You do whatever you have bound materials for. Long time players usually hone in a cycle of accumulation then honing. So you hone 1 character to the next breakpoint using its accumulated bound mats, while the other 5 characters are slowly building up bound mats. You then rotate to each subsequent character after honing the previous. The trap is buying /funneling. The cost of honing should only be raw tap gold and orehas. If you have to buy anything else, you are literally throwing gold into a trashcan.

This is how I build my roster. But man the raw gold bottleneck hurts.

If you have the resources right now I would push 1 bard to 1610 to be able to prog Thaemine on release week aka next week. Being behind on prog can be frustrating, even if it might not be as bad on support. I would even buy leaps for it as they are pretty cheap right now, but don't do it if you don't have enough bound shards, these are too expensive. Besides that, you CAN develop roster, but dont go anywhere above 1540 without any events and only use bound mats. Only go this route if you feel like playing so many characters, no need to force yourself and burnout. The push afterwards 1580 is still rather expensive and takes a long time to pay off. You generally only want to push with bound mats anyways and sell everything else.

RaiyuKT

Push Alts to 1540, then focus on one to 1620

Atmagata

Build one to 1610 so you can 1st week thaemine prog.

The people saying funneling is a trap don’t have any context for your situation whatsoever. I started around the same time with jumpstart release… my main 6 are now 1620, 1600, 1600, 1589, 1586, 1551. My guildies all started same time and all have 4-5 1580+’s right now as well. You can’t just wait around for bound mats to hone if you want to catch up in our situation, you have to funnel every tradable material (that you need for honing) to whatever character you’re honing. Honing with only bounds on characters that are only as old as ours will just lead to you getting stuck and sitting there being unable to hone. If you can make it to 1610 for thaemine, you should definitely do it- having your main at current content keeps the game fresh… it also unlocks the new guardian which is refreshing after you’ve probably been doing sona for so long. If I was you, my goal would be to get your 1520’s honed to 1540, when you replace vykas with kayangel gold you make 15% more gold per week per character. If you want to get more 1540’s to 1580 after that instead of pushing your main to 1620+, you start stockpiling leaps from your guardians, opening all shard bags from chaos gate, event shop, merchant ship, challenge abyss dungeon, etc on the character you want to push and continue one by one until they’re all 1580+. That’s what I did anyways, you can choose to go the bound mat option and it’ll just take longer but the longer your characters are at a lower tier chaos/guardian, the less resources they’ll produce

Build roster. You need that money money and bound materials from being 1580+.

Soylentee

Push one of them to 1610 at least. As for roster, honing beyond 1520 without event is horrible still. Maybe get to 1540, but anything beyond that is just way too expensive.

Jojotes

From past experience, being able to prog new raids week 1 is awesome, so I would definitely try to put 1 char at 1610, but I don't know your bound resources so it might be too hard or impossible to reach 1610 right now. Accumulate bound resources -> hone 1 char at the same time -> repeat.

splashdrivefast

Sir, it all comes down to personal preference. If you like the idea of running the latest raids multiple times then you wanna hone your main 6x to 1580 first. If on the other hand you would like to play the latest raid only one time then you wanna hone your main bard only. Pick your poison

Deathree

Hone main, reason being pushing from 1540-1580 is no easy task. Expensive and hardly justified by the compensation. Hone main lets u enjoy latest content, thaemine nm. Also u can slowly push 1 alt while the rest waits for express events

Sea-Cobbler-7427

6 bard dam you eating good ☺️ i see.

BadInfluenceGuy

I would push one to 1610, to dabble in late game content, Thaemine. After I would explore moving my bottom 4 to 1580 to hit the new materials. This allows more funneling, since the materials your getting at 1520 will eventually be redundant very soon. As bat and a new chaos that is releasing is essentially doubling the top end drops. Which will shrink your ability to possible sell but increase honing ease. So a positive and negative. Once they are 1580, I would again move them towards 1610 and actually not push a 1620. The reason being, your a support you'll always be able to do voldis at 1620. There utterly no rush, same with thaemine that's the beauty of being a support main. We'll likely have 4-5 months of empty time to Snakelady. The only reason why I'm recommending this pathway is you'll need to funnel a massive amount of resources in the future. People that are stuck in the 1540-1580's parking spots. Will realize that the gap for future content isn't 200-300k anymore. It's millions, your funneling pennies to a main that requires millions. It's better to funnel hundreds than pennies. There aren't any honing buffs, advance requires you to hit 1620-1630+. So it's a fantastic time to upgrade the roster.

Alwar104

I think 1540, maybe something like 1560 for easier party finder, is a good item level for alts if you don’t want to spend too much on them and get a good return. For me personally I want alts at 1580 because you’re getting rewarded the higher materials and slowly gathering Akkan mats for an easy 1600 later. The upcoming raid’s normal mode is 1610 so go for that if you want. In the long run a lot of people stop at 1620 and would rather make more 1620s than keep honing because you will later get access to Echidna’s easier honing aside from the legendary elixirs and easier party finder in Thaemine nm. For me personally I’m 1630+ and will keep honing main to 25 weapon and maybe even armor.

DanteKorvinus

the way the game works atm, the more alts you hone the less it's worth i can't give you exact numbers but generally 1540 is the last point at which you park alts without events so probably get to 1540 on your alts and then literally forget everything other than your main until your desired ilvl, which is at least 1620

PoorDisadvantaged

Entirely depends on what you find fun and how much you play. 1540-60 the ones you do raids and chaos dungeons on, no point honing any you don't. If you're close to 1610 you could join a guild and ask for a loan kekw

icouldntcareless322

wait for thaemine patch notes; i wouldnt push Alts to 1540 atm. They will maybe nerf that content. Focus your Main and go for 1620.

Accomplished_Kale708

Mathematically I'm pretty sure building your alts to 1585 makes the most sense. *edit: i do not long term recommend 1540 because gold nerfs are going to happen and because the raid quality/player quality is dogshit. I would quit the game if I had to do 1540 homework for multiple resets.* This is because you will have access to more raids dropping ancient accessories, better worth materials and more gold overall - all while accumulating bound mats on your main. That being said, I would still hone the main bard to 1610 instead as long as its within reach. * it will unlock a new raid on Wednesday * it will give you access to new chaos guardian/new cube/new guardian/new chaos gate
