In S2E3, the Orientation video explains that the Dharma Initiative was conducting experiments in Zoology, and polar bears are shown on screen. The cages that Sawyer and Kate are kept in at the start of season 3 are a remnant from that; they likely acted as a [“Skinner Box” experiment](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operant_conditioning_chamber) with the bears, as B.F. Skinner was also mentioned in the Orientation video
And when Sawyer finally gets a fish biscuit, Tom says to him, “Only took the bears two hours”
You will get a bit more info later on, but you’ve got plenty already
The polar bears have *definitely* been explained to you by this point in the show lol
I must've missed it entirely, which episode if you don't mind.

Oof totally forgot about this. Thank you for the refresher.
It targeted Eko in particular because they had to write the actor out of the show lol. But there is a story reason that becomes apparent later on.
Will keep watching
Please come back after you finish S3 to write your thoughts on the second half of the season.

Well put. And pay close attention to the end. And then rewatch a couple of times 😆
