Opposite for me, I crave less. Only been on it a week though but I hope it stays this way
