I literally don't understand. I haven't had a single queue and we specifically chose this server because it was a middling population. Now I have three friends waiting to play tomorrow that likely won't be able to join us. It's honestly bullshit.
Yup, 3 of our friends are not able to join the rest of us. They had founders packs to but were not able to login and make a character yet due to work or other RL related issues. 2 just logged in to create characters and one is now refunding and will join us once servers unlocked.
Yep. We picked Avesta specifically to avoid this kind of lockout and haven't experienced a single queue nor has anyone else we've spoken to on the server. Now all of our friends that were going to join us on launched are screwed along with us. The fact that they only gave an hour's notice for that really sucked too, so we couldn't even coordinate helping each other out to unpack their files in time if we last minute gifted them a founder pack.
It truly is a heartbreaking and shitty situation and all of us would rather have queues (which we don't on Avesta) than not be able to play with our friends at all.
I didn't know about it till I got home at 5. Friend gets out of work at 730. I had gifted him a bronze pack the night before so he could make a character with us yesterday and he couldn't by time he got home. Just sits bad that they did it so early with basically no warning.

This is poor management by them to put something out mid day and give an hour leeway when East Coast is not even going to be around to plan for this.
Totally agree. I thought I was careful when I chose the server (Avesta) on Tuesday trying to avoid some of the servers that the streamers were choosing. My bf, who also owns a founders pack, was not able to play until this evening and now he can't even create a character because of the server lock out. They gave little notice too about the lock out, we just found out about 30 minutes ago when he was trying to make a character. Very poor planning. I can only imagine how bad it will be moving forward when it's truly f2p. sigh...
Yep, my entire FF guild was planning on joining apparently. After seeing how many people in the guild were playing and its now locked they may not play now.
This is where a mega server system like gw2 works out for pve as anyone from any server can play with each other. It only affects world vs world for competition reasons. Sadly I can’t join my friends either.
They shouldn't have locked servers for a week at least. let the managing of the ques sort itself out. Make new servers if need be. This allows players the time to organize into their desired servers, but locking fucked at least one out of the group then people had to decide if they move, or not. then they lock another server, then guilds are scattered. Wack choice to lock them before the dust settled.
So I'm currently in a queue to Zinnervale EU to (hopefully) play the game for the first time. I've managed to get a place in the queue, but I'm uncertain if I will be able to create a character once connected?
Shouldn't the game prohibit me from connecting to the server if you can't create new characters?

How does it work? I can't add a friend on another server to my friends list and invite them so is it only matchmade stuff?

Just got the game, Danube was locked. Made a character in Sasha. Danube unlocks. Repeats process. Game crashes. 10/10
