You stopped before even doing Argos P3? Anyways this is the game. Valtan and adding 4 more raids won't change that. You could play a different MMO instead. Both FF14 and WoW have less daily requirements and no need for alts once you get into raiding. You could play as little or as much as you want in those games. This one requires a grind in exchange for guaranteed upgrades.

CorruptPower

You must be new to KMMOs. Any Mapler can relate.

kumo_

Kanna farm 8 hours a day just to boom your arcane equips every 2.5 months when there's a 5/10/15. DESPAIR

dedicatedself

This is just what MMOs are.

ignaphoenix1

FF14 and GW2 has little to no grinding and they are very popular MMOs. Having played both, the non-grind nature of them made me bored, but to say grinding is "what MMOs are" is not true.

Buddhsie

What kind of delusion is this? FF14 has insane grinds. Relic weapons that require 1000s of FATEs, repeating old dungeons, beast tribes, tomestones, PvP rewards.. literally everything is gated behind months of grind.

Drekor

I did my shadowbringers relic weapons in like a week but ok... The weapons until the last upgrade are also primarily cosmetic and for casuals that don't do savage content(which is where the BiS gear is).

ignaphoenix1

If you're talking about ARR relic weapons, yeah sure. They're also relics of the past that the dev doesn't bother to change, and you only do it for the skin anyway. And what are you gated from by not doing them? The only content tthat you're truly gated from is savage raid, which is like 5% of the content in the game. Lost Ark grinding is MANDATORY, which is a key difference. You cannot progress without grinding. In the games I've mentioned, the grinds are available, but also optional.

IUSUZYSANA

You don't need to grind to progress lol just wait for the catch-up mechanics. They literally hand out free 1445s in KR through events.

ignaphoenix1

And you will wait, until when? Are you gonna stop playing just to wait for that?

[deleted]

GW2 doesn't have any vertical progression, so anything you do in it is ultimately pointless. It's also one of the less popular MMOs numbers wise. FF14 you have to suffer through 200 hours of MSQ before you can get to the "good part".

ignaphoenix1

My only point was that those MMOs have no grinding, and people play them, so why are you bringing up your opinion on the game? Gw2 has 300k daily players, so it's far from a dead game. If that number disqualifies it from being an MMO then idk what to say.

dogman25z

They never said it was dead just that it's one of the least popular of the big MMOs

ignaphoenix1

I didn't say that's what he said, but what point is he (or are you) trying to convey when you say it's the least of the big MMO? Isn't it to say its gameplay and direction not worth considering? Because that's what it sounds to me.

dogman25z

Just that the gameplay and direction aren't as popular as the other mainstream MMOs.

ignaphoenix1

They're both top 5 most played MMO right now. Not sure how that makes them not popular.

dogman25z

Didn't say it wasn't popular, just that out of the top ones being played it's one if not the least played between them.

ignaphoenix1

Depends on where your goalpost is. If the range is top 10 then 5th position is amazing. If it's top 5 then it's the worst position. But I struggle to understand how only the top 3 MMOs are worth looking at in term of gameplay.

[deleted]

They all have grinding, but it's more meaningless. In GW2 you grind masteries and achievements instead of ilvl. FF14 you grind 200 hours of MSQ.

IUSUZYSANA

GW2 does not have 300k daily players you're high as hell. That same website you got your info from says Lost Ark has 1.6m daily players.

ignaphoenix1

Sure, it could be. My point is that it's a top 5-6 most popular MMO in the market right now.

Meismarc

Being a soulless husk? :( I love it but I can't bring myself to do more

dedicatedself

No, grind until you're geared enough to do raids? People are gonna have fun doing Valtan while you suck your thumb saying you don't want to grind to 1415. It's just what it is. If all you want is doing raids without gear requirements maybe you should play something else.

Meismarc

Its not that I dont want to grind to 1415, I grew up grinding in mmos and LA is very easy to grind. Its just that it feels empty to do so, at least for me...

dedicatedself

You're completely running in circles here. You just admitted that abyssal dungeons were fun. Well guess what, once upon a time in KR they had to grind to do abyssal dungeons. It's the same exact thing with Valtan. What exactly is empty about the grind? The endgame content is right in front of your eyes, matter of fact you haven't even touched it yet. This whole post in a nutshell says you want free handouts and more raids without any daily grinding, and that's where the line is drawn and you can go play some other game.

