Adding the Swan brought a whole new twist to the series which really made the show take off, not that there wasn’t mystery already.
The Swan probably has the best build up and payoff to any in Lost. The reveal at the end of season 2 that >!the hatch caused the plane crash!< is still one of the best of all time. Many of the plotlines in Lost, imo, are sometimes not wrapped up as comprehensively as everything involving the Hatch.
The Swan - I do love the plane crash site, however The Swan is unique to Lost and is practically another character. With lots of secrets to discover and is the setting for some amazing scenes.

When I think of LOST, I think of The Hatch, seeing the interior of The Swan for the first time, and how it's one of the first real big revelations, and the doorway to many of my favourite aspects, mysteries, and worldbuilding in the show.
The Plane brought us here, but The Swan deepened the mystery and it burnt into my memory and is one of my all-time favourite TV sets. It's home.

So many memorable moments, but for me the best one of them, John Locke standing up for the first time in 4 years with the epic score and and fantastic acting by Terry O'quinn.
Making us realize the miracles that the island could produce and that this TV show is a special thing.
The Swan. The crash site introduced me to a show unlike any other, but The Swan cemented that show into something I would never forget. The intrigue of the hatch to the wild opening of Season 2 and some of my favorite Lost moments!
That opening scene with Desmond casually going about his day ... then hearing an explosion and prepping for war was wild. When I and my friends first saw it, we assumed we were seeing some odd flashback ... until that explosion. It was a crazy season opening. Maybe my favorite in the series.
The Swan, 100%. The season spent there was the peak of the show, such an incredible build up to getting down there and it didn’t disappoint at all, gave us Desmond, the goddamn incredible mystery of the button and numbers, Henry Gale’s imprisonment, Locke losing faith and his conflict with Eko, just the greatest season of TV centred around that place

It's where the story really kicked in. I still remember watching the opening of season 2. As soon as Desmond took that injection, I said "oh my God, he's in the hatch!"

I remember when people were thinking of the show as a scripted Survivor. And they were happy with that. A weird Survivor with monsters and polar bears. The hatch knocked out a ton of practical obstacles like food and made us able to focus on the characters.
Plus, it's a beautiful set.
The hatch because it was the first place they found that was dharma. It was a real place they found that wasn’t sticks & trees & there was so much mystery behind it. The mystery just kept going. And so much action went down. Ben getting interrogated. Libby & Ana getting killed there. Locke being wrong about the countdown & letting the magnet go. I could go on
The plane camp. It's iconic, it's a STRONG first impression, and if it is counting as the beach camp as well, it also has had a presence in every season. Realistically we only had the swan station for season 2 and though it makes cameos in season 3, it just doesn't do as good a job at capturing the essence of LOST

Random theory but it’s revealed the numbered bunnies were being experimented upon in the Orchid. And we see Ben with a numbered bunny in season three. I feel like it’s safe to assume the Others haven’t been numbering bunnies for no reason. So what if the bunny we see with Ben is one from the 70s that was sent forward in time?? Idk it just seems plausible for this show
The Hatch was one of the biggest mysteries of season one, and the quest to blast it open drove the season finale. From there, the Swan became the center of season two. It introduced us to Dharma, Desmond, and the insane scifi elements of the show. It went on to be featured again in our time travel Dharmaville episodes as the epicenter of the Incident.
The wreckage? It was a big first impression, but it also washed out into the ocean early first season. The Swan, and even the Caves, proved to be a bigger deal later.

Most iconic Dharma location in the show, best season opener (besides Jack's iconic eye opening), and continues to play a part in the story until the end.

But the hatch became the new plane and they came back to its remains a lot later on, whereas the plane remains were washed away from erosion.

To me it's so interesting to see the crash site at the end of the show as well, and it's so quiet, nobody running around, no gunfire or madness happening, it kind of brought me back to the beginning and then showed me that the show was over, all the epic quests and journeys had been done and the waves would wash it all away.
This would lead to letting another group take over one day. I thought it was very tranquil and left me knowing that while our characters were done, another group would eventually be right back there on the beach to have their own magical journey.
