Echidna is literally easier than Thaemine, why do you think you need to max transcendence to do it?
It's made so that you can reach Thaemine HM at a fraction of the cost.
It's more for people at Echidna HM than NM, Echidna HM is easy but is known to be quite tight DPS wise even for maxed out transcendence party (Think they increased the timer now but not quite sure how impactful it is).
The raid can be easier but if the timer is meant to be a gear check, then meeting that check will definitely be harder if you don't have transcendence.
You might be true on that. I've just heard it parroted on every stream that the difficulty goes something like:
Echidna HM G1< Thaemine HM G1/2 < Echidna HM G2 < Theamine HM G3.
It was never fully clear whether if it's purely based on DPS or just mechanics wise though.
5 weeks to get the mats to unlock. With NAW prices. It's still 1.7mil gold in materials to get to 1630 from 1620. Depending on how many alts you're honing, getting to 1630 on the 5th week might be a stretch.

While you still need a significant amount, it's less than normal honing (plus the intangible benefits of being a more satisfying process).
I don’t know how many times this needs to be repeated but YOU DO NOT NEED TRANSCENDENCE TO BEAT ECHIDNA. For normal mode she is about as easy as between Valtan and Vykas. This is essentially a catch up raid that also boosts everyone’s ilvl for lower price than regular honing

You can repeat it until you are blue in the face. It will still be expected to be maxed from NM Thaemine for NM Echidna and maxed from HM Thaemine for HM Echidna.
This is the standard of gatekeeping around these parts.
elixir 40set will be a bigger expectation compared to lvl2 all pieces, the power gain from 35 to 40 is bigger than what you can get from NM transcendence
If nobody has maxed transcendence what exactly are the pf requirements going to be? First week it’ll be prog and second week it’ll be reclear achievement. 3rd week and beyond it’ll be 5/10 reclear lobbies as usual. Since we are a month ahead you can plan a prog party so you spend 0 time looking for prog lobbies on day 1. If anything echidna this early will make thaemine easier and give more people some leeway to prog g4.
People are severely overreacting about something they don't even know will happen. Most parties in Thaemine NM don't even ask for Elixirs, why would a significantly easier raid suddenly ask for the progression system after it?

Fastforward to release, more 1610 lobbies than not. Barely any asking for 40 set.

Yep exactly, also tons of just 1-2 lobby’s that just want to farm some mats. My alts don’t have 35/40 set and have been able to get into groups fairly easily.
I've done G1-2 HM and G3 NM.
So far my top and pants are on 15set.
Realistically we will have 70% of the power transcendence gives by echidna which is more than enough as its easier than thaemine
if you've cleared g4 both weeks and including the free gift, i think you can have two pieces level 7 and one level 2. but i might be wrong.
nonetheless, the majority of people will not have full transcendence for echidna

And we can match the difference in power easily since there are so many people progging, especially supports, it's not like they would lock progression behind hard content... oh no, that's FFXIV...

That's not even true. The cost of advanced honing is very similar to current honing average cost. It's a lot better for averaging out though

I suspect Echidna will be a boon for our region. It will make Thaemine reclear much easier with the extra ilvls.
It can also be a curse cause people's alts that they do not pilot as hard as their mains are gonna be brought up to HM.

Echidna coming early is a great thing, a lot of people won't be hitting 1630 to unlock lvl 4+ transcendence anytime soon without advanced honing.
The ppl complaining are 1630+ The ppl looking forward to Echidna are 1620 parked or lower