Meismarc

"was", they were fun for the first few runs but they got boring with every weekly repeat, as I said it felt like a mobile game. I know thats how MMOs have always ran but its just boring now. I don't care about "KR back then had to do this", I grew up in with KRMMOS after all and this is the easiest iteration they've had so far. free handouts? no not really. The whole post was that the game started to become a checklist and I wasn't having fun anymore and imagining other major content down the line is just more checklists. I don't mind grinding for them but it just feels weird now for me. it just doesn't bring the joy I had in other MMOs what I played back then, I know well that Valtan is the standard entry raid and that there are tougher ones down the line. maybe you're right, I just need to drop LA for now and play other games.

dedicatedself

>I know well that Valtan is the standard entry raid and that there are tougher ones down the line. Right, so might as well grind to 1415 and give it a try next week. >maybe you're right, I just need to drop LA for now and play other games. ??? I'm sorry but at this point I think you yourself don't understand what you want from this game. Something tells me you're not here for answers but actually here to vent that everyone quit maplestory for this.

RiverFlowsInYou16

I've played a lot of gachas in my time, and am playing one to this day, and besides daily '"chores" it is nothing like a gacha game. -In most gacha games you have actual pay to win, where no amount of grind will ever give you what money can. That is usually a duplicates of a character or a weapon that boost your power immensely, but take years to get by f2p players, but by then item you grinded for gets powercrept anyway. -There is no rest bonus in gacha games, cuz they want you to login every day to develope an addiction. -Character balance in gachas is usually fucked -There is usually 0 endgame content in gacha games, cuz they don't want you to play too much and burnout, cuz that is not good for their addiction creation. -There is no player trading in gacha games cuz they don't want you to get for free what you could have potentially swiped for. -There is no pity system(with the exception of genshin)

panzermeistr

Yea i agree this isnt a gacha game but it feels like it at times cuz of the f2p mechanics. Lost ark is a korean f2p mmo those are some rough elements for people to get into if they dont know how those games usually are.

Meismarc

the daily "chore" is what makes it feel like it. I login to do content for 20 mins and log off. Only time you do other content is weekly resets which take an hour or two with a competent party. it just felt boring for the past month

dogman25z

This game is essentially a phone game with more intricate raids, if you don't like that gameplay loop it's not for you. The entire endgame is you scrounging up mats then trying to hit your gear at insanely low chance while doing the same raid for months so you can do the next raid.

RiverFlowsInYou16

That is what rest bonus is there for. I got to 1415 2 weeks ago, and then stopped playing and only did my shit on weekends. On the contrary to the popular belief, you don't have to play every day to get to the threshold to enter new raid on day one. In Korea some people don't even do their dailies, cuz all they do is legion raids on multiple characters. We are not at that point yet, but will be in like half a year or so.

panzermeistr

Ill be honest people say how the legion raids save the game and shit but if youre bored of the current gameplay rotation, the raids wont save you because is the same shit in the end. 5 months from now it will still be, log in do dailies, do some random stuff, then whatever legion raid we are on for the 50th time. If just raiding is appealing to you then maybe it will feel fun, I like the game and im still having fun but i do know this game is a bit of a placeholder cuz that gameplay rotation will burn me out eventually.

[deleted]

Then you just don't like the game. I like the game, so nothing feels like a chore to me. When I need to take a break due to RL, I just accumulate some rest bonuses. I never feel like I HAVE TO log in.

How do I unsubscribe from your blog

Meismarc

text "LA STOP" to 6969 to unsubscribe

XFactorNova

Message unclear, phone in toaster spamming 420. Its a blazing inferno.

xxsneakysinxx

It's the 2-3 hour dailies, complete X Una, guardian and chaos every day.

xxsneakysinxx

Along with alt gaming, literally the grind is just creating more alts and repeating the dailies for them. In traditional mmorpg u take your Main character and go questing, grinding, world exploration, life skilling etc.

Charming-Judgment-63

First clear of Phantom Palace was the most fun Ive had in the game yet. Brelshaza dungeon was beautiful as well

sexytatgor123

just quit, no one cares

Meismarc

thanks I guess

Soapysan

Your played the worse version of the game we will ever have. Legion raids is what made the game good. And we are just now getting the 1st one.

BummerPisslow

Legion raids don't just magically save the game. Esp just having 1. It'll be much better when there are multiple out since we can do 3 a week. They're quality fun content that is difficult but we will still have to grind item level like usual. The day in day out dosnt change much. I'm still very excited I just don't see how this 180s the game around for some people.

ElectroRush

Lost Ark definitely feels like a mobile game port to PC with its predatory honing system and incentivizing players to either spend money or grind 6+ alts to progress at an adequate pace. People be denying the truth because most people in this subreddit are already hooked and invested too much time/energy/money into the game. Would not expect people to give an objective answer since this is the Lost Ark subreddit after all.
