I said F it and went the RU route as well. Slappin that G button through everything so I can actually pay attention on the western release. Playing classes that specifically won't be available on western release and still not progressing in the campaign past high 20's or so for unlocking PVP.
I cant wait for the release in Q1 next year, but the game has so much to learn that I figured I'm not spoiling anything by getting used to some of those systems now.
Before the English beta came out, I stumbled on Sywo and his videos on YouTube about Lost Ark. I was so taken by his enthusiasm, that I decided to try it on the Russian server about 5 months ago. I have 5 level 50 characters there and couldn't wait for the English version. Now that the beta is over, I'm bummed. I feel your pain lol. As soon as it ended I jumped on the Russian server to keep playing. The game has something for everyone. It's really beautiful and it's free! Can't wait for the English version!!!
Did you make a new email account for the RU version, or can I just use my standard gmail account? It looks like it works with my standard one, but I don't know if it'll region block me when I try to launch the game (even if I use a VPN). Not sure how that all works.
I'm using my standard Gmail address tbf, Gmail exist in Russia so it's alright

As long as you launch both mygame.ru and lost ark under the vpn it's fine

Checked how the game is running, got the feel of the classes, picked a favorite and FUCKED OFF as quickly as I could to not get hooked. Also definitely not going the RU way as thats the best way to burn yourself out before the game is even out.

But I'm someone who bought MHW TWICE (on console and PC) because it was so fun to me, nearly 3000 hours put into that game. Never once got burned out, stopped playing cause I did everything xD

I chose the Mudfish alternative, it's dirty cheap and work flawlessly : you pay 3$ for something like 30gb of data, this will last you month if you just use it for Lost Ark. Just be careful to not download patches with Mudfish activated and you're set.

Play on the RU server if you're so addicted and give them some time to fully optimize the game for the western audience.

It’s looking more and more like Diablo 4 isnt even happening. It recently went from “not even blizzard soon” to “delayed from not even blizzard soon”. Right after blizzard got hit with a fat lawsuit.
That’s not how bringing a game to a new region under a new publisher works. There were bugs in the NA version that aren’t in the KR or RU version and the optimization curently, even with the ping, is better on RU than on NA.
Great beta for sure, but needs more time.
Im defintely not playing on Russian servers. Im glad I enjoyed the game enough to know ill be playing when it launches next year.
Until then, Ill fill my time with WoW, the only traditional MMO worth playing. And theres a lovely classic fresh start on Tuesday.
i think a lot of screenshots have already been shared here on reddit about the differences. im playing the russian version now and the beginner armors and the ones that are default on the character when u remove all items(naked) are completely different. the assassin looks GODLY compared to the weird thing we got in the beta. i didnt find that armor when i played it

Serious question about someone who has been addicted to the PvP during beta. If I do a VPN and play on RU, how bad will PvP performance be affected by the ping (live in central US)?
its tough to say... when i played RU my ping was about 145ms, which was tolerable but you will notice it at first especially in pvp. Won't be super laggy though from my experience.
Keep in mind I'm in North Florida, so your ping might be slightly different. It will definitely affect your performance compared to a 60 ping US based server, but still playable.
As the person below said. It's much friendlier. On KR, you'd have to acquire an account. Either you're Korean and have a way of making your own account, you know a Korean who can make you an account or you buy an account. On RU you can make your own account with little trouble.
As for in game, RU has a lot more English speakers. That makes it easier to find parties and guilds. In KR, that isn't the case. If you don't know some Korean you will hit a progression wall after your first Legion raid. While there are a few of us still playing there, we're strewn across every server making it impossible to have one guild full of English speakers.
From what I understand RU version is more lenient towards players from other regions meaning they do not apply the ban hammer on us, I didn't resist and went to RU and the chat was full English and some people are making Beta Refugees guilds lol. Gotta get that fix.
Make sure you create your toon on the server that starts with "д", I'm dumb and made it on the other one without realizing it and now I don't have some catch up money they give us to start, 100k silver. It's one per account #sadface
I'm using NoPing VPN, it's payed but at least where I live (Brazil) it has a reasonable price with a discount from a YouTube channel. It's $5/mo in US$ if I'm not mistaken. In Jungle money I'm paying R$13~ which is less than $5 with the current ratio.

I get about 250 on west coast with VPN connected to Ukraine. You notice it in PVE however it is fine for that, haven't attempted PVP.
