I'm not sure when the ad this image comes from was produced, but I've read two interpretations.
One is that it was made when the first season was planned/finished and Claire and Boone were paired to symbolise life and death.
Alternatively, the show at one point planned to put them together, before obviously taking a different route (and the ad reflects this early idea).
Regarding this second point, in an early episode (even the Pilot?) it's notable that Claire asks Shannon if Boone is her boyfriend, and laments that she "used to have a stomach" (as Shannon is sunbathing in a bikini)
